lovemehateme posted a topic in Base
The #britneyspears hashtag has accumulated 6 billion views since the app's release (plus another 2.5 billion for #freebritney) making her (probably) the second most talked about/watched older generation female artist only behind Beyoncé. Where does your fave stand? Are they popular among Gen Z? Do they know her? -

base talk Is Shakira's look in the Whenever, Wherever music video an iconic pop girl outfit ?
youngpopariana posted a topic in Base
I'm sure most of y'all are familiar with Shakira's brown two piece that she famously wore in the music video for her debut english single 'Whenever, Wherever' back in 2001. The sexy attire is definitely one of the most memorable looks in Shakira's long career. But would it be accurate to say it's an iconic pop girl outfit ? I was watching the MV on YouTube earlier and started wondering about this topic. Can pop stans let alone the GP easily identify the ensemble ? Does Shakira have more iconic outfits ? Has it stood the test of time ? Can it be put in the same vein as those well known pop girl outfits : Britney's red latex jumpsuit from the Oops music video Beyonce's black leotard from the Single Ladies's music video Madonna's cone bra Cher's yellow two piece outfit Gaga's red leotard with the hoodie from The Fame era Aaliyah's grey and black two piece outfit Britney's BOMT school girl outfit Miley's teddy bear bodysuit/beige latex two piece from the 2013 VMAs Gaga's meat dress Katy's California Gurls MV candy outfit Xtina’s leather pants + bra look from the Dirrty music video Kylie's white jumpsuit with the hoodie Madonna's white dress look (Like A Virgin) from the 1984 VMAs Rihanna's dress from Work MV Beyonce's Formation black dress with the braids and hat Katy's Superbowl two piece outfit (during California Girls) Shakira sporting brown low rise pants with a belt and a brown bikini-ish top while exploring Earth's natural wonders in the visuals for Whenever, Wherever. A simple yet very pretty look. It's an unsual outfit when you realize is Shakira wearing it while exploring the Earth's wonders lol. Have y'all ever seen someone use that look for a Halloween costume ? Has any celeb ever referenced it ? I think that would help answer my queston. You can now start discussing below ! -
base talk Christina would regularly kick Beyoncé and Destiny's Child out of the backstage area
Xtianlofbritney posted a topic in Base
The reporter recalls on Wendy an incident where Christina would regularly kick Beyoncé and Destiny's Child out of the backstage area during her tour where they served as the opening act in 2000. He says Beyoncé was frustrated and she would emphasise how that happened ❝all the time.❞ Granted, this was two decades ago and people do change but the moral of the story is... Christina's nasty behaviour towards other celebrities has been known for years. Just ask Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Pink. source : https://www.toyazworldblog.net/2021/11/reporter-recalls-story-of-xtinas.html?m=1 -
base talk Is Queen Latifah The BIGGEST Black Female Movie Star This Century?
GoodGuyGoneGhetto posted a topic in Base
Is she? We have Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Kevin Hart in the male department, all of whom are Globally popular actors and have had multiple WW box office successes, with Smith and Washington being hugely acclaimed and Oscar-winners, but the pool is small when it comes to Black women unfortunately. Yes, we have Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer however Latifah surpasses them on a commercial scale. She has popular movies ala. Chicago, Bringing Down The House, Barbershop 2, Last Holiday, Ice Age 2/3/4, Just Wright, Girls Trip etc. Thoughts? -
Do you think it could be top 5 ?

First Beyonce and now Avril. Why is Xtina like this???
-
It seems Ms Aguilera's mean streak extends far beyond just her peers in the industry, even being unpleasant to a young actor who paid homage to her in one of the most iconic films of all time. When asked if he'd ever sing "Beautiful" at karaoke in real life, Mean Girls' Daniel Franzese told Yahoo! Entertainment in 2014: "Never again. It's actually funny because I met Christina Aguilera and I thought for sure that would be an exciting moment in my life. And I was like, 'Christina, my name's Daniel. I sing "Beautiful" in Mean Girls.' And she was like, 'Never saw it.' And then turned her back and walked away. She was so rude." Are we surprised by this behaviour?
