But that's the point...I mean unless it can organically get there no telling who's going to come out and dominate so labels take advantage of non competitive times between seasons (March/May/June/Sept/Oct/Jan)

It's pointless to kill a song prematurely

A discount now could effect the longevity

Unless its permanently discounted for the duration of the summer

Wasn’t NTLtC discounted debut eeek, it’s still around the top ten and growing on radio.

also,  anybody nit fearing drake for st least two weeks when the s,bum drops hasn’t been paying sttention.  He will have more tracks than Kanye, but if Kanye can get about 30m stream average, Drske should get 45-50 m streams average per track.  Those streams almost get you number one right now.  He should get 6-8 songs from the slbum in the top ten.

Thank you

Amazing considering his singles haven’t been hits like the ones before

In My Blood is definitely a hit and headed for the top 10

and besides, psycho hadn’t really grown, it’s just floated around near the top and waited til stuff came down to it.

basically.

out of curio, looked at #1s 2017 & 2018; weeks after first week in t10 to hit the top:

god's plan/nice for what/this is america/shape of you/i'm the one/look what you made me do = = = = = =

bad and boujee 1 week

humble 2 weeks

despacito 3 weeks

rockstar 3 weeks

perfect 6 weeks

bodak yellow 6 weeks

that's what i like 10 weeks

havana 11 weeks

starboy 12 weeks

I’m a bit surprised st sugarland doing so poorly, but I suppose it has been way too many years they have been gone. Didn’t think they had fallen thst bad though.

nevertheless, Dave easily ends Kanye rule.

Same here. I guess what happened at that state fair in the early 2010s is hurting Sugarland's ability to catch back on. But, as big as they were, taking such a long hiatus made no sense at all.

You're talking about a so g that was discounted in its debut week (Ariana) compared to a song that has been doing well as an album track since album release until the video was released to make it high (Cardi)

Literally whats the point in discounting it right now? She hasnt even done a performance yet. A discount should be a last resort

It makes sense, given what's happened to Lady A. Both groups fill a similar niche - HAC/Country crossover, which has fallen off in favor of Bro-Country on the Country format.

I don't think the State Fair thing had anything to do with it. The Las Vegas shooting hasn't hurt Jason Aldean after all.

Girl like you is very stable.

Is THIS song possibly the next #1?

I didn't expect it to smash on streaming, sales and radio for this long.

I don't like the message that Maroon 5 can get away with mediocre sell out music and be rewarded when females get slaughtered for it...but good for Cardi if that is the case.

oh all atrl members hates maroon 5...I'm happy that they has success now ..and 'girls like you' is a nice catchy pop song...stop with the 'sell out music' mess comments..if all of you wants more ''serious-decent'' music from them then you would had supported 'cold' and 'wait' songs more on charts for example...congratulations to them and I hope they will keep continue to have huge success like this ..17 years of career...they are really a huge band

i loved debut Maroon but they literally sell out more and more each era and don't even try to play it off using flavors of the moment like props.

It's disturbing how they can get away with it.

Debut Maroon is classic.

But GLU get that #1 if possible

The Hot 100 literally looks the Billboard 200 now, wow.

Over 60% of the top 10s of 2018 have debuted top 10. So many that also fell down pretty quickly (J. Cole's tracks, BTS, probably Kanye's tracks).

They count tracks streams for both charts. They should do smth because with the album releases now huge artists debut too many songs on the hot 100 on top 20.

It looks like the next possible #1 contenders are I Like It, Girls Like You, Boo’d Up, and Lucid Dreams. They all could very well get blocked by Drake’s next single though, but all 4 show potential at the moment. Just depends how they hold up in the coming weeks and how they grow organically :alexz2:

I think I like it can take the short game and GLY can take the long game because it will peak in August anyways just discount the song but it almost seems that if I LI doesn't snatch before GLY then it might not reach the summit so they better take advantage of this 330 point #1 period.

I say- discount ILI on Friday let it take over Psycho after it's 2 week reign and then let the drake songs take over and then Lucid Dreams.

Boo'd up might have to settle for a top 3.

girls like you is slaying on pop and hot ac but once it gets added to rhythmic it can try in august to get a #1 then.

whatever is done needs to happen in the next 2-3 weeks before Drake and Lucid Dreams takes over late Jun/July
