  1. Radio deals have always been present, playlisting is key in the streaming era and EVERY major label artist has playlisting going on. The dolls from the physical/digital era were getting booked EVERYWHERE. They had interviews, performances and pop ups at whatever was going on pop culture wise or was popular in the country they were visiting. These were all scheduled and set up by their label to continue to push them into the public sphere and get their music out there. Are we supposed to categorize that as payola as well? ''Playlisting'' and ''TTH'' are thrown around here like curse words when a good label would KNOW how important playlisting is to promote their artists. So why are yall so selective with who you get mad at? Are you gonna get mad when your fave's new lead single has a lot of playlisting as well? Answer me, ATRL.
  2. Grammy submissions are out and apparently the Queen of Rap is under the Pop Solo Performance category instead of Melodic Rap Performance which would have been an easier nom. Do you think this can compete with As It Was, About Damn Time, Bad Habit, Easy On Me, All Too Well, etc and get Nicki her first nom since 2016? Update:
  3. By lately i mean "pop girl that debuted after 2010". Her discography doesn't have a bad album and she just released ANOTHER amazing record. I swear Dirt Femme is another album full of bangers, with great production and some great vocal moments for her like True Romance. The album basically starts with a 1-2-3-4-5 punch and never gets bad after that This is the same woman that already gave us Blue Lips, Sunshine Kitty, Lady Wood and Queen of The Clouds which are also amazing bodies of work. Here's her new album, don't sleep on her! If you gays like pure pop music, give her a chance. If you already like her, go listen to another serve from her. You welcome!
  4. Is taking a stand for lgbt people still a risk for an artist with the GP ? Like we saw that in 2011 with Born This Way, Gaga lost the enormous success she had with the GP. Is it still a risk to make a political album and stand for gay people in 2022 ?
  5. Spotify streams: WBT = 406m Hung up = 275m Both songs were the biggest hits of their 2000s eras. Madge stans keep claiming that Hung Up was more global and bigger so why does it have less streams? Did it simply age like milk despite sampling a classic? I didn’t check other platforms but im pretty sure WBT clears.
  6. It is well known in certain music circles that you can give a percentage of your royalties to Spotify for preferential playlist placements and enjoy TTH and other placements for months on end. I was also told that the pitch Spotify uses to lure investors in uses Dua as an example. It is a win-win situation for both parties. If the song becomes a hit, Spotify gets more money than the other songs. If you are the artist investing in this scheme, you get a hit with massive exposure and much more royalties than what you would have gotten if you didn't pay Spotify. What do you think, ATRL? Is this business technique smart or fraud? Do you think your faves have used this scheme to get a hit?
  7. Unoriginal, secondary, no melody, no catchy, lack of morality.
  8. I absolutely side eye and distance myself from anyone who stans Michael Jackson. Like it's getting weird..... who else?
  9. Written and produced by PRINCE I used to want Britney or Beyonce to remake this classic but I think it'll hit harder if one of the Rap girls sampled it (Cardi or Nicki or one of the legend OGs like Kim or Trina) I think it'll be an instant hit. I take that back I think Beyonce would MURDER this song and I can't even imagine her slaying the stage to this CLASSIC ?? I'm surprised no one has hasn't sampled this song yet ... who can U see sampling or covering this classic?
  10. The time when Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Panic At the Disco, All American Rejects and My Chemical Romance were a thing and had those hits that were so catchy but also had you in the feels? Something about it just brings back childhood memories when times where so much better.

Demi failed to sell out a 1.9k venue?

According to the Holy **** Tour wiki page, Demi's first US date failed to sell out, despite the venue capacity being 1963 September 22, 2022 Wheatland United States Hard Rock Live Sacramento Dead Sara 1,901 / 1,963 $140,523 Are the numbers correct? I can't believe Demi has fallen this much. Her South American dates' numbers look decent for her standards, has she become that much irrelevant in the US?
  12. 13. Divisive, polarizing but really catchy Hey Mickey-esque #1 peaking cheerleading anthems from the blonde Japanese culture appropriating white MPGs of the mid 2000s
  14. .... if they came out five years later? I feel like they would've been easy #1s had they come out in 2017/18
  15. Spotify daily streams The Fame - 1.85m A Star Is Born - 1.83m The Fame Monster - 1.25m Born This Way - 1.11M I Am... Sasha Fierce -1.08M Dangerously In Love - 822k Beyonce - 693k 4 - 612k Lemonade - 478k Bday - 462k What happened ATRL? I thought BTW era was forgotten?
  16. As we all know in week 2 HMC plummetted to 23 from no 6 after an impressive debut. Did this shock you? I mean it was touted as the most anticipated pop comeback of the century, Britney had literally been THE headline news for years prior to the release. Stans had told us all the world was THIRSTY for new Britney on a track, any track. And after all that, the hype died EXTREMELY fast, one week in the top ten and gone. It is fair to say that the track has stabilized since ( in the 25 to 30 region, thanks to extremely generous playlisting and radio payola) but still. In 2022, we know a lot of tracks get the same treatment. But if the hype was really that big, surely it should have been able to hold on to the top 10 for at least two or three weeks ? What does your instinct tell you ATRL ?
  17. Everyday artists are relying less and less on YouTube to capitalize on their music. And if they decide to shot a video, it’s nothing to write home about. Why have mv become so irrelevant compared to say 10 years ago?

    #R9?

Do U think RiRi is going to drop the album before or after The Superbowl?
  19. I know it’s a silly kids movie but tbh it has held up. I had not watched it since my childhood but recently rewatched and I was… surprised how much I still liked it. I feel like other cartoon to live action adaptations will not stand the test of time like this did. It is 20 years old now! The main reason for why it held up so well imo is the casting and performances of the main cast. They all completely understood the assignment and did not change anything too drastic about their cartoon characters. They nailed bringing them from the cartoon to the real world. They didn’t play it too serious and understood they were not aiming for depth but they were aiming for pleasing fans of the cartoon. I could not picture any other people filling those roles. the CGI also held up surprisingly well? You would think a CGI dog from 2002 would look horrible now. But there is CGi in 2022 that looks way worse *cough she hulk* There are several very memorable scenes from the movies specifically off the top of my head daphne becoming a samurai warrior and kicking a wrestler’s ass and Velma having her good girl gone bad era and becoming a sex vixen. obviously I’m not pretending this movie should’ve won any Oscars but if you think about it, is Scooby Doo what other cartoon to live action adaptations should strive for in terms of casting & nailing tone?
