Blue Rose Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I don’t follow a lot of youtubers so I’ve actually never heard of these people
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 28, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2018 That Spectrum guy and his trash opinions are kinda annoying
lhdang2000 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I don't use Youtube that much anymore, so I don't think I've seen any of these.
MusicLoverDude Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 MLD's Top 100 Singles: 30 - 21 30. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - Shallow Zero Charts Peak: #8 So Random C/d Peak: #5 Plays: 133 (no certification) It's been 7 years since Gaga has REALLY delivered something I really liked. The Cure was cute but I left that song in 2017 and haven't really touched it this year. Shallow was the first step in the right direction, but Bradley Cooper singing was always a chore for me to listen to. I'm surprised it got this high tbh. First of two appearances by Lady Gaga. Only appearance by Bradley Cooper 29. NF - Lie Zero Charts Peak: #11 So Random C/d Peak: #5 Plays: 175 (certified Gold) I was first introduced to this song through ATRL Song Contest, hosted by @mxtthewdelrey. Sometimes you end up with songs that end up being singles later on. We saw that with Heaven by Julia Michaels actually now that I remember. And this song ended up being a single later in the year. I already really liked it when I heard it in Song Contest, so it grew on me even more when I added it to heavy rotation on my playlist and countdown. This song deserved to be Top 40 on the Hot 100, and it came VERY close peaking at #48, but NF's team dropped the ball on this one by never releasing or filming a video for this. With how important streaming is, Lie could have gotten Youtube streaming to get it into the Top 40. I won't forgive his team for this, because now he will be an official one hit wonder unless he can get a featured hit or another out of nowhere hit down the line. Final appearance by NF 28. Charlie Puth - The Way I Am Zero Charts Peak: #4 So Random C/d Peak: #3 Plays: 264 (certified Gold, on the way to platinum) Another song that deserved better. Voicenotes was by far a MUCH better era for Charlie than Nine Track Mind. And this song ended up being my most played of his, which I didn't think was possible. The guitar groove is just very catchy and the chorus as well, and this song is relatable. People these days don't really want to get to know people now and Charlie is just very underrated on here. Final appearance of Charlie Puth. 27. Gryffin f. Elley Duhe - Tie Me Down Zero Charts Peak: #2 So Random C/d Peak: #2 Plays: 119 (no certification) This was the Elley Duhe collab that really caught my attention this past fall. The beat reminds me of Bon Appetit and the song itself remind me of Back To You. The drop of the song is probably the most memorable part for me. That being said, as powerful as this song was to me, it dropped off my playlist quickly after retiring from my countdown, and it tumbled down my Zero Charts pretty fast too. But I still consider it one of the best songs of the year. Only appearance of Gryffin and final apperance of Elley Duhe. 26. The Chainsmokers f. Kelsea Ballerini - This Feeling Zero Charts Peak: #3 So Random C/d Peak: #3 Plays: 209 (certified Gold) I think this was the only TCS song I was actually looking forward to this year. Kelsea on a pop song would be perfect and TCS's best songs have always been their collabs (excluding Paris). This song grew on me very fast and I'm still listening to it to this day. It's definitely peaked though. It's going to float around my Top 20 on the Zero Charts for a little while longer, hopefully it goes Platinum soon. Final appearance of The Chainsmokers and only appearance by Kelsea Ballerini 25. Lauv - I Like Me Better Zero Charts Peak: #2 So Random C/d Peak: #2 Plays: 206 (certified Gold) It sucks that this song gets so much hate. It's such a nice song AND I love how the breakdown is made from Lauv's own vocals. I fell in love with this song fast and it's still charting on the zero charts. Now, if only he didn't pair up with Julia Michaels on that recent single of his. Bleh. At least he has other songs I can listen to. Only appearance by Lauv 24. Ariana Grande - thank u, next Zero Charts Peak: #1 So Random C/d Peak: #1 Plays: 242 (certified Gold. DEFINITELY on the road to Platinum) I was not expecting to like this song as much as I would. It just grew on me and grew on me, plus a This Feeling mashup, THAT VIDEO, and yeah, it was really easy for it to smash now. Took Carly's thrown over. Lol. Ariana