base talk Is vacanza-pop going to be the newest trend in music?
KatyPrismSpirit posted a topic in Base
Is vacanza-pop going to be a big trend in pop music? It's shaping up to be more of an emerging trend. Vacanza pop has a breezy, summery vibe reminiscent of vacation. Conceptually it evokes a more carefree state of mind with a summer vacation aesthetic. We've seen artists like Janelle Monáe and Miley Cyrus adopt this imaginary for their 2023 albums 'The Age Of Pleasure' and 'Endless Summer Vacation'. Now Dua's new album also plays with the same breezy and summery themes in her latest album. Do you think vacanza-pop is shaping up to become a bigger thing in music after the whole nu-disco trend of the early 2020s? Do we see a trend emerging or is it just a coincidence. -

So far we have had: Rob Stewart (94) Lenny Kravitz (05) The Rolling Stones (06) Stevie Wonder (12) Madonna (24) Who is next in line? -
This means when she abandons this era - "I'm Not Dead" is coming P!nk had her biggest smash era in her sophomore era with Missundaztood while Dua had hers with Future Nostalgia Their 3rd eras were not commercially successful with "Try This" being a 90% decline for Pink - and it's looking like Radical Optimism is following suit Thoughts? Houdini was her "Feel Good Time" Training Season was her "Trouble" Illusion was her "God is a DJ" Her "Last to Know" is coming!

base talk Do you stan artists when they are underperforming compared to their last era?
fememeist posted a topic in Base
I had burnout from Dua Lipa with Future Nostalgia reissue, but with the current rollout performance of the three singles and the streams(plus i actually love the album moreso than FN since im more into chill vibey music and These Walls >>>>), it feels like she's my best kept secret sauce artist and I'm so happy because it's not like a Taylor post-folklore-to-TTPD situation where she's too big where it's annoying -
Considering he was name dropped by Taylor and got people talking a little bit and releasing a collab with K-pop group Stray Kidz next week will his first single in almost a year be a hit? I think he may have the opportunity to have his biggest debut on spotify global if his team gives him good playlisting. What do you think? His last single "Lipstick" debuted with about 750k streams globally, prior to that "Thats Not How This Works" debuted with 1.2 million streams. His biggest solo debut is Light Switch with 2.7 m

Who was vocally better in this performance?

I've been thinking a lot about this in relation to Dua's Radical Optimist era. She followed the traditional album rollout like a rulebook: it was a six month long promo campaign with 3 singles, remixes, live versions, playlisting. She performed in every award show, went to every TV show, internet show, podcast, Tiktok, several magazine covers, red carpets, new boyfriend. She played every move there is to play. And yet... nothing. Of course, there is something to be said about the music itself which is lackluster and did connect with audiences. But I feel like back in the day, the promo and strong rollout could at least get you a decent first week and a top 10 hit. When we look at the recent most successful eras from mainstream stars, most of them had very little promo. Can we say that the traditional album rollout system as we know it is obsolete? Does it have more to do with the specific artist and the music? What is the best way to go nowadays?

Lemme start Jack Antonoff (Always the Same production tricks. Always recycling ideas ZzZzZ. Always the same basic Synthpop) Oren Yoel (Urban producer makin a Country Record) Pharrell (Amazing songs and genre experimentation from Shakira but the production feels a bit cheap/like demos/songs badly cutted) He was good with the Neptunes but some of his pop productions definitely feel very simplistic-amateurish. Shakira was not the only victim of Pharrell Your turn. Post yours

Calling each other gay on every single one of these diss tracks. Like, shut up and get a room.

It seems pretty likely that no one is unseating Taylor Swift from the #1 slot at this point. But what about 2nd place? With the onslaught of albums by popular female artists this year, who do you think will eventually end up with the biggest female album of the year after 'TTPD'?

Both are unpopular and there were better single choices that should have been a single instead of these two.

do you think the fact that Dua doesn't have an ATRL banner contributed to her poor sales? I think so
