  1. This song was released in 2001, and was a Hot 100 + WW smash-hit. It peaked at #8 on the Hot 100 and #3 in Australia, #4 in Spain, #5 in Germany, #7 in Portugal and #9 in the U.K. To date, it’s her only top ten hit in any country.

    Was Gagas downfall inevitable?

Her going from from 1.1M 1st week to 250k will always be crazy. Artpops quality was definitely not the problem because its her best project in every aspect. Applause stomps on every BTW material single wise and visually wise. For some reason I think the slump was out of her hands. No matter how the lead sounded, it flopping was inevitable
  3. B Rocka’s IG post: brandy Wow♠️ Dear God, you never cease to amaze me and always find magical ways to help me understand that my work is cherished. Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed and supported my music over the years. #neversaynever changed my life and how I would approach music forever. 4. Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” was released along the Teenage Dream album in August 2010. One thing that stood out on the catchy party-anthem was the saxophone-solo bridge, something unusual if not unheard of for mainstream pop songs at the time. Among album release the song was extremely popular among fans. Even before its single release Billboard placed LFN on its “5 potential hits of 2011” list. Coincidentally in January of 2011 Lady Gaga recorded “Edge Of Glory” for her Born This Way album - another anthem that used a saxophone-solo as bridge. Was Gaga inspired by Last Friday Night, the song everyone saw as potential summer smash, to create her own sax-summer-anthem of 2011? Both were released as singles only a month apart as well! Also which one do you prefer? Discuss!
  5. The Bechdel Test is a standard often applied to films to indicate the gender bias in them. It consists on 3 parts, asking if there's at least 2 women in the movie, if they two talk to each other, and if the conversation is about something other than a man. I'm taking the Pitchfork modification of the test to apply it on music: Have at least one female-identifying lead performer, performing as themselves or a female-identifying likeness Involve the female self, another woman, other women or otherwise an implied female audience in the song’s lyrics Have a central lyrical topic or theme that’s something or someone besides a man According to Pitchfork, "Me Against the Music" by Britney Spears passes the test: With that criteria, I think these Britney songs could pass the test as well: "Work *****" "If U Seek Amy" "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" "Piece Of Me" These could too but I'm failing to spot an interaction with a different female or even at least to an ambiguous audience (number 2 of the test): "I Wanna Go" "Lucky" "Overprotected" How about your fave?
  6. "Under Rug Swept" was the third album by Alanis Morissette released in 2002. It had massive sales during first 2-3 weeks but declined after second single flopped. One could argue that even her lead single "Hands Clean" was an underperformance since it peaked just outside of Top 20 on Billboard Hot 100. What would you do re-do and save the era? Would you have allowed Alanis to take full creative control and self-write and self-produce this album like she did or would you have forced her to work with top collaborators and producers?
  7. The Britney Spears hate (jealousy) has been rampant on this website in the past couple weeks. I would just like to remind you all that most of your faves who came after her owe their career to her. So first, I would like you all to watch these videos: To remind you that your fav could never. Then watch these videos: To once again remind you that your fav could NEVER. THEN. I would like you to listen to this album: To remind you that your fav, if they were ever the biggest star in the world (which most of them will never be), could NEVER executive produce and release an album so innovative, influential, and critically acclaimed 15 years later! I would also like to remind you that after the release of this album, her evil father and team controlled every aspect of her career, and she almost had no choice in what she released, and she STILL managed to release these: SO! Your favs are ****. And you know they’re ****! And your mad. And it’s becoming more and more evident with each passing day. Praise Britney! x
  8. Avril influenced Olivia and Billie, why atrl said she is a HAS-BEEN FORGOTTEN POP STAR so why is the 2 biggest pop girls of this generation is claiming her as their IDOL ?

    Has 2022 finally begun musically?

The first four months felt stale af (bar Dawn FM and Motomami), but we're finally getting major name releases (Bad Bunny, Kendrick, Taylor, etc.).

    Is this Mariah's best interview?

So far this has been the best MC interview i've watched. - Mariah being a total professional about her craft. No shade, no drama, just a sprinkle of diva here and there. She even gave Tommy some credits for the Merry Christmas album. She's comfortable and did not avoid any question. - The interviewer did A LOT of research, being respectful the entire time. He made sure that she was not bored the entire 1 hour. - The audience was mostly LAMBs so they knew all the deep cuts. Overall i enjoy Mariah the singer and song-writer a lot more than Mariah the celebrity diva

Did this Disney girl snap here?

In 2012 Disney star Bridgit Mendler released her debut (and only) album Hello My Name Is... Literally every single song is a bop and could have been a hit on pop radio. Why did she snap so hard?

  14. I feel like the band is underrated. Her voice is great live too.
  15. I just came back from the Future Nostalgia Tour and my God, the amount of energy, stamina and vocal prowess she displayed was absolutely impressive. I was shooketh! Not one faulty note, everything live. She KILLED that and tbh most females these days cant hold a candle against her. I said what I said

    ATRL hates Gaga.

Anything she dose, weather it’s a cosmetic line, a Jazz cover album, not getting nominated for an Oscar, or a soundtrack single. They are always praying for failure and immediately relish in her demise. Why do they hate her?
  23. Billie, Olivia, Dua and Doja are the Gen Z darlings. What do you think their careers will look like? I predict Billie will always have a very stable career with a dedicated fanbase and good numbers. I do think she’s able to get another monster era like WWAFA but even if she doesn’t she will last a long time Olivia is hard to say.. as of right now I feel like she is massive and easily could have the same career as Taylor. However I don’t know how versatile she is considering she only has one album out. I don’t know if she is capable of exploring different sounds. Dua will be a strong hitmaker for years to come, her third album will probably be even bigger than FN in numbers, but probably wont have the same cultural impact. She’ll stay a long time Doja I’m the most scared for. I think she has that Rihanna type appeal and I do think the GP loves her a LOT, however I see her sound becoming tired real quick and I feel the Pop rap boom might become a fad like early 2010s electropop. I feel like she has the most potential to fall down