really peaked with this. Second of five appearances by Ariana Grande 23. Sabrina Carpenter & Jonas Blue - Alien Zero Charts Peak: #7 So Random C/D Peak: #2 Plays: 217 (certified Gold) I had already started to like Sabrina's music because of Why from last year. This collab with Jonas Blue continued the likeness (and Almost Love was a speed bump). Jonas's production is magical as usual and Sabrina worked perfectly with it. It's why this song is gold, and charted for 25 weeks on my Zero Charts. Final appearance of Sabrina Carpenter. Second of three appearances by Jonas Blue 22. Lady Gaga - I'll Never Love Again Zero Charts Peak: #4 So Random C/d Peak: #2 Plays: 136 (almost Gold) Gaga FINALLY gave us a ballad that I could actually stan for and be slayed by. NINE years after her debut and she FINALLY delivered on a ballad. Those vocals on each chorus . I sometimes have a hard time listening to it though because you DO have to be in the mood for it and this song is just very heartbreaking. But Gaga performed it amazingly well! Final appearance of Lady Gaga 21. Hailee Steinfeld & Bloodpop - Capital Letters Zero Charts Peak: #1 So Random C/d Peak: #1 Plays: 260 Who would've thought Hailee's best song would be on a 50 Shades soundtrack? I fell in love with it on the first listen and I wish this song had been given a proper shot in the US. Hailee sounds so angelic on here and the song is just perfect for Spring, the car, and just lightweight listening. Final appearance of Hailee Steinfeld and only appearance of Bloodpop
potent Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Shallow and This Feeling are great choices Tie Me Down is also a cute generic bop.
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 29, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 29, 2018 Shallow, INLA
Moonlightbae Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Capital Letters is pop perfection The Way I Am is also really underrated. Shallow, INLA and thank u, next are great too
TheWayWeWere Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Shallow and INLA here too :jonny: film version still hits me TUN
lhdang2000 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Alien + Capital Letters + Shallow + INLA. I'm surprised people hate Bradley's vocals, because I do think it makes the soundtrack way better. The Way I Am is so underrated
Green Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Shallow, I'll Never Love Again, thank u, next, The Way I Am, Capital Letters
Temporal Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 The Way I Am slaps, I was not expecting that from Charli at all On 12/29/2018 at 2:41 AM, MusicLoverDude said: Second of five appearances by Ariana Grande Come thru Breathin, God Is a Woman and No Tears!
ATRL Moderator kelly-clarkson Posted December 31, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 31, 2018 The Way I Am is THAT bop
MusicLoverDude Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Happy New Year everyone. I will be wrapping up my list on the 1st and the 2nd.
Ghostlysnaker Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 "The Way I Am" and "This Feeling" are my favorites by far
MusicLoverDude Posted January 2, 2019 Author Posted January 2, 2019 Top 100 Singles: 20 - 11 20. Taylor Swift - I Did Something Bad Zero Charts Peak: #6 So Random C/d Peak: #3 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) So I know this didn't get an exact single treatment, but since she performed it at the AMAS, I treat it at least a single this year. This remains one of the highlights on Reputation. People picking you apart for just being yourself, having fun, and doing what you want is hilarious and this song was just another excellent way that Taylor ****ed the haters off. Second of four appearances by Taylor Swift 19. Liam Payne & Rita Ora - For You Zero Charts Peak: #1 So Random C/D Peak: #1 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) The lead single that deserved similar to success to the other lead singles from this film franchise, and was ruthlessly screwed over by promoters. The fact that DEMI LOVATO was being used in trailers for the film but not ACTUAL songs on the soundtrack. That's absolute BS. Especially when this is by far the catchiest song ever made for the franchise alongside Capital Letters and Love Me Like You Do. Easy enough for me to get addicted to this during the first few months of the year Final appearance of Liam Payne & Rita Ora 18. Ariana Grande - God Is a Woman Zero Charts Peak: #1 So Random C/d Peak: #1 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) So yeah, this was the "controversial" song Ariana was trying to go far. Thankfully