  1. The amount of hate this bop gets is so not fair Projected to be another #1 for her, it was released as the lead single of Damita Jo shortly after the Superbowl controversy, and stalled at #45 on the Hot 100, becoming her lowest peaking single in over 20 years since her 1983 single Come Give Your Love to Me, and began a string of underperformances for her. It has less than 1 million streams on Spotify, and has 272k YouTube views.
  2. The Global Impact Award comes in two tiers: 1. Original / Premium: The televised version which looks like a real Grammy, but coated in black paint. John Legend, Dr. Dre and Jay-Z got one. 2. Replica: A plaque made out of cheap crystal with a Grammy logo on it. Awarded to Missy Elliott, Lil Wayne, Mariah and Lenny. Why is there a tier system? Why did they give Mariah the replica version instead of the premium one? Grammy Global Impact Award - Wikipedia (see info here)
  3. Billie and Olivia transitioned from massive eras with CULTURAL RELEVANCE (wwafawdwg/sour) to eras that are now considered "just there" (guts/happier than ever)? They were unable to replicate the success of their first eras, lacking the strong impact and Smash Hits they once had???? There is notably less media frenzy and general public excitement surrounding their last eras, accompanied by some instances of backlash.... Comparatively, their YouTube views and chart positions are noticeably mid-low in contrast to their initial successes. These eras cannot be classified as sophomore slumps, as they still achieved some solid milestones but are perceived as underperformances??? Were our expectations not met? The positive aspect of these eras lies in how they showcased artistic growth. Props to them for that However, the question arises: is artistic development sufficient to sustain them in the long run? in the eye of the GP? Im talking about the mainstream one road. Is it time for them to reinvent themselves? Did Olivia and Billie play it "too safe" with their second albums? Do we need more maximalism from them? more controversy? drama-circus? crazyness? So, they take over everyone else? What are your thoughts hennie? Doja Cat, riding the hype train from her powerful album "Planet Her," made a risky move with "SCARLET." Despite the album featuring hits like Paint The Town Red , it faced challenges in terms of sales. The album's positions globally are very disappointing compared to her previous era. The certifications rare. Everything went bad Check wikipedia for stats Despite Doja Cat's attempt to focus on "music over charts" and showcasing her "authentic self" "art", the album did not secure any Grammy awards Lol. The lack of recognition prompts the question: Was Scarlet a bad career decision? Considering these factors, some may argue that it could be time for Doja to revert to her Pop style. Should she consider returning to the Pop genre to revive her commercial success and goodwill? Dua Lipa, the reigning queen of the 2020s with her addictive future nostalgia disco music, captured the essence of the era with hits like "Dance the Night Too." However, a downturn occurred with the release of "Houdini," as predicted by some due to its producer's association with "Perfect Illusion." one of Gaga worst songs ever Fans are also expressing concern about the album's psychedelic-kaleidoscope theme, fearing it might not be "commercial enough." "too weird" Adding to the challenges, her movie "Argylle" is deemed a massive bomb Why are not the stars aligned for Dua this time? In light of these setbacks, there is anticipation for Dua to salvage-rescue this era with "Training Season." Where is "Training Season," and why is it taking so long? Her team fu**up??? The song is hot. Hope it turns into a Hit!!! Is Dua Lipa in troublesome territory sistrens???? Then we have a geriatric popstar from the 2000s decade stomping on everyone. Even with the the curse of ageism This popstar is demolishining everyone right and left She leading all the Conversations N Commotion in Northamerica and sometimes the World Gen Z is even more interested about her than all the newcomers. Is not that weird? Cause every decade the newcomers singers win all over the old popstars. We went from Madonna To Mariah to Britney To Gaga......But something happened The old popstar took over all the new faces. And there are also some popstars from the Primal times of 90s-2000s who are experiencing significant cultural comebacks today. Surprisingly, they are generating more buzz and excitement-commentary than some of our newer talents. Anyone here worried about the new popstars/Gen Z Popstars? How they've had trouble maintaining their longevity and are losing public attention? To the point that past popstars are overshadowing them? I believe these four new popstars are the future, and I want them to succeed, but I'm concerned they might not find the right way to do it. They could be successful in the underground scene like LANA DEL REY, and that's great, but there are certain things that being in the spotlight on the global stage provides. The big tours. the big videos. the big promo. the Cultural talk. Should we be more supportive of our young Popstars this year? Are you ready to Stream their music more? Olivia guts expanded edition? Dua Training season? Doja next alberm? Billie upcoming rock record?
  4. Omg the way Alicia has the Grammy's in a chokehold Not a 20 year old album winning a Grammy in 2024 https://twitter.com/PopBase/status/1754252824047734882?t=DdRo7sAEvj-f00XILdMrvA&s=19
  5. There were questions and doubts regarding whether Taylor Swift had surpassed the likes of Beyoncé, Madonna, and others. Now, with her achievement of being a 4-time Grammy Album of the Year (AOTY) winner, is it safe to say that she has surpassed every pop girl?
