charts discussion would the DW era have 2 #1s if Ariana followed this method?
moonlitdick posted a topic in Charts & Sales
would Ariana have 2 #1s if she released Side To Side as the lead single from Dangerous Woman and Into You as the 2nd single? releasing a huge pop collab with a a huge rapper as a feature as the lead single and then a pure pop song with an aesthetic video as the 2nd single. it worked for Katy, who released California Gurls as her lead and then Teenage Dream as the 2nd single and Rihanna who released What's My Name as her lead and then Only Girl In The World as her 2nd single. -

Queenyoncee posted a topic in Charts & Sales
...Among Male Soloists "That's What I Like" is Mars' eighth leader on the airplay list. Bruno Mars scores his eighth No. 1 on Billboard's Pop Songs airplay chart, as "That's What I Like" lifts 2-1 on the tally dated May 6. With the ascent, Mars matches Justin Timberlake's mark for the most No. 1s among male soloists in the 24-year history of the chart, which encompasses airplay on 167 mainstream top 40 stations, as measured by Nielsen Music. Mars and Timberlake now share fifth place among acts with the most Pop Songs No. 1s. Katy Perry and Rihanna each boast 11, followed by Maroon 5 and P!nk, with nine apiece. "Like" is the second single from Mars' third LP, 24K Magic. The title cut hit No. 5 on Pop Songs in December. Mars' "Like" bullets at No. 3 on the all-format airplay, streaming and sales-based Billboard Hot 100, after four weeks at its No. 2 high. It's up 6 percent to 160 million in all-format airplay audience, its best weekly total, in the week ending April 23. "Like" additionally leads Billboard's Hot R&B Songs chart for a 10th week, after topping Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for four, marking Mars' first No. 1 on each survey. 24K Magic has ruled Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (where it's also his first No. 1) for eight weeks and ranked in the top three each week since its Dec. 10 debut at the summit. http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7775254/bruno-mars-justin-timberlake-most-pop-songs-no-1s-male -

charts discussion The Killers close to set all-time record in the UK
prézli posted a topic in Charts & Sales
The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" spends its 164th week at #92 on the UK Singles Chart Top 100 this week. They need two more weeks to go to tie Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" record to have the most weeks spent in Top 100 with 166 weeks. Probably, this is going to happen because they've spent 10 weeks out of 15 on the chart this year. Legends only. -

A vocalist, 15 million albums & 70 million singles sold. Why Miley is so much better than Ariana & the Featurings? Miley have 65 SOLO weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard and eight SOLOS Top 10, including a #1 smash hit. Miley has memorable hits with more than 7 million copies sold Worldwide (We Can't Stop, Wrecking Ball & Party in the USA). Ariana has only 3 weeks solo weeks from 67 weeks inside Top 10. Her biggest solos have less than 2 million PURE SALES while Adore You, called a "flop" from Bangerz, outsold her inflated hits "Dangerous Woman" & "Into You" in the US and Worldwide. Bangerz with three singles outsold My Everything and Tankerous Woman with 4/5 singles. Miley doesn't need excessive featureds to have hits or sell albums, Tankariana Featgrande can't relate, she is less than Demi without her featureds. Congratulations to Iggy for made Problem a worldwide and Nicki & Jessie, Bang Bang.

charts discussion Should Billboard Move Toward a Revenue Chart???
frenchyisback posted a topic in Charts & Sales
Yesterday, RIAA release a report showing that steaming was now 51% of recording revenues. It supports Chance the Rapper's complaints that it takes 1,500 stream for 1 album equivalent when most album bought do not even get 1,500 listens. Advantages: It would also pre-empt tactics like discounts from misrepresenting a song's popularity. It would make irrelevant the streaming vs pure sale debate. It works for the Boxoffice. It works in Germany. Should billboard take the jump? -
