Vince, Cardi, and Dream Wife :clap3: Had no idea Sade dropped new music  Let me go check it out!

And there's certain types of folk music that I like and Fleet Foxes isn't one of them re: What you got against Fleet Foxes?

30. Rae Sremmurd - Close (feat. Travis Scott) (Pop Rap/Trap Rap)

I love songs where the artist talks about their deep-rooted paranoia. Here, Swae & Jxmmi talk about not really wanting to get too involved with anybody. Jxmmi delivers one of my favorite rap verses & the Travis Scott assist is fitting.

29. American Football - Silhouettes (Midwest Emo/Post-Rock)

I'm still readjusting due to the fact Mike Kinsella is using his Owen vocal stlyings for AF nowadays, but this is without a doubt the best track since they've gotten back together.

28. Mitski - Pink In the Night (Art Pop/Indie Rock)

An ethereal ballad, Mitski kinda did that.

27. Chromatics - Black Walls (Synthwave)

Italians do eerie Synthwave better perhaps.

26. JPEGMAFIA - Rock N Roll Is Dead

This weird ass song, there's even video game samples here. His delivery is on point & I always love his references.

25. Tierra Whack - Hungry Hippo

We deserve a full length version!!

24. Playboi Carti - Home (K.O.D.)

This really doesn't hit till you listen with serious bass.

23. Migos - Stir Fry

It's technically a 2017 song but I'm treating it as 2018. Pharrell as per usual snapped, too bad the rest of Culture II was a dumpster fire. For your enjoyment, here's a video of Diddy dancing to the song.

22. Lana Del Rey - Venice Bitch

I have a checkered history with Lana. I don't really mind her, and I thought Born To Die had a cool aesthetic but at some point I just lost interest in following her. Then she drops this which is probably her best track.

21. Teyana Taylor - Gonna Love Me (Remix) [feat. Ghostface Killah, Method Man & Raekwon]

Since all the Wyoming productions sound like decade old RZA beats, this remix made sense. 3 legends coming through for Teyana and kinda making her irrelevant on her own song was worth it. As a Wu "stan", it made me very happy to hear Ghost (my GOAT pick), Meth & The Chef come through with awesome verses relating to love. It also reminds me when haven't gotten a Hip-Hop love song that follows in the vein of the 'You're All I Need', 'The Light' type records. Hey Ghost, where's Supreme Clientele 2 or that DOOM collab?

Get Up 10 is Cardi's best song so far.  I think she's one of those artists where things work for her when they really shouldn't.

I didn't listen to that Uffie song but I listened to Drugs and it was  not my fave.

Love Aseul!!

Her other songs this year were weak. As for Cardi, I just can't with a whole album of her. Get Up 10 is indeed her best though.

What's with you and things getting deleted :deadbanana2:

Can't get into Cardi at all. Her "Style" isn't for me.

I don't have a strong opinion towards Jacquees but it always surprises me that Jagged Edge are still together releasing music.

Aseul's song is nice.

I wasn't wearing my glasses lolz. Fair enough about Cardi, Jagged Edge released an album last year and it was okay.

Get the **** off My Dick... a #relatable bop

Can't say I'm very familiar with the other songs. :dies: FJM's album this year was significantly better than Pure Comedy but it didn't stick with me. Also liked that Dream Wife album but never revisited. Get Up 10 is pretty good too but I didn't care for most of IOP album tracks tbh.

The feeling is mutual :fan:

Not familiar with most of these nn (the songs) :rip: Lemme save tho.

I don't play IOP as much as i used to but anyway, i'm glad she's finding some success!

Yeah, pretty much. She's kind of an ideal Hip-Hop success story.

Aside from its many inconsistencies, i agree that Maisel only had like one solid stand up this season. But damn that show brings me so much joy i don't care :jonny: Props to the Palladinos, they did some brilliant work this year and Hader can stay mad...

Both This Close and Corporate have potential of being great next year so i'm excited to see where they're headed.

