Pop radio moves slower. All the songs above him have been charting longer. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp. The only single that's truly raced up the Pop chart in 2018 is The Middle and that's a true mainstream pop song.

Stop pushing your "Pop hates Drake" agenda when he's in the Top 5 and still seeing big gains.

Every single #1 debut in the past 5 years – Look What You Made, I’m the One, Shape of You, Can’t Stop the Feeling, PILLOWTALK, Hello, What Do You Mean, Shake It Off were all higher by their 12th week (bar Harlem Shake which was an instrumental & meme so it was never going to get radio play) so your point is discarded girl. Next caller.

Literally all of those songs had catchy chorus' made for pop radio. Of course they would catch on quicker. And almost all of them had radio deals which quickened there chart runs. Your point remains invalid. Pop is supporting Drake and God's Plan is on track to potentially top the chart or at least come close.

Those are all pop songs though.

Also if you want to get technical LWYMMD didn't debut at #1.

God's Plan has a catchy hook literally made for radio? It's like if a song has a rapper y'all automatically just label it trap music meant for the underground.

And your argument was that radio is slow, and when evidence was shown that every other #1 debut was higher by now, now the excuse changes to 'well the song is less catchy'.

Any song that spent 11 weeks at #1 should've reached #1 by now was always the point. Even if it does end up reaching #1, the fact it had to be at the top for so long to do that is what is unfair. If God's Plan fell from #1 after 1-3 weeks like most #1 debuts, then it probably would've struggled to even peak top 10 on Pop. The song had to perform past every expectation and more, just for it to get decent airplay on Pop which is a problem since Drake is such a goliath Pop name at the moment he shouldn't merit that treatment.

It’s called “crossover”.

when a hit song from its main radio format crosses over to Pop radio.

it always takes forever for a crossover song to climb Pop radio.

i didn’t see anyone complaining when Thunder was released in April and didn’t start climbing Pop radio till October months after it had peaked on ALT radio.

it happened to Believer, Thunder, Feel It Still, etc. it happened to 21 Pilots too. All of their singles Ride, Heatens, Stressed Out were #1 On ALT radio months before Pop even touched the songs.

If Pop radio is not your format you have to prove yourself before Pop radio touches the song. Drake’s song proved itself and that’s why it’s #5 on Pop radio and still climbing. It’s not like the song is #40 on Pop after its Hot 100 Domination.

Cardi’s song was #1 on Billboard and yet it only reached like #23 on Pop because it wasn’t its main format

The problem is not necessarily that Pop radio refuses to play the song, its more so that pop has the biggest influence by an overwhelming amount and that's why we feel songs should get played there

Nevertheless, God's Plan  really isnt a hardcore rap song and isnt even filled with curses. I really dont see that much different from it and That's What I Like

If anything, Finesse should've had a harder time on Pop than God's Plan

Reading thru his latest posts this is the key right there :biblio: Drake is on top of the world but he's still not satisfied :mazen: people have given very valid points/facts about pop radio over and over but he still is reluctant...

I'm glad God's Plan got a +201 today on Pop, the song may be reaching top 3. :clap3:

Finesse reached #1 by its 12th week, so how is Pop radio slower than usual right now? Also Finesse had no radio deal, and the previous single he released flopped. So the excuse there is?

Drake makes music that is largely consumed by the Pop audience. It's not that hard to understand.

Bruno this entire era has made throwback R&B music, yet it gets huge play on Pop in addition to at Urban/Urban AC/Rhythmic because his music is largely consumed by a Pop audience.

Pop being late with God's Plan helps him with longevity on the Hot 100 though, especially now that he peaked on urban. So maybe it's better for him :cm:
