    Why is Madonna so polarizing?

Rebel, rock star, innovative, fearless and vogue are just a few words to describe Madonna, but she has always been a Marmite kind of artist in a sense that you either love or hate her. Despite her being the biggest selling female recording artist, winning countless awards and universal praise from both the critics and public, she's also one of the most polarizing artists on earth, even more-so now that she's in her 60's. Ever since she performed Like A Virgin live on the MTV awards, she has been dragged over the coals for upsetting so many over the last 40 years - important figures such as the Pope / Vatican for the "Like A Prayer", Blond Ambition & Confessions controversies, to Trump, and (what feels like) an endless queue of venomous celebrities like Elton, Cher and a wave of angry detractors. Over the last few years, the dislike for Madonna has intensified, but why? She's still the same formidable woman she was 40 years ago, so what's changed? Is it because she displays narcissism, yet still remains persistent, controlling and hard-working at 65? Or maybe it's because she's self-absorbed, unapologetic, assertive and powerful - adjectives which describe the perfect alpha - traits that are fine for a man, but not a woman? Detractors always say she has minimal talent and doesn't deserve her global success, while others disagree. She goes beyond music and talent and explores attitude, fashion and lifestyle. International authors labelled her the Queen of Pop because of her socio-cultural impact, which rouses interest from sociologists, historians and social scientists. Her music and flair never go out of style. She has constantly reinvented herself and sets trends, regardless of era and timeline. She is an empire and a legend but some say she has simply lived too long to be a villain, so is this the reason why she's resented more than ever in 2023? Personally, I think it's an amalgamation of everything above, but her age certainly plays a significant part than most. The fact that she's achieved so much and still refuses to settle down and put her Cardigan and Slippers on infuriates so many, especially now that her sell out tour is on the horizon. If a much older Cher and Elton can continue to work (without any pushback from the GP), why can't Madonna?
  2. The way she was genuinely going through it
  3. The original (that we only acknowledge), with SZA was the last remaining song from Summer Walker's last album on the chart. It may reenter after Diddy's album tracks disappear. Was this your favorite track off Summer Walker's last album?
  4. I love this song, but it's like 64 kbps.
  5. if signed to a US/Global as solo recording artist will LISA of Blackpink get the highest pure sales by female this decade? Adele has the highest pure sales for this decade IFPI: 5M CM: 3.9M
  6. For as much as we like to say that monoculture doesn’t exist anymore, Taylor seems to be omnipresent. You can’t escape any pop culture event or discussion anymore without her name being mentioned somehow. Are you tired of her dominating pop culture right now? I’m curious. Discuss and keep it cute
  7. The video for her first single Obsessed has been uploaded to her vevo channel Also in the description it says "© 2021 Sandlot Records, a division of UMG Recordings, Inc."
  8. She came exploding onto the scene with her first era, Drivers License and followed it up with another peak in Good 4 U. Her sophomore era is looking cute and going smoothly. Having a 1# songs and snatched another top 10. How do you see her career continuing from here on out?

    Is "Free" a cult classic?

Natalia just had that je ne sais quoi!
  10. After listening to Olivia’s album I can’t help but feel disappointed by the very immature/naïve lyrics, songs like "pretty isn’t pretty" and "Get him back" sound like they were written for a Disney show and bring pretty much nothing new to the table. Upon comparison to her Gen Z peers, I feel like only Pinkpantheress can actually write about the anxiousness, expectations and disappointments of early adulthood. She reminds me a LOT of Lily Allen. And before you call me old, I am myself Gen Z and fall into both girls’ age bracket. What do you think?
  11. She was literally everywhere during the 90's couldn't escape her at all, she had her own doll Movies: Was the very first Black Disney Princess
  12. I always think of (I Got That) Boom Boom for some reason.

  14. I tried to pair their most equal albums (and songs from those projects) in terms of quality, importance, sound and/or success to make it a fair match-up Choose wisely: 1 Ray of Light vs Folklore Frozen vs Cardigan 2 Like a Prayer vs Red Like a Prayer vs All Too Well 3 Bedtime Stories vs Evermore Secret vs Willow 4 True Blue vs 1989 Live to Tell vs Blank Space 5 Confessions vs Midnights Hung Up vs Anti-Hero 6 Erotica vs Reputation Rain vs Delicate 7 Music vs Fearless Don't Tell Me vs You Belong With Me 8 American Life vs Lover Die Another Day vs Cruel Summer 9 Like a Virgin vs Speak Now Like a Virgin vs Enchanted 10 Madonna vs Taylor Swift Holiday vs Our Song
  15. In your opinion what are the funniest Stan Wars?
  16. A well-rounded career of hits, acclaim, touring power, and celebrity fame this year. Is this agreed?
  17. Imagine a remarkable scenario where you find yourself in the presence of an angel who bears a message of immense significance. This celestial messenger reveals that you have been chosen by God to make a single wish, and remarkably, this wish carries no divine or earthly consequences whatsoever (unless you obviously wish for something that will impact you in this way directly). However, there is a catch: your wish cannot be for your own personal desires; it must be something that you genuinely believe will make the world a better place. Now, the intriguing part is that there are specific rules to follow in making this wish, rules that are designed to make you think deeply and carefully about your choice. Here they are: 1. The Wish's Intent: Your wish, first and foremost, should mirror your vision of an improved world. There is no objective morality here, but God knows your heart, so your wish should ultimately reflect your sincere aspiration to enhance the world in some manner; if that includes something morally divisive like k*lling but you sincerely believe it would improve the world, the wish is allowed. Example: Suppose you genuinely believe that dismantling privacy barriers would lead to greater transparency and, in turn, foster societal accountability. Your wish could be for total transparency, where all personal and public information is accessible to anyone. While some may view this as a gross invasion of privacy, you argue it would ultimately curb corruption and deceit, serving the greater good. 2. The Limitation of Influence: Suppose your wish involves controlling or compelling others in some way. There's a caveat – you can indeed wield this power, but there's a cap to it. You can only mentally influence up to thirty individuals simultaneously, and no more. Example: If your wish involves exerting control or influence over others, consider a scenario where you believe that world peace could only be achieved by compelling thirty world leaders to act and decisions that benefit the the world as a whole. You may wish to influence these leaders to act in concert for global harmony. Although this might be seen as infringing upon the autonomy of nations, you argue that it's a necessary sacrifice to prevent conflicts and suffering. 3. One and Only: A stark and simple directive, this rule asserts that you have but one shot at making a wish. There's no wishing for additional wishes or any other loopholes. 4. The Bounds of Possibility: Your wish must be firmly rooted in the realm of what's physically possible within the confines of your reality. You cannot wish for things that defy the laws of nature or the boundaries of your world. Example: Photosynthesis, a process exclusive to plants, allows them to convert sunlight into energy by utilizing chlorophyll. Attempting to bestow this capability upon humans challenges reality, as it contradicts the well-established principles of human biology. While the intention behind the wish may be to address energy and food resource issues, it neglects the intricate complexities of human physiology, which relies on a different metabolic system. In this extraordinary moment, you stand at the crossroads of choice and consequence. Your wish, once made, will shape the course of events in the world. It's a momentous decision, guided by these simple yet profound rules, as you become the architect of a brighter future. What will your wish be?