  6. So we know they have been ghost silent about each other for the past 2 years. Last night, were they just being professional? OR have they had this secret agreement to ignore each other for the past 2yrs and have been giggling off camera all this time? A few things: - Taylor standing and singing to Vampire. - Olivia smiling and clapping for Taylor's win - Olivia seemingly looking excited about Taylor's new album announcement. Have we created this feud in our minds? Or could it be they are not friends due to the legal issues, but there's no bad blood either.
  7. 'Cause karma is my boyfriend Karma is a god Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend Karma's a relaxing thought Aren't you envious that for you it's not? Sweet like honey, karma is a cat Purring in my lap 'cause it loves me Flexing like a goddamn acrobat Me and karma vibe like that' With other better alternatives out there? Discuss!
  8. I feel most of the talk is still about the Grammys being racist but people didn't flinch about Taylor's win. It was expected and most people didn't care anymore. If she wins another one I think people will care even less
  9. Also T-Pain being the least "thug" of all the rappers at the time is just
  10. Does this fruit look familiar?
  11. I feel albums wise it is. It clearly is her first era that smashed in Europe - she's made top 10 year end in multiple European countries for 2 years Even 1989 didnt have that high year end positions worldiwde throughout Europe. and its smashing just as hard in her typical markets of Oceania and America and Asia. But singles wise and culture wise no? Thoughts?
  12. And you're the only one left Dancing while they're on the floor Time to go
  13. Not only did Miley win her first Grammy's this year - she won it in one of the Big 4 categories against huge competition - beating Taylor, Billie, SZA and Olivia and more. It was one of the most defining songs of the year for sure, but did it deserve ROTY in your eyes? "Flowers" – Miley Cyrus "Worship" – Jon Batiste "Not Strong Enough" – Boygenius "What Was I Made For?" – Billie Eilish "On My Mama" – Victoria Monét "Vampire" – Olivia Rodrigo "Anti-Hero" – Taylor Swift "Kill Bill" – SZA
  14. What do you think is the Queef of Rap doing? What made her go offline?
  15. What is the biggest pop era of the 21st century ?
  16. The credit rule for who can share the Grammy of AOTY has changed multiple time in recent years 2018–2020: Artist, featured artist, producer, songwriter (of new material), mastering engineer, and recording engineer or mixer (only those who were credited on at least 33% playing time of the album) 2021–2023: Artist, featured artist, producer, songwriter (of new material), mastering engineer, and recording engineer or mixer (regardless of credited playing time) 2024–future: Artist, featured artist, producer, songwriter (of new material), mastering engineer, and recording engineer or mixer (only those who were credited on at least 20% playing time of the album) This means if Midnights won in last year's Grammy then Lana will be an AOTY winner as well.
  17. I still think it's one of her best songs and holds up despite flopping completely, what do you think?
  18. Björk - 16 Martina McBride - 14 Toshiko Akiyoshi - 14 Diana Ross - 13 Katy Perry - 13 Nicki Minaj - 12 Vanessa Williams - 11 Lana Del Rey - 11 Janelle Monáe - 10 Sia - 9 Kelly Price - 9 Which of these artists will snatch Björk's record?
  19. This decade HER won SOTY (2021) and Lizzo won ROTY (2023), but when it comes to AOTY it's been 25 years since a black woman won AOTY. The last one to do it was Lauryn Hill in 1999. This year SZA had everything to win it but still it wasn't enough for the Grammy voters. SOS: 10 weeks at #1 (the most for any black female since The Bodyguard) Massive #1 hit; Massive #2 hit and other top 10 hits Most top 10 weeks for a black female album ever 90 metacritic score (more than the current AOTY year winner) Yet she lost against an artist with multiple AOTY wins For comparison after 66 years of history: Taylor Swift = 4 AOTY wins Black Women: 3 AOTY wins (Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston & Lauryn Hill) Will a black female win AOTY again? Or will Taylor get a 5th AOTY first?

    Shakira wasted all her hype

Imagine performing at the Super Bowl, VMAs, Latin Grammys, getting 2 global hits, getting a huge statue unveiled in your home county -- and still deciding to delay your album and tour. And the next single is probably going to be some random collab with a C-list Latin artist intended to promote Sony Music's roster. I'm a huge Taylor fan, and her album announcement really underscored how Shakira lets opportunities pass her by all the time. With a record label like Interscope or Republic, they would have taken advantage of all these moments instead of letting Shakira delay everything.
  21. I'm sorry but WHO knew Miss Duff was gonna serve as hard as she did in '07 Honorable mention to Play With Fire as well!
