Well you can’t do any worse than I did so that’s automatically a win.

Recorded vocals yesterday without an instrumental, didn’t turn out as bad as it could have but wouldn’t recommend. Re-recorded chorus vocals today with a cute lil melody. Doing an original. Hopefully it’s... Uneek enough.

I'm having way too much fun with this but I lowkey lost the creativity over how to continue (and I made ~40 seconds for now :skull: )

I might be a few hours after the deadline. :emofish: I've had such a busy week and the deadline is at a really awkward time in my timezone.

Posted

y'all can have until midnight BST and then after that you'll have to post your entries into the thread yourselves if you're late because i'm going on a weekend retreat with @Queen Conchita and @Kylie Jenner, our own personal Judges Houses if you will x

Oh, my this is a terrible idea. I did that for my first entry but in the end the instrumental was way faster than the recorded vocals and I had to re-record

I usually do that with the instrumental either playing on a different device or just at a very very low volume, so I could keep up with the pace.

I think that if I did I would get distracted by the instrumental

Sent, wondering about some reactions that I'll get :dancehall3:

"Somewhere Only We Know"

(Keane)

Here is a description provided by Fa1x intelectual, written to enhance your listening experience:

Quote

So for this one we have a cove of Somewhere Only We Know in which there is a piano, a trumpet and a bass cello as the primary instruments. My mentor told me it sounds too similar to the original but please hear me out. I didn't choose these instruments randomly. Each of them represent a different part of me as a singer. It's my artistry, if you will.

The piano is supposed to represent the original song in a way. Why? Because no matter how hard I try I can't seem to be able to, I don't want to, that's the word, make something that in no way resembles the original. If I wanted to do that, I would just make an original song. But I chose to make a cover n that's what I'm gonna do. The piano represents my singing, for the reason that when I'm singing I tend to follow the original closely, I don't attempt to sing anything higher or lower, or make some vocal runs where there are none. My voice can't sustain those. I just sing the thing, there. So even though it IS my take take on that song, the piano is there to say it is still THAT song, and my voice does the same.

The trumpet is here to give the track that lounge feel, which is something that I think that if I were a real artist, would be a constant in my discography. That jazzy feel reminiscent of Julie London or Astrud Gilberto (the latter and Frank Sinatra are my biggest influences, I think). That trumpet could be a clarinet, a saxophone or any of those instruments use to convey a relaxed environment. So the trumpet represents the elegant calm that I so much appreciate in the oldies I love to hear.

And finally we have the cello. The cello sort of connects with this idea of elegance and class, but with a difference. Whereas the trumpet solely represents the elegant "calm", the cello is there to signify elegance combined with a rich orchestration, which is something that I find most evident in Classical Music. Now, I beg of the judges no to think of this as pretentious (especially mxtt, to whom I sent Pachelbel's Canon In D in the first round of ATRL's Song Contest, so he knows I sent that because the round asked for us to choose a song that was over 4 minutes and, since the rest of the criteria was up to the participants, I sent a CM staple not entirely because I wanted to show off, but because I am a casual listener of this genre and I love its rich orchestras with violins and such. It's beautiful.) So nothing was more fair than incorporating that part of my musical self onto the cover through the bass cello.

In the end I say the song represents me as an artist because I like to sing things with chill vibes, a voice that, while not exactly perfect or diva-ish, sings in an easy pace, and that have a diverse, organic production.

But I think that what tipped the edge for me and made me stand by my entry is that i made it. Okay, the instrumentals are all from Youtube, but I chose which instruments I wanted, I decided where I wanted each of to play and I edited it. All by myself. After I sent the song to my mentor's scrutiny I suggested trying to sing Hey Ya in a jazzy arrangement, but then I would be doing the exact same thing I did last round and, thus, I wasn't feeling motivated to sing. I wanted to do what I wanted to do and so I did it. If I get the boot, at least I get to feel proud in something I did.

Without further ado, here it is
(ps: you might want to turn your volume down to 44 or the like because the track is LOUD and no matter how much I tried to upload a fixed version, I wasn't able to)
