… for only giving us one music video from her last album? I can think of so many songs (namely The Grants, the title track, A&W, Paris Texas, Grandfather, and Taco Truck) that deserved a visual. In the words of Wendy Williams, "should she suffer" for only giving us Candy Necklace?

poll Do you consider I'm Breathless a studio album or soundtrack?
UseYourIllusion2002 posted a topic in Base
Released just one year after Like a Prayer, I'm Breathless was released May 22nd, 1990 and included 12 brand new tracks, with three of them being featured in the movie Dick Tracy. The lead single off the album, Vogue, became a smash hit selling 2 million copies by the end of 1990 in the United States alone. The second single, a jazz song about spanking titled "Hanky Panky" was another top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for Madonna. The album itself was a huge hit peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200 for three weeks and spent a total of 13 weeks in the top 10 alone. The album was quickly replaced on the charts by The Immaculate Collection, which was released a mere five months later and featured Vogue. The album has sold around 3 million copies in the United States to date. This leads to my question, do you consider I'm Breathless to be Madonna's fifth studio album or do you consider it a Soundtrack to Dick Tracy? The album is subtitled to be "inspired" by the movie, hence the albums title "I'm Breathless" (the name of Madonna's character). However, many other albums are more like traditional soundtracks but are still considered studio albums. Examples are Prince's Purple Rain and Mariah Carey's Glitter. It seems like today, I'm Breathless is not considered a studio album, but features more songs that are not featured in the movie than these albums do. Also, if you read articles dating back to the 90s, I'm Breathless is often referred to as a studio album, and not a soundtrack. Even this 1994 press release of Bedtime Stories refers to it as her 7th studio album, not her 6th. What do you consider it? -

poll Does Jack Antonoff still have "the sauce" or is he burnt out?
Dante Silva posted a topic in Base
Jack Antonoff has been the popular 'go to' producer of choice for several MPG's and also various alt. leaning female artists for several years now. He has worked with various illustrious industry heavyweights including Taylor, Lana, Lorde and St Vincent. Objectively there appears to be a consensus that the Aaron Dessner produced tracks from Taylor's brand new magnum opus "The Tortured Poets Department", are of better quality and generally have a greater repeat playability factor than the Jack Antonoff produced tracks. Entirely separately from Taylor's new album, Lorde was asked to change things up by her label UMG after the perceived underperformance of her Jack Antonoff produced third studio album "Solar Power" and as a result he is not involved with her fourth as she seeks to revitalise her commercial fortunes. For a long time many Lana fans were happy with the ongoing creative partnership between Lana and Jack but as time passes her fanbase have become steadily more critical of Jack's work and a growing (no longer insignificant) proportion of her fanbase are increasingly voicing concern about Jack. Many of you will have listened to at least one (or more) of the aforementioned artists and by volition of that, their work with Jack which in some cases spans several era's of your fave's career. What is your opinion of Jack's more recent production work? In your view has it got better, worse or stayed the same? -

Alright ladies, now that this has been out a month I have begun to hear the term masterpiece thrown around quite a bit. While it might not be as big as another certain album within suburbia and Middle America, would you agree that it will stand the test of time? Please don't be messy in the replies

Glee and High School Musical (and later HSM The Musical: The Series) are two popular culture artifacts that centered around musical number being integrated into the plotlines. Both have developed a core fanbase, and undeniably have had cultural impact. HSM has had HUGE stars come out of it (Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Olivia Rodrigo), while Glee stars have not seen as much success. Meanwhile, though, Glee has seen a resurgence in recent years, and feels as culturally relevant (through memes, Tik Tok, etc.) as ever, while HSM feels dated. People also seem to still watch Glee reruns through streaming, whereas recently airing show HSMTMTS couldn't seem to stay on air once star Olivia Rodrigo left.

This is not a thread about commercial success. This is specifically about songwriting. Who is more poetic? Who uses clever wordplay? Who uses sophisticated language for their lyrics. Discuss. for me personally Mariah by a longshot and it’s not even close although I do casually listen to Taylor’s bops, I find them juvenile in comparison to the songbird supreme
