  4. Reasons why it deserves Album of the Year: - the album spent 10 weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200, becoming the longest running female R&B album since ‘Whitney’ by Whitney Houston in 1987 - the album is hugely acclaimed, having a 90/100 score on Metacritic and gathering acclaim from Pitchfork, TIME, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, to name a few. - the album has five top 10 hits, including #1 smash “Kill Bill” more reasons: SZA would become the first black female artist since Lauryn Hill to win the honor, the fourth black woman overall. SOS came out after a HUGE five year wait, with the album first being announced in 2019, building up more anticipation. People were starting to doubt SZA’s ability to deliver another quality album. She’s one of the few female artists who was able to break the sophomore slump curse after a hugely succesful debut album. SOS solidified SZA as the biggest r&b artist of her generation and turned her into a global phenomenon, selling out arenas in both the US and Europe.
  5. What songs were changed for the worse for an official release?
  6. I'll start. Paula Abdul - "Rush Rush" (1991) Paula Abdul became widely known for her dance tracks and clips with strong choreography. All the singles in her discography were popular dance club hits, and her debut album at the time of release was the most successful in history. The release of "Rush, Rush" as the first single from the second album was a huge risk – it was her first ballad in her career, moreover, released at the peak of popularity of strong vocalists in the person of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. The risk paid off completely: "Rush, Rush" broke records on the radio and a few weeks after its release took first place in the US Hot 100 for 5 weeks. It was the longest-running hit since 1985. And the song became the most successful in Paula Abdul's career.

Is Central Cee the next IT boy?

He’s already huge in the UK and Sprinter is a global hit. He has a massive following on TikTok, with a public mixed with lots of men and women. I mean, he’s already successful but can he reach Drake or The Weeknd level? Discuss.
  9. It's not uncommon to see the misperception among some stans that the success of Party in the USA, one of the several Miley's multigenerational classics, was/is limited to the US and/or the idea that it's legacy is only tied to the celebrations of the 4th of July. However, the 12x platinum hit still charts daily in all of the core anglosphere, despite being released 14 years ago. No viral moment, no Tiktok resurgence and no patriotic celebration, but those are the stats of PITUSA today: Spotify (08/19): #55 Australia #57 New Zealand #92 Ireland #93 United Kingdom #98 Canada #164 United States Are you surprised by the long-lasting legacy of one of the most beloved female songs of all time in the english-speaking world?

  12. I mean, look at the material I fear her 2018-2019-2020 run remains unmatched (even by many other pop girls) and she may never top it
  13. Is this tea? I think it is applicable to many situations.
  14. Rih's discography gets dragged a lot for allegedly having lots of fillers, so this is a thread for those who like her album tracks (only those that weren't released as singles) to post some of their faves from her discography.
  15. https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSLpN6Rfs/ (link won’t embed ofc)
  16. Look at the talent: The way she not only has vocals but her ability to convict emotion too that makes her discography so timeless - all these tunes still hit hard today
  17. I dont get it..addisons music EP isnt any better (or worse depending on who you ask) yet she gets a 9? Yet britney never gets high scores from pitchfork... Why did addisons no meaning, generic pop EP get a 9 but blackout, circus, or even glory never did? Btw they are saying addisons the next coming of britney, thoughts? EDIT - APPEARENTLY its fake and photoshopped. Mods plz close and delete thread
  18. We've had the reputation system for some time now.. Which fanbase do yall think, loves to click on that lovely Thumbs Down vote?
  19. As some of you guys know, Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson are the writers and producers behind the global mega smash-hits “As It Was” and “Flowers”. Both were the greatest hit singles of their respective year of release (As It Was, 2022) (Flowers, 2023). Harry and Miley were able to get massive hits from their Kid Harpoon & Tyler Johnson produced mega hits. Who should they work for next and get the biggest hit of 2024?
  20. Every man wants a woman... 30 years ago today, four young girls who weren’t like anyone else, didn’t dress like anyone, who “escaped” the sexy stereotype, came on to the scene with their debut single. As the First Ladies of So So Def with Jermaine Dupri, Kandi, Tiny, LaTocha, and Tamika jumped straight up the charts with Just Kickin’ It and became their first Top 10 hit of their career, peaking at #2 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B/Hip Hop charts for four weeks. Multiple hits and three albums later, Xscape became one of the most popular R&B Girl Groups of all time, selling 9M records Worldwide. Show some appreciation for Just Kickin’ It or any other memorable Xscape moments!