You're right abt Homecoming! So far sounds like all the attention is on Julia and she was just okay, definitely not the best part abt it

Maybe you made some points about Sharp Objects, since even i couldn't find much to write about it,  and yet i really liked the show. I think the final payoff is worth the watch (something a lot of critics apparently don't agree on)

Hmm... i mean the show came and went, it's not like it had any value aside from the recent headline (which would've been a much more interesting direction than trolling politicians)

This is very true, and maybe he plans on releasing the footage related to that. But I did find the show humorous especially the OJ episode. But there was a disconnect, and I'm not exactly sure what it was.

I love Santa Clarita Diet...Netflix makes it hard to watch their originals since they're like a thousand of them. Glad I stumbled on this Season 1.

Glad somebody else enjoys it!

Get on that Sade STAT.

The "Gotta Love Me" remix is amazing. Ghostface did that with his verse. I was blown away. Wordplay, stuck to the theme & his flow, flawless. :clap3:

Love Teyana, but I agree, she was outshone in her own song, lol.

I’m waiting for American Football to drop their album to check their new songs out.

Pink is one of my fave Mitski songs.

Posted

Whew at Silhouettes making it at such short notice, but it's what it deserves. Too bad the Hayley Williams track was pretty underwhelming cause I was really excited for it :'(

Pink in the Night... she absolutely did that.

Rock N Roll Is Dead :clap3:

Venice Bitch :jonny5:

powerglide > close. JPEG has some of the more comic song titles.

Stir Fry the only song to keep from Culture 2.

Surprised to see any lana song here tbh.

Posted

Close is cool but there were better songs on SL3.

Mitski, Migos, and Lana :clap3:

I've been seeing Tierra Whack's name thrown around so I'm going to check her out

Posted

Venice Bitch a solid choice, I wouldn't say its her best song though

Stir Fry was okay. Kind of a bop.

Nice set! Venice is obvs my favourite ❤️ but Pink in the night and rock n roll are great too. I like Hungry Hippo but yeah an extended version would take it to the next level.

I was never into chromatics but I feel bad for their stans... dear tommy 2019 I guess :skull:

Missed the last update, but honestly I haven't heard a single song from that set :skull: Guess I have some catching up to do. I love this one tho, especially Pink in the Night, Black Walls, RNR Is Dead and Stir Fry :katie2: Haven't heard that American Football sing yet, but I might as well just listen to it when the album is out. Hope it's better than the last one, but again, can they get any worse than that, especially when Rachel Goswell is involved?

I listened to Teyanas album once and was so pissed I never revisited anything from it.

Stir Fry took awhile to click for me but it’s cool.

Love Pink in the Night. Quee’

Will check some of the other ones.

I hate him for dropping random verses this year with no album in sight. Maybe he'll come through next year.

Well if this new single is any indication, this album will sound like a proper sequel/continuation of their debut unlike AF2.

i rly like the 1-minute idea for tierra's album but when i think of the songs individually, some could use a longer running time for sure

Love this set.  Stir Fry, Venice Bitch, JPEG, Home, Pink in the Night (tho its far from my fave on BTC).

Chromatics are one of those bands I think I really like but then I listen and I'm never as gagged as I think I should be.

Yas! Venice Bitch is that slayage! :heart2: Watch it be somewhere high on my charts!

Also, I'm lovin' the Stir Fry appreciation! We can find some slayage in the midst of all these rap trash. :eli:

Love Mitski and Stir Fry (the not guilty pleasure :gaycat2:)

Oh and your honorable mention TV shows, Mrs. Maisel is one of my favorites :jonny: Rachel is just too good and I've been a big fan of Amy for years now (Gilmore Girls ofc). I do agree about the stand up, it usually doesn't make me laugh but most stand up doesn't tbh, maybe if I was in the bar, drinking, and living in the late 50s I'd laugh more at the stand up :eli: I did love when she roasted her dad to his face though

I'll agree more commercial rap needs to have better production, most of the time for now it's stale/boring.

The last set I was making it posted it halfway through, TWICE .  FOR NO REASON

Yeah I'm a ballad hater.  It has to be done by the masters or like, creative artists.  I guess Mitski falls in the latter but still that's one of my least faves.
