Shakira broke the internet, Kylie got a top-10 and is somehow getting played on US radio, Beyoncé has the highest-grossing female tour, Madonna is actually charting on Spotify... It's the year of the hag and we love to see it.

base talk Western female artists' album sales statistics on Oricon, Japan
downtown posted a topic in Base
While the artists' stans were arguing in the Internet, I noticed that the Japanese sales figures they used were often wrong, such as "Taylor sold 3.3 million in Japan", but this is actually inaccurate, as a million of the 3.3 million were sales of "配信 " of singles. " It would be absurd to add these digital downloads directly to pure physical album sales, so I decided to make a long-term update thread aimed at presenting the total number of albums sold by these Western artists on Oricon. However, please note that Oricon does not calculate the sales outside the chart, nor does it count the imported CDs before 2003. -
I remember how in 3rd grade I saw "Fergalicious" on MTV, after which I went to the mall with my parents and bought Fergie's album. This was my first CD.

Well, is it? Some facts: -Hit #1 on the BBH100, Fleetwood Mac's only #1 -Song from the album Rumors, which is 20X platinum in the US (I can't find a certification for the song itself) -Self-written by Stevie Nicks in Sausalito, CA (just north of the Golden Gate Bridge) -It was inspired by the relationship troubles within the band members -Has entered the BBH100 and other worldwide charts multiple times since its release in 1977, most recently in October 2020, where it hit #12! -One of the top 50-most streamed tracks on Spotify (1.3 billion, despite being released 45+ years ago) -On Rolling Stones' "500 Best Songs of All Time" list, published in 2021 ^^I realize a lot of these are commercial-success centered and that does not automatically make a song the GOAT, but... I believe in this case it does! Thoughts?

Doja, SZA and Cardi already made us sure that their careers are not their priorities with their constant meltdowns. Olivia and Billie already achieved so much with their debuts, they are just chilling rn without caring too much about comercial success. I feel like Dua is the only one who wants to on TOP. Why is that?

EXAMNPLES: Cut to start straight from "Have you got your..." Spoken part completely missing from album/single versions. Extended intro. What else?

base talk Will Olivia Rodrigo maintain commercial staying power???
smartalek22 posted a topic in Base
After a long array of monstrous hits, it seems her latest single 'Bad Idea Right' seems to be performing a bit worse than anything she's put out prior. Is this just an one-off flop in her career or the beginning of her commercial downfall? I think she could've been much bigger if there wasn't such a wait between Sour and Guts.
