base talk Neither Super Freaky Girl nor Do We Have a Problem got Grammy noms. Shocked?
Specter posted a topic in Base
Nicki Minaj's two biggest songs this year - one of which is a legit solo hit she's gotten in almost a decade and the other of which is most definitely a song, failed to gain any Grammy nominations this year :/ After starting deliberate MESS with Latto over a submission, it turns out the Grammy's did not deem her song fitting for the pop or rap categories altogether. Doja, Latto and Glorilla are all other female rappers that have been nominated this year Are you surprised at this turn of events? -
Her latest tweets have received a crazy amount of interactions (over 150k likes for the first one, and almost 80k likes for the second one). Do you think she could make some noise or is this Twitter hype meaningless as some cases we've seen in the past?

base talk World Cup after World Cup, Shakira and K'Naan remain SUPREME. Why?
Specter posted a topic in Base
After listening to Tukoh Taka, which is most definitely music, one thing remains clear - elusive Saudi Arabian target Shakira struck gold with Waka Waka As always, people will be sprinting en masse to stream Waka Waka and the also excellent Wavin' Flag. This migration is a TRADITION that the GP follows. Why? How did these two WIN? I'm listening to WKW and whew, the way it goes off -
She just finished the first Weekends with Adele show at the Colosseum. Here's some clips She sang Love in the Dark for the first time since 2016.

base talk Do you miss elevated choruses, bridges and outros in songs?
naval23 posted a topic in Base
Back in the days songs used to be 3.5 minutes long or even more allowing for multiple choruses, a bridge and outro in one listen. Nowadays, with decreasing attention spans of GenZ and streaming taking over, songs tend to be 2-3 minutes max with no room for all of these elements that make a flawless pop song. Example of an elevated chorus (No you don't mean nothing at all to meeeeeeeeee) Example of a holy bridge You had your chance you blew it, out of sight, out of mind, shut your mouth I just can't take it AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN Example of an amazing outro It's pourrrring rain, it's pourrring rain, baby come into me, come into me -
People need to realize that a Grammy award and nom doesn't stand for anything. It means nothing. If we're going to talk about prestigious awards, lets make it clear that the BET awards have the same views as The Grammy Awards.

base talk More artistic integrity: Britney Spears or Taylor Swift?
ithinkheknowsoutsold posted a topic in Base
I came across this thread yesterday and I thought it raised a very interesting question, so I decided to put my own spin on it and compare two blonde female pop stars 9 albums into their career who are very similar in stature but very different in terms of artistry: What do y'all think? Remember, this is not a thread to bash either of these very successful women who have both made fantastic music at different points in their career.
