base talk Is Shakira Limiting Herself releasing only Spanish Music Today?
AvadaKedavra posted a topic in Base
In the last 10 years, Shakira has focused on Spanish-language music. This has brought her huge success and has allowed her to remain relevant even with new competition like Karol G, Rosalía, and Becky G, but I feel like it has turned her into another local america's star when she's more than that Releasing collaborations with the trendy reggaeton artists and predictable music to make hits. Also, Shakira has lost a lot of power in Europe and other parts of the World because Spanish-language music is only successful in the majority of the Americas-The States. Is harder for Spanish songs to get top chart positions in Europe-Asia-Africa-Oceania If y'll check karol g is massive but her songs rarely chart big in Europe Non-english music also get less hype from the American Media-Stan Community Honestly, I miss Shakira's English music a lot. In Spanish, we already know what to expect from Shakira (reggaeton, bachata, Mexican....). But in English, she used to be more inventive and always explored new things-experimented with her songs. It gave her the opportunity to explore more territories, to be more edgy. More intellectual too Sadly so many in the Anglo world are not appreciative of her english music. Yll pay her dust. I know her latest songs in English weren't good (Dont Wait Up/Dont You Worry/Girl Like Me), but you have to consider that they were made by very bad or mid producers: William (Britney Jean/Manjobi) Kirpatrick (Matches By Britney/Radical Optimism/Sixteen By Ellie Goulding/Look at Her Now by Selena/You By Miley Cyrus). Honestly, I feel like Shakira should drop the rock and electropop She's too focused on those worlds and they dont bring good things for her commercially wise Shakira should go back to world music songs-latin cocktails in English (most of her hits are ). Also, explore more R&B, Arabic music, and dancehall. Disco music too The sound-vibe of the "She Wolf" album. This is the direction her career should take?? Agree with me or not? Are u here for Shakira going back to english? Is Shakira limiting herself releasing music in only one language? Imagine Shakira career without Whenever Whenever-Hips-Waka Waka-She Wolf......... -
The decline from Katy's Prism to Witness was a 90% decline (and a long break of 4 years between releases) It's been over 4 years since Dua released Future Nostalgia to Radical Optimism. The album debuted with 16M Spotify streams. Is the break to blame?

TROPICUM posted a topic in Base
Sabrina is having a great year with her soon to be smash hit 'Espresso', an undoubtedly bubblegum pop release Dua is seeing the greatest underperformance of her career w her new album, including the first three singles off it Has the GP moved on from her to Sabrina? base talk Will Dua Lipa shock ATRL with bigger-than-expected 1st week sales?
prettyinpink940 posted a topic in Base
ATRL has been flooded with threats talked about the so-called underperformance of Dua Lipa's new album, with creative titles such as "what went wrong??" and "what's next for dua???". Do you think its possible that atrl is actually underestimating dua's star power and she will have much bigger opening week than expected? -

base talk Is your fave a nepo baby? Or has your fave given birth to a nepo baby?
Monday Night Messiah posted a topic in Base
Nepo baby - Wikipedia Wikipedia defines Nepo Baby as: Nepo baby, short for nepotism baby, is a term referring to celebrities whose parents have succeeded in the same careers. The implication is that, because their parents already had connections to an industry, the child was able to use those connections to build a career in that industry. Is your fave a nepo baby? Or did they give birth to a nepo baby? -
Both songs have been going viral on TikTok and managed to chart on the BBH100. Dua's highly anticipated lead single has amassed 400m streams, while GaGa's sixth single from over a decade ago just surpassed 500m. Now that Dua's album has released, ATRL weighs in: is Houdini the more impactful and bigger song?

Two timeless tracks, Spice Girls' "Goodbye" and Avril Lavigne's "When You're Gone," stand out as dignified pop ballads, frequently chosen to accompany final goodbyes. "Goodbye," penned as a tribute to their departed bandmate Geri Halliwell, carries a tender resonance, its lyrics a bittersweet ode to loss and gratitude. Conversely, "When You're Gone" marked a pivotal shift for Lavigne, unveiling a more vulnerable and mature facet of her artistry during the Girlfriend era. Both songs, despite their differing origins and contexts, share a common thread of emotional depth and sincerity. As mourners seek solace in music's embrace, the choice between these two masterful compositions poses a poignant question: which resonates more profoundly as the ultimate funeral pop ballad?

I'm not even trying to be shady How the f*ck she debuts with 15.8M streams? How the f*ck RO does half of what FN did, despite she being more popular now and having a bigger following? What exactly did Dua and her team do wrong? How did they destroy all the hype?

My prediction 60k-70k full week . She needs a deluxe version

Would you say your favorite girlie has a wide range of topics represented in their discogaphies? Or do they have their niche and stick to it? Madonna, for example, has songs that cover: Domestic violence (Til Death Do Us Part) Loss/death (Mer Girl, Mother and Father, Promise to Try) AIDS (In This Life) Neglect/trauma (Oh Father, Live to Tell) Ballroom culture (Vogue) Motherhood (Little Star) Fame (Hollywood, Drowned World) Teenage pregnancy/abortion/adoption (Papa Don't Preach) Materialism (Material Girl, American Life) Divorce (Love Spent, Best Friend, Miles Away) Aging (Falling Free, This Used to Be My Playground) Self-reflection (X-Static Process) Coming out (Deeper and Deeper) Love (Love Profusion, True Blue, Angel, Beautiful Stranger, etc.) Sex (Where Life Begins, Best Night, Erotica, Justify My Love, etc.) Family (Keep It Together) Homophobia/racism (Why's It So Hard?) Janet Jackson: Infidelity (Son of a Gun, You Ain't Right, This Time) Domestic violence/abuse (What About, Lessons Learned) Racism/homophobia (Rhythm Nation, New Agenda, Free Xone) Bisexuality (Tonight's the Night) Depression (You, Empty, Better Days) Loss/death (Together Again, Broken Hearts Heal) Love (Miss You Much, Love Will Never Do, Because of Love, etc.) Sex (Moist, Warmth, That's the Way Love Goes, Throb, etc.) Masturbation (If) Empowerment (Control, Can't Be Stopped) Drug abuse (Black Cat) Social injustice (State of the World, Black Eagle, Livin' in a World They Didn't Make, Shoulda Known Better)
