This will be my sixth attempt at a year end countdown here. I have a habit of sometimes not finishing but I’m gonna keep things simple this year to prevent that. Marina & the Diamonds) - Clean Bandit This year, I am more and more enjoying the current chill electronica music being released. If you enjoy this genre, you’ll love Trampoline, You and Me, Drive, and Need You. Those are just a handful of the chill electronica songs I’ve had in my playlists this year and you should expect more before the countdown is over! I am moving a little bit away from EDM, but Beautiful is a fantastic house track. I am so happy that I Want Your Love finally got a proper release this year, when Gaga did the Tom Ford ad with it, I knew I was going to need it one day. Disco is one of my all time favorite genres and I am so happy to hear Gaga do a proper disco track for once. In October of this year, I was so lucky to go to the Austin City Limits music festival where I got to see Sylvan Esso and CHVRCHES live on top of many others. Sylvan Esso didn’t quite perform as well as I was personally hyping them up to be, but the Parade remix is still that bop. CHVRCHES did so much better than my expectations in the other hand. As you can see from my previous top 10 lists, I’ve been enjoying their music since The Mother We Share but when they released their third album this year I really wasn’t feeling it. But when I saw them perform, it really changed my outlook on the album and I consider CHVRCHES one of my all time favorite groups now. Forever is the first of two songs from Love is Dead on my countdown this year. Ariana really did THAT this year with all her new releases, and I am really enjoying her new status as gay icon. NTLTC is pretty much perfect pop song and a fantastic lead single for her. This is also the first of two Sweetener songs on my list this year. Last is Baby - a typical Clean Bandit song elevated by Marina’s presence. The music video reminds me so much of Murder on the Dancefloor which doesn’t hurt as well. I’ve been hit or miss on Marina throughout her career, but I’m perched to see her return with her own era in 2019! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
