  3. Beyonce has cited Gaga as inspiration a couple of times and she was the one that called up Gaga to collab on Video Phone (she said this herself in her BTS footage if Video Phone) It looks like she's inspired by the Chromatica Era visuals. you know...this reminds me of when Iggy Azalea took a trip to Chromatica for this photoshoot What do you we, gurlZ? Is Gaga still raising the bar and inspiring the pop queens? Even the ones that came before her?

    Is NIKI an underrated lyricist?

NIKI is a talented lyricist that makes catchy chill pop songs ala Taylor and has a decent sized following for a smaller pop artist (9 million+ monthly listeners on Spotify), however I've noticed it's crickets for her on this website. Is there a reason for this or does ATRL not know ha?
  5. Gen Alpha spans from 2010 to 2024, so they’re basically kids / teens now. Which pop girl are kids stanning the most nowadays?
  6. Lorde credits this with being the driving force behind Melodrama. antonof has been firing up the 80s synths since then but has any of his 80s productions come close to this classic

    Pop girls being cryptic

I'm in the mood of learning about times when our pop girls displayed mysterious behaviour, whether in social media or interviews, saying/posting something of cryptic nature and leaving the audience wondering. Britney Spears, for example, just loves to be cryptic and cause mass confusion. In the past years she's shared a lot on her Instagram account, but at the same time it feels like she's only allowing you a glimpse. She's given titles and names but that no one is sure what they are or could be, if they have meaning, if she's serious about them or if she's just playing around. Among them: "Project Rose" "Project Red" "The Legislative Act Of My P*ssy" "Channel 8" "River Red" What other times by a pop star acting cryptic do you know?

  10. According to PulseMusicBoard archives, Beyoncé’s “That’s How You Like It” was originally planned to be the 4th single from ‘Dangerously In Love’, after “Me, Myself & I”. The song was sent to several radio stations for testing, to which the response was great, however Colombia Records eventually settled for “Naughty Girl” instead. “That’s How You Like It” managed to peak at #20 on R&B/Hip-Hop radio without an official release in Spring 2004 and even climbed as high as #27 on Rhythmic radio, several months later, in the Summer of 2004. (Beyoncé/Jay-Z studio recording, live). Was this song a SMASH-HIT waiting to happen?
  11. For example X-factor, American Idol, The Voice, etc... Would they make it top 20, top 10, top 5, #1, or perhaps rejected on the first round? Remember that in these competitions your voice has to shine, no backing track vocals to help you. Here's an example of an x-factor winner sounds like compared to one of our MPGs so you can have a reference:
  12. -Max Martin in a 2017 Interview with a Swedish magazine: “It’s not every time that I’m proud of a tune, but I am when it comes to a song like Roar.” -Swedish pop masters Björn and Benny from ABBA called Roar the “last great pop song” they’ve heard: TABS me thinks!
  13. Beyonce is seen as the best female dancer in the West. Lalisa is undoubtedly the best female dancer in kpop, probably in all of Asia. Who do you think is the better dancer? Queen of the East Vs. Queen of the West
  14. At one point in time, these two collaborated on a song in 2018 when Zara’s career was on a downhill trend and Sabrina was starting out. Looking at the now, it seems Sabrina has outlasted Zara’s career and has actually become bigger than her WOW co star and has already made better music than her. Has Sabrina become bigger than Zara Larsson? Discusss
  15. As you know, Taylor co-pushed Message in a Bottle and All Too Well (a #1 hit on the Hot 100) on Pop in late 2021. Neither song lasted long on Pop. Meanwhile, IKYWT (TV) lingers in the Top 50 of Pop to this day, despite never being pushed. Why did this happen?
  16. In 2007, Janelle Monáe set out to create a seven-part conceptual series inspired by Metropolis. The series was based around a fictional character named Cindi Mayweather, who was an android that felt in love with a human in 2719. The character is present throughout Janelle’s projects including Metropolis: The Chase Suite, The ArchAndroid, and The Electric Lady. Although Dirty Computer dealt with similar themes, the Cindi Mayweather character was abandoned. Only five of the seven promised parts were released. Janelle’s upcoming album, The Age of Pleasure, is also unrelated to the character.
  17. Released 20 years ago, the song became BEP's breakthrough hit and first single with Fergie - peaking at #1 in 20+ countries and #8 in the USA. It was a massive smash in Europe - ranking as the #1 single of the UK of 2003 and #2 year end in Switzerland, Ireland, New Zealand and the 3rd biggest smash of 2003 in Australia. It peaked at #1 on the European Hot 100 for 7 weeks and was the 2nd biggest smash of the year behind Eminem's "Lose Yourself" in Europe. It has ~800M Spotify streams and 925M YouTube views - streaming classic
  18. Boom Boom Pow spent 12 weeks at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, topped the Billboard Hot 100 year-end chart for 2009 and was #7 on the decade-end chart for the 2000's + #51 on the all-time chart. I decided to listen to the song after a loooooooooong time and after it finished I got myself questioning why was this song such a smash back then. Don't get me wrong, I love this song! But it sounds so different from the other songs on the charts at the time. The production on the verses are very minimalistic, the chorus is very simple and the beat only really kicks in during the bridge. But somehow the GP said YES and the song became a huge hit. Why was that? Is this song a reflection of the sound back then? Or is the fact this sounds different from everything else on the radio at the time the reason why the GP was perched? Does external factors like BEP visuals and Fergie's charisma (she ate her verse tbh) also contribute to the smashery of this song? Discuss
  19. Not necessarily a break up album but moreso taylor alluding to the break up, which happened in april of this year. Lavender Haze starts as the beginning of their love story where Taylor mentions she wants to stay in the phase of their relationship where everything went well. Maroon is another love song about her and Joe, discussing their romantic relationship further. Then Anti-Hero discusses how she feels that her fame will always be bigger than their relationship and she struggles with the idea of her celebrity status being a barricade within the relationship. Then You’re on Your Own, Kid is a reflection on her own narrative and that she feels like she is alone and possibly struggled with relying on Joe? Snow on the Beach, Midnight Rain and Question discuss the incapabilities and differences between her and Joe (he was sunshine i was midnight rain, like snow on the beach, good girl, sad boy big city wrong choices). On Bejeweled she discusses that she doesn’t need Joe to shine and will be well off without him regardless. She sings “and when I meet the band (The 1975) and ask if i have a man, i can still say i dont remember…possibly about Matty chile..👀 Then eventually on Labyrinth she discusses that the love between her and Joe is like a labyrinth and comes with many complications… which concludes us to Sweet Nothing. “They say the end is coming, all you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing” On Mastermind, she actually predicts and pre-calculates the ending of the relationship based on all the songs on midnights. Its like a chronological story where she alludes the break up… which is why taylor marketed midnights as a concept album of “thirtheen sleepless nights” Sleepless nights about her break up with JOE! What do you think chilee
