Midnight Sky better not be slowing down. I’m so sick of radio picking up new music fast and then dropping it or stalling in the 15-25 range while they play Blinding Lights, Adore You and Don’t Start Now again and again and again.

Is Blinding Lights the biggest radio hit ever at this point? It kinda makes sense. It feels like it combines almost every popular trend in American music from the last 30 years. There's influences of pop, R&B, rock (sounds a bit like "Take On Me"), it's not hip-hop but The Weeknd himself is associated with the genre so it adds to the appeal....it's like a genius amalgamation of American popular music of modern times. It resonates with everybody. And the lyrics are also underrated IMO, it's not all about that synth hook. "Maybe you can show me how to love... maybe" is a great moment.
