Is US radio having early year-end lists? :deadbanana2:

It's a combination of songs in the top 10 being very strong. Tipsy/Too Sweet/Espresso/BT. And the songs in the 11-25 range not having great reception. So programmers are deciding to keep playing these tracks until we get some new music.

I could see A Bar Song being #1 on overall radio until after Christmas and with the year end countdowns it could even return to #1 on the Hot 100 in January  :deadbanana2:

Unless a real big smash is released on the fall (that we don't know yet)

If that happens, get ready for something like this:

Canadian Hot 100

most weeks at #1:

37 weeks
Shaboozey – A Bar Song (Tipsy)

19 weeks
Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus – Old Town Road

18 weeks
Harry Styles – As It Was

Helloooo!

Well yes I agree. If I worked as a programmer for iheartradio, this would be my in-power lineup:

-Austin

-Die With a Smile

-360

-Hot To Go!

-Taste

and I would sneak in Tate's It's Ok I'm Ok in there as well.:gaycat1:

Also I noticed DWAS seems to be struggling on radio in Europe too. Which is strange because Shallow was so massive there.

Europe is very late on that one, not only on radio but overall. It's been constantly growing on streaming since day 1 though and now entering/aiming for top 10 everywhere! It's a slow ascent but radio and streaming are actually on par and it's serving

Peaking at different times in different regions gives that smash such an amazing longevity though so we won't blame it :bird:

Biggest update of the day. Enough of this Nonsense.mp3 :suburban:

it has been #1 on the Hot 100 for 11 weeks . Pop radio must figure they should keep playing it.

it certainly should not have gotten 11 weeks but sadly radio is going to be slow to drop it . Pop radio dropped I Need Some Help as they should have.

Tipsy surging is one thing, but why the hell would WKTU power rotate TWO Dua Lipa songs in September 2024? :skull:

17 weeks at #1 (and counting) in Canada shows otherwise. If anything, A Bar Song deserved more weeks at #1, not less.

The current state of Pop radio is so bad, the fact programmers are stuck with the same summer playlist tells you all, plus the struggle of possible hits to connect with GP and the lack of new material... We're in drought. Depressing after how strong this summer was.
