lhdang2000 Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 8/10. I thought Love Wins' message is too generic. She did try, but she also doesn't want to make her main base mad. Waiting for Charlie's and Sabrina's next entries.

MusicLoverDude Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 Top 100 Singles: 50 - 41 50. Robyn - Missing U Zero Charts Peak: #7 So Random C/D Peak: #1 for 2 days Plays: 75 Robyn took a 7 year hiatus correct? During that time, I got exposed to Dancing On My Own and Call Your Girlfriend, and plus, people compared Carly Rae Jepsen to her as well. So I actually checked this song out when it got released. It was a grower and I liked it enough for it to be #1 for a couple days, but then I ended up losing interest quickly. It debuted in the Top 10 of my Zero Charts where it stayed for two weeks, before descending slowly over 7 more weeks before falling out. So yeah. Not Robyn's best but I'm glad I warmed up to her Only appearance by Robyn 49. Charli XCX f. Troye Sivan - 1999 Zero Charts Peak: #14 So Random C/D Peak: #8 Plays: 68 ***still charting*** First Charli single I actually cared for ever tbh. I only really cared for her album tracks and her Carly collab previously. She's more of an obnoxious meme to me otherwise because her coke doings from that after party she attended a few years back. Anyways, this song is catchy and they both slay their verses well. Plus the video is cool too. Only appearance by Charli XCX. First of two appearances by Troye Sivan 48. NOTD f. Bea Miller - I Wanna Know Zero Charts Peak: #10 So Random C/D Peak: #5 Plays: 150 (certified Gold) I haven't cared for Bea's music since her debut in 2015, but I really got into this EDM collab of hers for a bit this year. This sounds really good with headphones so it's ashame it only got a gold certification from me. Could've at least gotten 200 plays had I realized that sooner in the year. Only appearances by NOTD and Bea Miller 47. David Guetta f. Anne-Marie - Don't Leave Me Alone Zero Charts Peak: #5 So Random C/D Peak: #1 for 1 Day Plays: 119 (no certification) I was low-key slayed by this collab between Anne-Marie and David at first, but my interest in the song really dried up quickly. That breakdown though is very memorable to me so that's why it's easier for me to place this song than others. Only appearance by David Guetta. First of three appearances by Anne-Marie 46. Good Charlotte - Prayers Zero Charts Peak: #11 So Random C/D Peak: #3 Plays: 80 (no certification) I reconnected to some of my favorite Good Charlotte songs this year, so it was a nice surprise to know they released new music this year. And this song in particular caught my attention, because it's about the usage of the phrase "thoughts and prayers"...a phrase we know way too well by this point. Honestly, I'm glad SOMEONE sang about this. It's literally how I feel every time we have a mass shooting now. "They don't mean a thing at all". PREACH. It was so upsetting to see this happen again and again and again and again and again and again this year, including close to me here in California (#Borderline). I wish we could do more, but I'm glad people are expressing it in music at least. Only appearance by Good Charlotte. 45. Demi Lovato - Sober Zero Charts Peak: #15 So Random C/d Peak: #4 Plays: 75 It was really upsetting and depressing to see Demi fall from grace this year. This song broke my heart at first. She clearly has some issues she needs to work on again and she used her music to heal herself a bit. A beautiful, raw song came out of it. But man, we almost lost her this year. I hope she can rise again next year, as long as she's happy and healthy. Only appearance by Demi Lovato (on this list) 44. Kim Petras - Can't Do Better Zero Charts Peak: #4 So Random C/d Peak: #2 Plays: 95 (no certification) This song DEBUTED at #4 because I was really slayed by this at first, and then it fell off 6 weeks later. Definitely one of the better songs released this year, but aside from Kim's vocals where she SNAPPED in that final chorus, the production and lyrics could be a bit better. But hey, at least I actually am open to Kim on here unlike most. Final appearance by Kim Petras 43. Troye Sivan f. Ariana Grande - Dance To This Zero Charts Peak: #11 So Random C/D Peak: #7 Plays: 47 (no certification) Troye wasn't really my cup of tea this year, so I slept on this song until Augustish. Then I got into it, along with the music video. Well, for a short time though. It only charted for 6 weeks on my Zero Charts. A swift tumble down. This song is high though because Troye and Ariana really work well together, and Ariana alone has a lot of power. (and we are JUST getting started with her). Final appearance of Troye Sivan. First of five appearances by Ariana Grande (most songs by an artist in this list?) 42. Rina Sawayama - Cherry Zero Charts Peak: #4 So Random C/D Peak: #1 for 2 days Plays: 74 (no certification) First Rina song to completely grow on me, mainly because of the Into You comparisons lmao. Another song that grew on me really quick and then I dropped really quick. I guess the fast burn out rate is why it didn't make the Top 40 this time, but I think it can now have some recurrent play. The type of recurrent play that LMK by Kelela is currently getting on my countdown. So this may get a second wind recurrently. Only appearance by Rina Sawayama 41. Kendrick Lamar f. SZA - All the Stars Zero Charts Peak: #18 So Random C/D Peak: #7 Plays: 84 Re-listening to this while I'm typing this, I honestly have a good feeling about the recurrent plays for this in my library. It already has aged a lot better than most of the list, hence why it is VERY high, almost Top 40. Honestly, these two together can do no wrong, and I say this as someone that doesn't stan for either of them but respects both of them. Kendrick's flow with SZA's choruses and bridge...everything just came right for this one. Only appearances by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
potent Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Some great songs in this set, All the Stars, Missing U, 1999 DTT was the worst Bloom single imo by a fair margin.

Psycho Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Almost all of those songs are great, especially Cherry and Kim
ATRL Moderator kelly-clarkson Posted December 18, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 18, 2018 Sober is one of my favorite songs released this year, it's so beautiful All The Stars and Don't Leave Me Alone
Kevin2803 Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 6/10 Dance To This I Wanna Know is also great. Bea did THAT 1999, Can't Do Better, Sober & Don't Leave Me Alone
TheWayWeWere Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Missing U is so beautiful Honey wins over this of course, but it still so good 1999 I would've preferred solo tho :eli: DLMA is cute basic bop , we love that Cherry is so good pop perfection ATS
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 18, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 18, 2018 Missing U + Sober
Bxtch Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 I Wanna Know, Can't Do Better, Dance To This and Cherry
Remmy Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 All the Stars Missing U and 1999 Sober Dance to This Nice start to your top 50
lhdang2000 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 5/10 I don't like this sset as much compared to the others. Yeah, it was crazy what happened to Demi tho. I remembered waking up to that news, which was horrifying to know that I could've lost my idol, the one who influences and impacts my life a lot.
Ivan_brit Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Sober All The Stars Dance To This & 1999 are cute
MusicLoverDude Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 Worst Songs of 2018 - taking a break from the countdown tonight to do one of my other lists. 2018 in general was basically known for a lot of mumble trash being popular and unfortunately, THEY got the album bombs usually because of how popular they are on streaming. This list though isn't gonna be dominated by that however, as there were still some bad songs in pop as well, and alternative too. 25. Sabrina Carpenter - Almost Love - This was Sabrina's only misstep this year as this song offers no personality and she sounds bland and soulless here. The best thing I could do was put it at the lowest position on the list as there were songs worse than this. 24. Havana Brown - Glimpse - Oh my god. I can't believe I'm putting Havana on this list, but the bitch decided to ride the mumble rap train and make a pop version of it. And it sucks. It's not higher because Havana is a non-factor in the US thankfully so I only listened to it once and couldn't get all the way through. 23. Nicki Minaj f. Ariana Grande - Bed - Ariana couldn't save this boring mess. Honestly, these two need to stop collaborating at this point, because this isn't their only collab on the Worst of list. 22. DJ Snake f. Selena Gomez, Cardi B & Ozuna - Taki Taki - I'm getting really sick of this latin trend that has infultrated the Hot 100. Literally, 99% of the spanish singing is by annoying af people. Including Ozuna. So...go away. Please. Poor Selena.... 21. Clean Bandit f. Demi Lovato - Solo Yep, Demi made the worst of list too. This bitch KNOWS she can deliver vocals, but instead we get this boring tropical song with a BORING and vocalless chorus. This bitch went from slayful to basic with this. Thank GOD the US knew not to ****ing **** with it. 20. Ellie Goulding f. Diplo & Swae Lee - Close To Me And Ellie has continued to circle the drain with her single choices and comes back with this annoying, underwhelming track with an artist no one asked her to collaborate. Go back to the drawing board or better yet, go suck Calvin's dick so we can get something good from you again. 19. Christina Aguilera f. Demi Lovato - Fall In Line - This should have been an epic song, and instead it was nothing more than a boring disappointment that I never was able to get into. And the Lovatics had the nerve to say that Demi slayed during the summer with her features, when they BOTH sucked ass. 18. XXXTentacion - SAD - Honestly, XXX didn't annoy me that much musically. As a person he was disgusting, but I never would have wished for him to be murdered. His music is not on Tupac level though. This song is just crap. 17. Ciara - Level Up - Ciara came back and well, this song was just a ****ing mess. 16. Christina Aguilera - Accelerate - This was the song that disappointed me more. SIX YEARS and her lead single is this absolute boring crap. No thanks. 