As you'll surely know, unless you've been living on The Outside of society, this Friday marks the release of Taylor Swift's Fifteenth new studio album (11th excluding re-recordings) THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT; Her 4th release of the past 18 months, i.e. a fantastic time for gays who love procrastinating and keeping spreadsheets (I have Mine at the ready). The Last Time she released a wholly new album, Midnights made Herstory by dominating the entire top 10 a feat never achieved before (the previous record for most top positions occupied was 5 by The Beatles and Drake) and never since (until Carly Rae Jepsen drops her new album). 1989 (Taylor's Version) managed to take 8 Blank Spaces out of the top 10, including the entire top 3. Speak Now (Taylor's Version) before it, on the other hand, had a far more Delicate debut, with only 1 song from the album debuting in the top 10 (at #5, no less), with Cruel Summer and Karma rounding out the Top 10. Now, with less than Seven days to go, it's time to cast our predictions: Will Tay Tay bring Happiness to us chart-obsessed Swifties with another top 10 sweep? Cowboy Carter has been out for two weeks now and most of us have had some time to sit with it already. A common critique I've seen from (some) fans and casual listeners alike is that the album is quite long and suffers from bloating. So my question is, have you removed the stuff you consider just drags on the listening experience from your CC playlist or do you listen to album start-to-finish the way Beyonce intended it to be presented (with maybe 1-2 skips)? Personally I reduced it to 17 tracks (technically 16 since I consider Oh Louisiana as an outro to YA YA). I don't think there's any bad songs on it, but there's definitely stuff that adds nothing to the album for me and makes the full listen quite tedious, especially the middle part in which I found myself losing interest most of the time. I love the more compact, trimmed tracklist that resulted after removing some stuff and find it to be a a much more enjoyable and focused experience. One that could actually stand up to the masterful execution of the previous act, Renaissance. (Votes will stay anonymus )
