weird that fans of "the music industry" feel the need to put down another artist who's not even doing bad. maybe the fact that adele's "flop era" is still bigger than most of their faves era is what has them bothered

base talk POP EMERGENCY: Familia heading to be OUT of the UK in its 3rd week. Surprised?
Alak96 posted a topic in Base
https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/albums-chart/ After releasing the biggest smash of the century 'Bam Bam' with UK darling Ed Sheeran, Miss Cabello is off to a rough start in the UK. She first debuted at #9, but the surprise came this week when the Havana singer has dropped -79 spots in a single week, falling to #88 What can she do to save the era, ATRL? I say sabotage by the industry against a Latina indie singer, because there is no way Bam Bam is not giving many streams to the album! -
They are one of the biggest fandom, they stick with her even during Gaga's lowest point (Artpop, Joanne etc.) but I notice that she has kinda poor streaming stats and pure sales also abysmal. Why is that? Is it due to bad music? Someone enlighten me please.

UK certifications have the grace that they're always up to date, meaning if a record reaches eligibility for an award, it gets certified automatically. UK is among the top music markets, and, in ATRL logic, you're local and a flop if your stats are not as good in the UK. So, does your fave have a solo multi-platinum song in the UK? You can check here https://www.bpi.co.uk/brit-certified/ Britney, for example, has 2 solo multi-platinum hits: ...Baby One More Time - 3x Platinum Toxic - 2x Platinum Scream & Shout is 2x Platinum but it doesn't count in this thread.

base talk NEW Katy's Vegas #s underwhelm compared to Gaga's - why?
perfillusion posted a topic in Base
Despite a very outlandish show that Katy debuted amidst the release of new singles with DJs and major televised promotion, the numbers are a bit underwhelming, to put it mildly. First Leg (8 shows) - 6.8M Second Leg (8 shows) - 5.3M Total - 12.1M By comparison to Gaga’s ENIGMA: First Leg (11 shows) - 15.9M Second Leg (9 shows) - 13.5M Third Leg (11 shows) - 18.8M Fourth Leg (3 shows) - 5.5M Fifth Leg (9 shows) - 13.1M Why do you think Katy is struggling despite so much exposure, songs, playlisting, TV performances, promos, mv premieres on TV for 20M+ people, etc? -

base talk The Weeknd teasing Weaponized Pop/Weaponized Sexuality era?
nostalgia posted a topic in Base
Following his Coachella appearance where in one of the most rare moments of his career, The Weekend is supposedly teasing his weaponized sexuality persona, in which he has shown a more toned body and muscular arms, showing confidence in his sensuality. This is in contrast in the past when he preferred to be covered up. Is he signalling a comeback that will have him officially weaponize his sexuality, which the geepee and the gheys have been clamoring for? It is known that the R&B boys befors him ala D'Angelo and Usher were unafraid to express their sexuality through their bodies and art, so it is no surprise that The Weekend is following in their footsteps and differentiating himself from his peers. This new image might also signal a new sound ala Weaponized Pop. He has said multiple times that Blackout-the essential weaponized pop album-is one of his inspirations. So we might be seeing him explore a darker, bolder sound with militarized synths and productions ... paired with sensual imagery. Would you be here for it??? -

I love Shakira and she's a legend, but she really had put out nothing but flops since 2017. What's going on with her? I was hyped for her new song with Rauw Alejandro but it left much to be desired.

Shakira has released 4 singles since 2020, including a collaboration with BEP. Rank them from the best to the worst: Me Gusta (with Anuel AA) GIRL LIKE ME (with Black Eyed Peas) Don't Wait Up Te Felicito (with Rauw Alejandro)

base talk Will Best Pop Album be dominated for British Artists for the next Grammys?
Green posted a topic in Base
So far these artists/albums are the biggest contenders to be nominated for Best Pop Album at the next Grammys: Adele - 30 Ed Sheeran - = Harry Styles - Harry's House Coldplay - Music of the Spheres Florence + The Machine - Dance Fever I think BTS could replace one of them (probably Florence) with their next album but so far it seems like the Brits will dominate this category. Which other contender could be nominated? -
