Why is Rihanna such a flop?

Despite releasing 8 albums and several reloaded/remixed albums, Rihanna has only spent 3 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200. Of her 8 albums only 2 went #1. Most of them weren't even close. MOTS - #10 AGLM - #5 GGGB - #2 (needed a re-release to get to this position) Rated R - #4 LOUD - #3 TTT - #3 Unapologetic - #1, 1 week Anti - #1, 2 weeks Why? What happened? Why couldn't rihanna with her 14 #1s go top 3 when random nameless acts were easily debuting at #1 every other week? What stopped her? Thots? Surprised?
  2. "Banking On Me" for me. #26 in my Top 100 Tracklist
  3. I get it Christmas is the biggest festival in most part of the world and her song is biggest ever. But what about outside Christmas? Mariah totally focuses on Christmas now. Good for her for getting that bag but this is making her catalog become dead sooner and sooner then it should have happened. All I see in real life is talk about Christmas whenever we have discussed Mariah. Compare this to Madonna, Whitney and Celine their catalog is selling more than Mariah outside of Christmas. These 3 ladies are going viral outside of Christmas and there are discourse about their discography but nothing for Mariah or maybe even less.( numbers outside of Christmas back this up) See there is nothing wrong in having a Christmas hit. But if artist as huge as Mariah only start focusing on 1 song and that's it. It's affecting her legacy drastically.
  4. Tinashe's Songs For You is criminally underrated by the masses. Let's give it a little love. Stream here Also, what is your top 5 from the album? 1. Cash Race 2. Save Room For Us 3. Stormy Weather 4. Story Of Us 5. Perfect Crime POP PERFECTION

  6. 2020: Don't Start Now: IFPI Top 5, YE Global Top 5, 2B+ on Spotify. 2021: Levitating: IFPI #1, YE US #1, 2B+ on Spotify 2022: Cold Heart: IFPI Top 10 (expected), YE Global Top 5, 1.2B+ on Spotify (so far) Three absolute MONSTER smash hits on equal footing, is this the biggest 3 single run for a popgirl since Katy Perry's CG - TD - Firework?
  7. Ever since Meghan Trainor debuted, she always seemed to be very uncool, even despite her commercial success. After Thank You underperformed, her career seemed to be over. Now Made You Look is turning out to be a viral hit and her career is on an upward trajectory again. Do you like it? For me personally, it's kinda nice to see. Her music is usually cheesy but it's fun to bop to it from time to time, Meghan herself seems to be a sweet girl, plus she's objectively a capable singer and songwriter.
  8. ...Now that Midnights has been released for a while and you got the time to form your final opinion... what is your official taylor swift album ranking? Mine (controversial): 1. Folklore 2. Reputa 3. Red 4. Speak Naur 5. 1989 6. Midnights 7. Fearless 8. Evermore 9. Lover 10. Debut

    best 2000s year-end #1 song?

In honor of the 2022 Year-End charts, I wanted to look at past decades of year-end winners, starting with the 2000s. 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 (formatting is weird, clearly im no thread maker )

  12. Queen is gearing up to release what is speculated to be a more pop/mainstream-leaning album. If she's ever going to do some type of long-form interview, this would be the time for it. Who and/or where should it be? I think a Howard Stern interview would be a collapse. Also, much smaller, but I'd be interested in hearing her on the And The Writer Is podcast (not sure if it's still going on regularly but love his interviews).

We talk about our solo faves a lot here, but what about groups and duos. Who are some of your faves?

  16. Lets be honest, Hold me Closer is having amazing success worldwide. It is interesting to ponder if it was Britney's long awaited musical comeback that caused this or was it the fact that Elton is coming off a massive hit with Cold Heart. The song has been heavily supported by both radio AND streaming, which are the key metrics these days. So is the success largely due to a carefully planned campaign by Elton's team or is this success on Britney ? Can she match this with a SOLO song ? What do you think.. Is this her last horrah or just the beginning of the real comback ? What do your INSTINCT's tell you ?

  19. Despite the number of female artists with massive singles, albums and eras in the last 60 years, only 18 have one or more tours/residencies that grossed +$100 million. Per decade 60s: Barbra Streisand & Cher 70s: Tina Turner 80s: Madonna & Celine Dion. 90s: Britney Spears, Shania Twain, Shakira & Jlo, 2000s: Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Pink, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Helene Fischer & Adele 2010s: Ariana Grande Surprised with the list? Who will join these incredible women in a few years?
  20. The author describes his selections of songs as: "the songs where everything changes when that song happens. That doesn’t mean that everything else on the chart suddenly sounds like this one song. More like: everything that doesn’t somehow internalize or process this song suddenly feels stodgy or old-fashioned. You see those flash points when you really start looking." via Pitchfork Chapters of the book: 1. Chubby Checker - The Twist 2. The Shirelles - Will You Love Me Tomorrow 3. 21. She just did that in Tirana, Albania as her last gig of the Future Nostalgia Tour. The faceless singer, who ranks among the Top3 most consumed female Spotify Acts this year despite only having 2 albums out and Future Nostalgia being 3 years old, strikes again. Why?
