base talk We're in a new "golden era" for women in music, is it too early to celebrate?
unclefloprry posted a topic in Base
We know that the imperial phase of women in music was from 2008-2011, when artists like Kesha, Gaga, Katy, Britney, Adele, Beyonce, P!nk, Nicki, RIhanna and more flooded the charts ALL OVER THE WORLD (not just in the US) After those glorious years for gays female acts were still slaying on the charts but only 2-3 in the top 10 at the same time or even those "dark days" of trap/hip-hop dominance with no women in the top 10. But in the past months we have seen a huge number of female artists coexisting in the top 10 at the same time on all platforms: Taylor, Miley, Ariana, Dua, Olivia, Billie, SZA, Kacey, Shakira, Selena, Karol G, Doja and more . Will this be the start of a new wave of female domination on the charts or is it too early to celebrate? -
The story of a girl trying to save herself from a toxic relationship and bad habits. 1. Met Him Last Night - beginng of mistakes 2. Sober - noticing what she did and being sorry about all the mistakes she did (i prefer this over than "Anyone") 3. Dancing with the Devil - promising herself to be reacing her best 4. The Way You Don't Look at Me - after all the bad things her relationship is cracking with all the drama 5. Easy - leaving everything behind it with being kindly as she can 6. The Art of Starting Over - starting a new chapter of her life, u can understand it from the title 7. Melon Cake - taking revenge on relationships that those who tell her what to do 8. MGFs are MBF - new her, new relastion-ships 9. Carefully - a song that describes how she should be treatened in her new relationships (and it's giving Lightweight 2.0) 10. Butterfly - a tribute to his father, as she did on her previous albums 11. Good Place - nice farewall track for reaching her goals that she promised herself to the best with "track 2 aka Sober her best song" and i would like to call this album just DWTD it's enough no need long weird titles, she exorcizes her demons with this album. and i would like to release singles like as she did but there is no anyone and i would like to release mgfsambf last single to the era 1. sober 2. dwtd 3. mhln 4. mgfsambf so what ur thoughts? how would u managed this era? and please be gentle when criticizing my english, it is not my first language

Before you laugh, hear me out Both albums have strong, ambitious concepts Both play with the bionic woman robot alien aesthetic The music goes to playful, sexy, to dark and experimental in both albums The first singles are all about having fun and putting yourself out there It seems like Xtina was going to have similar visuals to the RENAISSANCE tour on her Bionic tour Just watch these two performances and tell me if i'm into something here

Someone said in a thread they think they already worked on a track together. What do you think a Cardi x Doja collab would sound like? I’m thinking something Pop-friendly, but still Rap like “Tia Tamera,” “Juicy,” or “***** Talk.” I’m requiring Doja to do the hook though. Video would need to be a cheeky + colorful (á la WAP). Would be great to have some elements of comedy in there…given both of their personalities. It’s a tricky one though, b/c sonically they aren’t really in the same lane. But maybe with Scarlet transition it’ll make sense next Doja era. Might give them more flexibility on the sound. Thoughts?

base talk Which other Miley song deserves to have a resurgence like Angels like You?
Scars posted a topic in Base
Well, we all know that Angels Like You became a fan-favorite since the first minute Plastic Hearts was released. Unfortunately, it never got the chance to be fully promoted or even sent to radio because it was released as a promotional single shortly before Miley parted ways with RCA. Despite that, the song always had a healthy amount of daily streams and this year Tiktok took it to a new high: it smashed in Southeast Asia, reaching #1 in big local markets like The Philippines and Indonesia, and also re-charted on official Billboard charts like the Bilboard Global 200 and Canada Hot 100. She did nothing to help it's momentum, but it peaked at #19 on the Global Spotify Chart back in May 2023 and still going strong charting there to this day. So, in your opinion, which other Miley song deserves to see a similar (or even bigger) resurgence? It can either be an older single or an album track. -

base talk Throwback: Nicki Minaj lies about her husbands victim being a white woman
punisher posted a topic in Base
Here’s the clip: https://x.com/britneyxmariah/status/1440695471572283411?s=46&t=80JZhFo7OwR07MLcgnxT9Q I feel like ATRL needs to be reminded of what vile humans Nicki and her husband are. She implied that Jennifer is white so she could pull the race card to defend her husband. Let’s not forget her story because to this day she gets harassed and bullied for speaking up, and we can’t let more and more women be silenced, especially by people with power.- 9 replies

base talk Which MPG hit songs have the widest reach to your immediate circles & GP IRL ?
BrentB posted a topic in Base
Which MPG songs have you heard being sung/played THE most in your immediate circle and GP members IRL? I'd venture to say that Rih's Work might be the #1 MPG song I've heard the most from other people (including GP) in life. The amount of times I've heard people randomly bursting out "work work work work work" is ... asanine 2nd, don't particularly care for her, but I gotta 2 hand it to Camila. Havana was TRULY inescapable in 2017-18 . A subway performers with an accordian coming on a subway cars at a stop and started playing it really let you know what time it was ... Honorable mentions: Call Me Maybe, Blank Space & Wrecking Ball. -
Yeah, I was cooking slow About to overflow, Left standing all alone, Left standing at my own, Used to bite my tongue and hold my breathe, Let all your words roll off underneath. So don't you try to count me out Cuz you never gonna take me down You've gonna live like a lion, Louder than a lightning striking, So electrifying, Looking for my silver lining You know you're my silver lining There's always a silver lining Because I'm tired of crying
