The song title could be seen as an abbreviated version of his band name "the 1(975)". There are various references to numbers and counting. We know they are rumored to have first hooked up around the 1989 era, during her "roaring 20s". The line, "you meet some woman on the internet and take her home". His album "A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships" had just been released. On her tour setlist, she swapped out 'Invisible String' (about Joe) for 'the 1' (about Matty) right after her breakup from Joe was announced. Does this make sense or should I call the nurse..?

Which artists do you think have great merch? I have to say Taylor’s in the past have been great, you can tell her team actually puts thought into creating merch that fans would actually want and it’s actually of quality too and not just a dollar store tee but charging $50 for it.