it was a slayful song and I pretty much loved it on first listen. It's a cute song and hit, but I already have the feeling it won't stand the test of time with the rest of Ari's discography. It's why two of her songs are placing higher than this. Third of five appearances by Ariana Grande 17. Halsey - Without Me Zero Charts Peak: #2 So Random C/D Peak: #1 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) Halsey really slayed me during the majority of the year with Bad At Love, Strangers, Alone and Now Or Never. She really got me with once again with Without Me. I think when she sings as just herself, it all comes out more naturally than going with a concept. It's just so catchy and relateable with a great video. The fact that this is on track to be her first solo #1 is amazing. Hope Halsey's 2019 is bright. Final appearance of Halsey 16. Marshmello f. Anne-Marie - Friends Zero Charts Peak: #5 So Random C/d Peak: #2 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) When a DJ collaborates with one of your faves (Selena), you pay more attention to them. Marshmello definitely proved he had more to offer with this extremely addicting collab with Anne-Marie. I know this gets a lot of hate from people but I will say this....would the song that we know we ALL prefer over this have gotten the success if it wasn't for this being a hit first? Probably not. So let's thank Anne-Marie for helping keep Marshmello afloat. First of two appearances by Marshmello. Final appearance of Marshmello 15. Taylor Swift - Delicate Zero Charts Peak: #5 So Random C/d Peak: #2 Plays: 427 (2x Platinum) So I'll be honest, this was one of my least favorites on Reputation at first. But it grew on me with each listen, and it ended up being perfect for rainy days, nights, HAC playlists, the morning, and pretty much anything else. This and Look What You Made Me Do will probably be the two singles from this era I'll be listening to the most in the upcoming years along with Call It What You Want. Third of four appearances by Taylor Swift 14. Ariana Grande - No Tears Left To Cry Zero Charts Peak: #2 So Random C/d Peak: #2 Plays: 485 (2x Platinum) Took me a few listens to get into this song. It's very disco like in it's production and I like it and Ari's vocals are very hard to not get out of your mind. This song is perfect for your playlists, as it's just happy but puts you in a place different from the real world. It's hard to get tired of this song because even a few plays a week isn't going to hurt at this point. Fourth of five appearances by Ariana Grande 13. Nova Miller - Turn Up the Fire Zero Charts Peak: #3 So Random C/d Peak: #3 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) I discovered this song at random when Youtube automatically started playing it one day when I had it open. And I loved this song instantly. The song is a pure tropical pop BOP that goes off. Considering how pretty Nova is and how she basically served the gays this BOP, I'm surprised ATRLers didn't bother giving her any attention, other than one other person it seems. Anyways, you guys should totally get into this bop because it DELIVERS. Only appearance by Nova Miller 12. 5 Seconds of Summer - Youngblood Zero Charts Peak: #3 So Random C/d Peak: #1 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) I think a part of me still doesn't understand the lyrics to the song, but the song is so catchy and a grower that the song just ends up being an anthem that really becomes a staple of the year for me. Will it beat out Jet Black Heart for my favorite 5SOS song in the long run? I don't know but it was their best single released this year. Final appearance of 5 Seconds of Summer 11. L Devine - Like You Like That Zero Charts Peak: #2 So Random C/D Peak: #1 Plays: 300+ (Platinum) Shoutout to @Bxtch for getting me into this song. This song got submitted into ATRL Song Contest this past season by him and I really got into it during that round. And because it got a music video around that same time of the year, I decided to give it a run on my countdown. I can honestly say that this song is very relatable to anyone in the LGBT community. And it's another song I recommend if you haven't heard it. It's pop perfection from a pop girl from the LGBT community. Only appearance by L Devine
Inner Insanity Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 I love Spectrum Pulse. Even though I tend to disagree with him a lot I respect him because he presents his thoughts and opinions so well. I actually discovered his website long before he started YouTube. No Tears Left to Cry is one of Ari's best songs period. That chorus is so heavenly. Easily better than GIAW and TUN.
