  1. You can't deny that following up WWAFAWDWG?, HTE had a lot of things tarnishing it, from a big social media backlash and poor single choices making the album fail to meet expectations. But the album, after a long and successful world tour, ended up being big enough among her fanbase, even booking one of her signature hits along the way with the title track. Now she's smashing with her song for the Barbie soundtrack, and in her interviews she seems more glowing that she has ever been. She exudes genuine happiness and excitement over both her career and life in general. She's also at her very best vocally, which is also promising for the next album to be recorded What do you think? Will her next album take her back to the top echelons of the music industry?
  2. No matter how much of a flop they become and if they never return to the success they once had, what MPGs will remain a MPG because of how iconic their legacy?
  3. KatyPrismSpirit

Worst songs of 2023 (so far)?

any candidates for the worst song of 2023 yet?
  4. Let's get a playlist going. Left vague on purpose.
  5. Brazilin lingers for an international main pop girl. We have tried before, here are some of them. Who is the best? 1990 - Deborah Blando, she was a former child singer who was signed to Sony Music Brazil and was in the process of recording her grown up album. While attending a Cyndi Lauper concert, her record company arrange for her to go backstage. Where she end up meeting and singing to David Foster, then Lauper man and manager. He was impressed and even though she couldn't speak English, he wanted her to fly to New York to meet with Sony International. She did. She got a contract and was developed for a year and half. She worked with names like Patrick Leonard and David Foster. She had a song as a theme for Diet Coke ads. She learned English in under two years and spoke it perfectly. The strategy was to star promo by Asia and Europe, Latam and US. She was let go right before her second album, not by Sony's choice, she had a nephew in Brazil with a serious illness and she asked to be let go so she could be there with him. Sony didn't like it, the album was done and promotion was about to start, they said "you can go, but don't come back". She went on to be huge in Brazil. Her lead was her composition: Her debut album "A different Story" was full of Brazilian influences, including a sample of a famous song of ours "Decadance avec elegance" The theme of diet coke ad Her English skills 2002 - Sandy e Junior... Think about teen version of The Carpenters. They were brother and sisters, nepobabies, they started young and by the time they were teen they are megastars. I mean, they had a tv series, a soap opera, a sci-fi movie, and they could feel stadiums. They sold 20kk of record in Brazil alone. Universal wanted them to go international, so they put them to work with the best of the best choreographer, producers etc. They did promo in Latam and Europe, they recorded version of their songs in English, French and Spanish. The record company was pretty happy, but wanted them back at the studio to work on stronger songs for the US market. They also wanted them to go on a radio tour everywhere on the US. Problem is: they didn't want to begin again, they were overworked and stopped the project. They are still famous here, they did a stadium tour last year. They were always the "good kids" till this day, we often say Sandy still is a virgin, even she being married and with kids lol. French Spanish pt: 2003 - Rouge - They were our Spice Girls. They came out of a reality show, Popstar. Their first two albums sold 2,5kk records. They started recording Spanish versions of their hits and even started a promo tour in Argentina, when one of them wanted to quit the band. She quits and the record company decides to stop the international project. The Spanish album was eventually leaked: promo Argentina PT Spanish 2003 - Kelly Key was our Britney. She could dance while singing very suggestive lyrics. Her biggest hit "Baba" (Drool), she sang about a student (herself) trying to make the teacher "drool", meaning "you can look, not touch, you can drool" lol. This was a huge hit and eventually it broke into Chile and her record company pushed for a spanish album that she did record and release but nothing much came after it. Spanish PT: spanish spanish live in 2012 she tried an English song, it was a flop everywhere 2011 - Wanessa. She is a nepobaby, in Brazil she was the main "rival" of Sandy (look above), it was our Xtina vs. Britney. They both were nepobabies, daughter from country singers and they both did pop music. Wanessa had several hit Brazilian albums singing romantic pop, but she wanted to really go for EDM and ditched her famous surname and started singing in English. It was a hit here, but she then wen't back to romantic pop and all her fanbase felt betrayed. She also release some spanish songs and went to Mexico to promote it, but nothing came from it. I think she is our strongest performer, but she has no direction, so she is always leaving projects to other stuff no one wants. Bonus
  6. Her EP and Debut albums were highly acclaimed and loved. She had diverse unique pop music with deep meaningful lyrics about life problems-society (a rarity cause all the pop singers always sing about love and romance and hookups) A great mixture of Pop-Rock-Synthpop-R&B and cool melodic structures. Not another generic singer. Someone with a persona on her own Then she released her second record, and she received backlash due to the album cover. it was compared to bowling pins or a douche Hold The Girl received acclaim from music critics too, but for many pop fans, it was considered mid or not 'good enough Personally i really love the album. I think is a beautiful empowerment record.... i will stan her FOREVER This Hell is catchy as Hell and very 80s and Hurricanes brought me back to the 2000s Pop Rock Disney era The Folky song Hold The Girl is basically my life. Stuck in a loop Sometimes i wonder if she started to appeal to the gay fans too much and lost herself in the process??? The album sometimes feels like she was pulling a Born This Way? Is "Hold The Girl" by Rina Sawayama highly underrated, or are the fans reviews accurate and the album was not that good? How could Rina Sawayama create another album as beloved as her Debut??? Should Rina leave her Pop Rock-Country style and explore a different direction? Should Rina go more mainstream commercial or stay more experimental indie? As we know, artists from East Asia face significant challenges in achieving hits in the West due to the relatively small Asian population to support them and RACISM. When they do succeed like BTS-BLACKPINK, it's quite an accomplishment. Do you think Rina has the opportunity in the next years to become a more prominent name in the USA and the global music scene? or is not realistic? We really need a main pop girl from East Asia, someone as powerful as Beyonce, Shakira, or Gaga-Taylor, but Asian. Im rooting for Rina Cause she's a sweetheart
  7. Who do you think of as having a big ego, even though they don’t have enough to show for it? Lizzo is one of the first people I can think of. I feel as though she thinks she’s a MPG, enough to berate her dancers, even though her album flopped even after About Damn Time smashed. She has 3 hits over two albums. Megan Trainor is another one. After almost a decade of flopping she gets a cute viral tik tok hit and then refers to herself as “mother.” Like girl.. seriously? Katy pre witness era when she was saying things like “I earned my spot, I can take however long of a break I want,” and when she was freaking out on twitter and radio that CTTR hadn’t hit #1 on US iTunes
  8. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJsCXDEE/ she’s giving the fame gaga a run for her money! Singing live while dancing similarly to gaga 2008 We can only but Stan!!!
  9. We are always praising our favorite girls for their support. today for a change we will praise these men for a change! Featuring recently passed Maxi Jazz of the dance group Faithless. "Dance4Life peaked within the Top 10 in Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Greece & Hungary. ahhh a classic in my book!
  10. What was your earliest memory of realizing the decline in the quality of pop music? For me, I'd say it might have been the BEP's My Humps. My middle-schooler self knew the TEA and had to side-eye tf out of those lyrics especially after the 123 punch that was "Let's Get it Started," "Don't Phunk With My Heart" and "Don't Lie." UGH, 05 was 05'ing!! Then what really sealed the deal for me was Soulja Boy's first bop "Crank That" It was EVERYWHERE but I was not having it . Then as years went by, live performances, particularly from the likes of Katy Perry (Firework 2010 AMAs anyone ?) and Selena Gomez, are what kinda tainted pop music's credibility for me.
  11. Kimmo

