Madonna's first two albums were carefree pop without any kind of insight into who Madonna actually was. Her 3rd album was a step into a different direction, with deeper and more meaningful themes being explored, while retaining a lot of the carefree songs. It's only with her 4th album that she fully matured her sound and lyrics. We all know that Madonna was more than just a pop star and always had a lot to say about sociopolitical issues. Dua appears to be similar in that regard - she's smart and outspoken. But her music severely lags in depth behind her personality. The question is, will she attempt to make a meaningful transition with this or next record or will she simply continue exploring surface level subjects in her music?
