There's a clear huge demand of the song (Top 10 on sales and Streaming), most shazamed song of the country for around 2 months.

Harry is overlooked among males because of Abel's slayage, but the 1-2 punch of Adore You, which is still sitting pretty at #2, and Sugar is truly impressive.

Radio has gotten absurdly embarrassing this year.  There are no words.

It is about to be July... and 7 of the top 10 were released in 2019. Last year at this time, only 2 of the top 10 were released the year prior (with "Wow" being released the last week of the previous year).

Only Human/Con Calma/Dancing With a Stranger/Sucker/I Don't Care/etc are still literally even top 10 in major markets playlists. Songs from an entire Summer before, that have been recurrents for nearly a year. Pop is becoming HAC/AC at this point. They're just literally only playing music the audience is completely familiar with and ignoring upcoming hits.

I don't know how people can still tolerate these stations anymore, audiences/ratings have taken a large dip due to COVID, but I feel like maybe they might not bounce back regardless because they are absolutely overkilling songs and I don't see how people can tolerate it.

All the more reason why i don't understand why they wouldn't push IYE when it got great callouts :skull:

Pardon me if I'm being ignorant, but in my opinion the concept of callout scores seems like such an outdated concept, especially when callout scores for new songs take weeks or even months to be processed.

If a song is doing great on streaming and sales, is an inoffensive and radio-friendly pop song, I don't get why pop radio has to wait for callout scores and take their time to put it on power rotation.

It's really silly and it's the reason why we have hits not getting the H100 peak they deserve because of the misaligned peak on streaming and radio. And also why it's more common than ever for mega smashes to spend 20+ weeks on the top 10 of H100 because radio refuses to let them go far beyond their streaming peak.

Callout scores are stupid. Period. Agreed.

Billboard truly should keep downgrading radio in their formula regardless of the pandemic, it's becoming nonsense.

I disagree. radio is supposed to play what listeners like. a song can have decent sales/streams but the majority of radio listeners can still dislike it (people who use streaming platforms =/ people who listen to a radio station)  that's why often polarizing songs don't go #1.  Also a song could be doing great numbers at the moment for various reasons (massive promo campaign, recent album boost, ads etc.), that doesn't mean it's what people want to listen for the next months.

There are very few pop songs that do good on streaming and sales without radio, pop radio would be forced to play tons of urban songs (Party Girl, WHATS POPPIN and Lil Baby's tracks would be smashing pop radio right now).

Not to mention that radio is often the reason some songs organically become hits. especially new artists who don't have the platforms to promote heavily their songs, need radio exposure to actually happen.

I also disagree with BB further downgrading radio's impact on the charts. Charts have become a tragic mess with all those bundles and cheap tactics. without radio they would be even more messier.

We would have every week tons of songs debuting top10 (yeah most of the time the rap songs...imagine every rap album bomb having 10 tracks by him on the top20 hot100) only to freefall the week after.

Perhaps, anyway I'm just arguing based on personal opinion. I don't claim to know how American radio work fully but I do know they move painfully slow.

I'm not advocating for pop radio to play any urban song that is a streaming hit. But just looking at this year, when you look at how pop radio took their time to hop onto obvious pop smashes like DSN, BL, Say So when they're already blowing up on streaming, only to hold onto them for MONTHS long after they have peaked, even cannibalizing the subsequent singles... It's just annoying at this point.

And now because pop radio can't let go of DSN, Physical never even got sent to pop radio. That's the other thing stupid about US radio where it's hard for an artist to have multiple songs (unless you're in your imperial phase like Katy TD era or Taylor 1989 era). DSN must have fully peaked and collapsing before radio can play another Dua song. Or you have instances where labels pull a song off the radio just to make way for the next single. And so because DSN has finally started falling, BMH can rise now. Whereas pretty much in the rest of the world, they're ready for a 4th Dua single already.

And then you have cases like MOM and Intentions where the songs didn't even do amazing on callouts, but somehow gets a push to #1 MONTHS after it has peaked. And how songs like Circles and Sucker were kept on power rotation for 25+ weeks straight :rip: You can't tell me a listener actively wants to listen to these songs for 6 months straight.

Once again, I'm just ranting so ignore me if my argument bears no weight.