15. Justin Timberlake - Filthy - I really don't understand why I've seen this on SO many best of lists so far. You know who you are. This song was just a pretentious, obnoxious piece of dried up cumshots. 14. Flipp Dinero - Leave Me Alone - I don't know what's more annoying. The yelling of the chorus, or the yelling of straight dudes YELLING the chorus for you. No thank you. Go away. 13. 6ixnine f. Bobby Schmurda - Stoopid - Funny how his feature is in jail, and now this little bitch is about to be in jail too. Haha, I hope he isn't as lucky to get jail features so we don't hear from him after this. I still have to roast him later. 12. Lil Peep & XXXTentacion - Falling Down - Only created to create profit for a record label. We see right through your shady business dealings. 11. Lil Yachty f. Chris Brown - Freaky Friday - We do not need to be giving this womanbeater more Top 10 hits. This song is a joke. 10. lovelytheband - Broken - As someone that has dealt with a LOT of suicidal AND depressive thoughts this year, I honestly cannot get behind the lyrical content of the chorus. "I like that you're broken, broken like me. I like that you're lonely, lonely like me". Bitch, NO. ****, no. A broken person needs to be healed by someone THAT ISN'T ****ING BROKEN. GO AWAY. LEAVE. GET A JOB. STAY AWAY FROM US. 9. Juice Wrld - Lucid Dreams - You can't sing bro. "You were my everything, thoughts of a wedding ring". Bruh, she clearly did not think of you the same way. "I still see your shadows in my room" - seek an asylum bruh, you're being delusional. Yeah...literally...this song is just annoying and drab. 8. Bebe Rexha f. Florida Georgia Line - Meant To Be - Bebe: "What can I do to finally get a hit so that my desperate ass can finally put out an album? Oh I know, I'll become a poser and make a country song and make it a collab with one of the most annoying country acts there is". Congrats on getting a hit Bebe. Too bad it's absolute garbage that I never want to hear again. Dye your hair back to brunette and start making decent music again. 7. Ariana Grande f. Nicki Minaj - The Light Is Coming - Ariana was stupid af for putting this on her album. Using an annoying old dude from a rally in the background, for one thing, and honestly, this song offers me NO uplifting. You failed on this one Ari. You ****ing failed. Oh, and Nicki, you failed too. 6. 6ixnine f. Nicki Minaj - Fefe - Nicki really ****ing thought she'd get a #1 with this, didn't she? Glad her rapist supporting ass got blocked. And 6ixnine's squeaker mouse singing voice didn't make things any better. 5. Kodak Black - Zeze - Conceited rapist that does not deserve the spotlight. Glad it blocked from #1 here in the US. 4. Lil Baby & Gunna - Drip Too Hard - My lord. This "rapper" relies on autotune for EVERY ****ing song he does, and yet he somehow manages to album bomb every ****ing time he releases. God damn it. Go away. Can't believe Drake gave this talentless "rapper" a spotlight. 3. Maroon 5 f. Cardi B - Girls Like You - Maroon 5 has continued to put out **** after **** after ****. And this was EXTREMELY annoying. Only good thing was it blocked several crap songs from #1. 2. Drake - In My Feelings - And this was even MORE annoying than Girls Like You. The overexposure was just way too much. 1. Pharrell Williams & Camila Cabello - Sangria Wine - Camila really ****ed her era up by trying to make this embarassing yet hilarious song a hit. Pharrell needs to just hibernate till he can learn not to ruin other people's albums (MOTW, Sweetener, etc). Trust me, it was a lot of fun to post this list without looking up my stats for ****, since I like to be a perfectionist for my Best of. Anyways, do you agree with my picks? Let me know in the comments.
