  1. So happy for her! Give the good sis a stream! It's been a long time coming!
  2. Both come from a group of all men and having a success first solo album, flop with 2nd album and then.... They're just disappear. Both are sexy, can sing and making good music.... What went wrong with their solo career?
  3. curious... let me know?
  4. His debut album is still charting in the BB200 at 110 and his endearing classic TMTC still doing well on streaming with its powerful video also doing well his subreddit has 29k followers on it showing he has cultivated a pretty decent following everyone stream Wasteland Baby tho
  5. Did the GP realize she kept releasing the same songs again and again?
  6. To be honest, nearly all pop girls who are known to write songs are guilty of coming up with repetitive melodies, but then again, it is like a proof that they really craft their stuff. So, to answer the thread title, I nominate Shania Twain because hers, while also similar from time to time, are quite catchy. It's crazy she has so many hits with just 4 albums (excluding the ones after her longggg hiatus) HOWEVER, MAYBE HER LONG-TIME WRITING PARTNER IS ACTUALLY THE ONE BEHIND THOSE GENIUS MELODIES. Next nominee is my all-time favorite Mariah who is obviously quite playful with melodies but she tends to repeat the same riffs in several of her hits like Dreamlover, Fantasy, Heartbreaker, and Loverboy. Mariah indeed is a melodic singer-songwriter, but her insistent use of sparse production interferes with her melodies especially in her 2000s albums. Another singer-songwriter in the similar vein of Shania Twain is Avril Lavigne. Thoughts? I made this thread because I've been thinking of Taylor who obviously is a good lyricist but has become very repetitive with melodies.

  8. Lets discuss. Prior to the Beyoncé collab on Cowboy Carter, Shaboozey was pretty much a no name and now he is about to enter the Top10 in the US with his new song. Is Beys impact real or just a myth?

    What was Mariah's vocal peak?

What/when do you think was Mariah's vocal peak? Feel free to post some examples of your favorite performances/recordings here Personally, I really like how she sounded towards the end of 2001 the way she whistles "never too far" at the end of this is just divine and this classic video was filmed back then too. she caught the Holy Spirit here
  11. Mary J. Blige - Be Without You Mariah Carey - Shake It Off
  12. in my opinion olivia is the present but we'll let it slide
  13. What is the best lead single from a pop artist in the 2020s ? In my opinion, it's still Flowers by Miley

Is it time to forgive Ellen?

In the ever-flowing river of time, it's time we take a reflective pit stop and reconsider our treatment of Ellen DeGeneres. Remember when we collectively hit the cancel button on her? Yeah, that was a moment. But let's zoom out for a sec. Ellen's always been there, dishing out love to our faves and redefining what it means to be an LGBT icon. She's basically the cheerleader of the rainbow squad. So, as we scroll through our mental timeline, maybe it's time to ask ourselves: Did we go a tad overboard with the public persecution? Are we ready to extend that olive branch and say, "Hey Ellen, sorry about the whole backlash thing"? And hey, maybe the GeePee should join in on the introspection party and recognize that, hey, maybe we all overreacted just a smidge. Just food for thought.
  15. Did your fave get a mention
  16. This thread is a safe place for people with taste( like me ) that absolutely hate this dreadful song. I think we dont discuss enough how bad and cheap this song is and how much it damaged Gagas career( It ruined A Star Is Born hype, made Gaga appeared as someone that releases basic cheap songs without creativity and artistic vision). I just dont understand how such a talented artist can release this song make it the lead single of your highly anticipated album. How can you release masterpieces like Shallow and Always Remember Us This Way back to back and then release this? Share your thoughts about this "song" I wont post its music video , cause that cheap thing doesnt deserve more views. The fact that no one is viewing it , even though it was the lead single of Chromatica, is a great indication of its quality (or better its lack of quality)
  17. Name them! Bonus question: Can an album be called remembered if most of the streams come from one song? In my very important opinion, I’d say no.

What a time to be a Kylie stan....

Within one year : The Padamic Vegas A Grammy Winning One of Time's Person of the Year Kylie and Madonna on state together Many younger artists (Dua, Ariana...) praising her. This is insane
  19. You know what should take a fortnight? Album reviews. - Bloomberg I wholeheartedly agree with this article. Thoughts?
  20. Taylor Swift is the only woman who can pull the numbers she is pulling, destroying forces like Drake, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, and Bad Bunny. Why doesn't ATRL support a woman finally being able to destroy the male-dominated industry? Is it misogyny?
  21. The lambs don't talk about this song much. Every once in a while I come across this and can't imagine the 'anguish' Mariah was going through at that time. This is much better than the atrocious 'Bye Bye' and lyrically better than 'One Sweet Day'. The lyrics are so heartfelt and most importantly not pretentious. The melody is divine. The vocals are honest.
  22. Despite some moderately successful singles, Radical Optimism seems to be a heading in the direction of a slight decline from Future Nostalgia's massively successful era, which has lead some to believe Dua has entered her "flop" era. That being said, this podcast host seems to think it's rather beneficial for Dua to have a flop era as it will help her rally up her fanbase to defend her against the constant pessimism (B side album title?) Were points made? Discuss.
