Taylor streak is so impressive.

Sad that we dont have any catalogue pure sales for Speak now and Recovery. Maybe in 100 years, looking back we can say she had 1st 6 albums on top of their years.

Their difference on pure sales is 'only' ~ 150k units. SB halftime show and ts7 are coming to slay.

not that TEOM was the best selling album of 2005 and Mariah Carey the best charting album of 1991.

It's pretty cool how the 60s-80s were almost all male artists and bands, and then in the 90s-00s you started having more and more female artists and then we've had exclusively female albums for the last 9 years, despite the fact that male artists still make up a significant majority of streaming and even radio.

It's mainly two female artists (Adele and Taylor) who have dominated the pure album sales market this past decade. Remove these two and I guess the second best selling album would be by a male artist? Do you have the data?

In that case I think it would look like this.

2010 - Eminem

2011 - Michael Buble

2012 - Imagine Dragons or Mumford & Sons

2013 - Frozen

2014 - Sam Smith

2015 - Chris Stapleton

2016 - Beyonce

2017 - Ed Sheeran

2018 - ASIB

2019 - Billie Eilish

Still better than in the 60s-80s when it comes to female representation, even after removing the two biggest female artists.

Taylor’s dominance on this list is amazing but just a bit heartbreaking because her best album, Speak Now, was the only one not to make the list.