    Nobody: Gaga in 2008:

Lol 15 years later she’s still an icon
  12. As many know, these four are the most successful newcomers-new artists-young acts in Spanish music at the moment https://www.billboard.com/charts/year-end/2022/top-latin-artists-female/ https://www.billboard.com/charts/year-end/2021/top-latin-artists-female/ Their streaming stats-youtube views are very good and theyre are in the top of most played artists in the planet, but they don't receive as much attention-love as Olivia-Billie-Doja-Dua-Taylor-Ice Spice-Miley-Ariana from the American-European industry-media and the stan community. Sometimes, I feel that if Rosalia-Karol G were to crossover into English like Shakira did, they could achieve a greater global impact and expand their fanbases outside of our Latino Bubble. After all, English is the most common language in North America and second language on the planet, right? They make great spanish bangers. Do they have the Midas touch like Shakira to create highly addictive English songs? and get Nr1's with them? What do you think of these singers? Do you like them? Do they bore you? What type of genres should they try next? How do you see their future? Do you think they will reach further or have they already peaked? I'll share my thoughts later about them, but I want to hear your opinions first Honorific Mention to Selena Gomez and Camila Cabello too. Highly successful But today i wanted to center in these 4
  13. Since she's confirmed not to headline in 2024, which year should she headline the Super Bowl?
  14. Today Sweetest Pie left Spotify's Global Top 100 chart with 848k daily streams. The song was released one month ago and received a huge support from US radio, multiple live performances, a high budget music video, a powerful Spotify playlisting and a TTH promo yet it turned out to be a huge underperformance for both Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion. Thoughts?
  15. With Country music on the rise, will the current Queen of Pop go back to her country crown?

  20. People saying NFR is still Lana's best album are tripping honey. Sweet, Fingertips, A&W & The Grants are better than any song on NFR and i'm not even joking. In conclusion, Did you know that there's a Grammy Under Slay Blvd is lana's undisputed best album and better than NFR!
  21. Basically, we are all aligned that social media can make an influencer, but not a superstar, and the existing stars have lost their X factors and mysterious facade. If social media could kill the superstars, why are gossip sites and accounts are still thriving? Has social media just became an avenue to trash millionaires? Discuss.
  22. Of unreleased music I swear some of their back catalog is better than most girls’ discographies
