    'Big Foot' PANNED by Clash

Well, that was a weekend. Megan Thee Stallion’s recent single ‘Hiss’ seemed to ruffle the feathers of long-time bete noire Nicki Minaj, the simmering tension between the two icons suddenly reaching boiling point. Nicki Minaj seemed glued to social media all weekend, lambasting her critics and re-asserting her worth. A new song was incoming, she told followers, following her recent album ‘Pink Friday 2’; teasing the contents, she shot down those who felt it would be a Megan diss track. In the end… it’s a Megan diss track. And that’s not the only thing predictable about ‘Big Foot’ – a series of double entendres so thinly veiled they may as well be nude, the plastic-y beat is colourful yet felt oddly dated. Indeed, there’s no real focus to ‘Big Foot’ other than a series of vile lyrics sent in Megan’s direction. “Your flow is such a bore,” is a tepid opening lyric, but lines like “How you **** your mother man when she die?” are just awful. “**** you get shot with no scar?” she asks, referencing Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting – something a court of law found Tory Lanez guilty of. Perhaps the lowest element of the entire song is the couplet: “Is it my fault I got good vagin-er? Why the **** is you humping on a minor?” Leaving aside the truly jaw-shuddering, skin-crawling rhyme structure, Nicki’s own husband Kenneth Petty is a registered sex offender due to an offence from 1994. Nicki herself earned internet ire by seemingly twerking on a 13-year-old fan at a concert. The list goes on. Removing the context and the intense social media focus on the row between these two artists, ‘Big Foot’ feels like a miss. It revels in the obvious, doesn’t reveal anything new, and rejoices in cheap shots. https://www.clashmusic.com/reviews/review-nicki-minaj-big-foot-void-of-context-its-a-bore/
  4. I mean it's a cute idea but it didn't make this masterpiece justice. What do we think?
  5. Megan dropped Hiss, got Nicki pissed, and re-heated her hype in a way we've probably not seen since Savage. She's basically winning. She's an impeccable lyricist, but calling a spade a spade, her label drama has made catching a wave in a "proper" way hard. Her albums (especially Traumazine) felt more like "lemme get outta this contract" releases than anything definitive. Then there's the Tory drama. With all of that in rearview, she's on fire atm. Cobra was a great statement record, Hiss is too and on top of that is shaping up to be an actual hit (despite not being structured like one in the slightest). All that said, what should happen next? IMO, she should: * Stay radio silent, as she has been. Don't say ish to Nicki. She dropped Hiss as a "one and done" and Nicki is spiraling. Big Foot is trash and doesn't give hope for any follow-ups. If Nicki keeps dropping disses to someone who is paying her dust and that person has "the" track the GP hails most, it just makes Nicki look even crazier. Meg won with bars, now it's time to embrace the mentality of a winner. * Do a big feature: I'm down with the statement tracks and the odd soundtrack song, but it's time for another commercial moment. Ideally with Meg being the lead act, but an appearance on a hit-hit would do. As far as upcoming releases go, Ariana would be perfect. "For the culture", a collab with Usher on his new album could be cute too. * Drop an album ASAP(ish): contrary to Nicki's nonsense, you can't buy this kind of hype. It's the best kind. Organic and somewhat lightening in a bottle. Meg's clearly got a project coming, as there's a clear throughline between Cobra and Hiss. Sonically and visually. So, the next single either ought to come with an album announcement/pre-order or with the album itself. GP support (for most acts) is fickle af. So, she may as well snatch sales from those rooting for her in the here and now.
  6. Here's another throwback Hot 100 poll to throw up back an era (or 10). These were all the singles that topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States back in 1970. The Jackson 5, with little Michael, burst onto the music scene while other groups like the Carpenters, Three Dog Night, and The Patridge Family climbed to the top of the pop charts. The Beatles scored their final 2 number one hits before calling it quits and George Harrison and Diana Ross ascended to the top with their first #1 singles as solo artists after leaving their 60's mega groups. 54 years later, which of these singles holds up the most. 1. Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head - BJ Thomas 2. I Want You Back - The Jackson 5 3. Venus - Shocking Blue 4. Thank You (Faletinme Be Mice Elf Agin) - Sly & the Family Stone 5. Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel 6. Let It Be - The Beatles 7. ABC - The Jackson 5 8. American Woman - The Guess Who 9. Everything is Beautiful - Ray Stevens 10. The Long and Winding Road - The Beatles 11. The Love You Save - The Jackson 5 12. Mama Told Me (Not To Come) - Three Dog Night 13. (They Long To Be) Close to You - The Carpenters 14. Make It with You - Bread 15. War - Edwin Starr 16. Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Diana Ross 17. Cracklin' Rose - Neil Diamond 18. I'll Be There - Jackson 5 19. I Think I Love You - The Patridge Family 20. The Tears of a Clown - Smokey Robinson & the Miracles 21. My Sweet Lord - George Harrison Here's a video refresher:
  7. Aren't these two her "brothers for life" who always helped her? We get that Nicki is currently surrounded by yes man, but what about Drake and Wayne? Why are they not reaching her and telling her to stop? Why no one even told her to at least not release BIGFOOT? Discuss.
  8. Did it win in the end as a 3 year old non single not a part of a album or EP? @Kiss It Better
  9. Big Bad Wolf

    Is Nicki Minaj officially OVER?

    - Referenced Megan's deceased mother, making a 5+ minute video shaking and screaming "lied on yo dead momma" - Made fun of her being a victim of gun violence - Compared her to an ape More over.... - Is married to a man who was convicted of rape - Is married to a man who was convicted of manslaughter - Is married to a man who is a career criminal (20+ arrests) - Brags about being with said man for protection in songs, referencing him as a shooter and threatening to commit homicide - Has made attempts to harass her husband's rape victim - Her home is listed on the sex offender registry d/t her husband's probation agreements - Her brother was convicted of molestation The streets are calling her 'Pedonika'....I don't know how one can recover. I've went ahead and deleted her music from my library and unfollowed her on all socials. Is Nicki Minaj officially OVER for you? Will you be boycotting?
  10. All things considered, how would you rank these eras based on how huge they were/are?
  11. You know the guy I'm talking about....gym rat, thick thighs, big arms, gym tank, snapback, maybe some tattoos, pure top, Masc4Masc, not "into that gay ****" like Drag Race, but...............he is a Barb. WHY? And don't say I'm the only one who's encountered this! I've seen it enough to want to create this thread and ask why so many gay men who seemingly want to live and portray masculine stan one of the most feminine artists to ever exist in our lifetime? Discuss!
  12. Her voice is so beautiful in this song It's magical.
  13. Around 2 years ago Taylor Swift antis remained with nothing since everything they were spinning to undervalue her success has been proven wrong years by years. So the new obsession coming from nothing was "her songs have remixes", something every pop- rock single, especially the first single, from pop albums have since the end of the 70s and the age of disco music. These remixes are infact in the 90% of the cases disco-dance inspired remixes made to push the song in the clubs and to give something exclusive to people buying the single. These are all the single versions of Mariah Carey My All from 1998. So can we just move on?. The discussion about it is so pointless and boring
  14. The Saturdays managed to slowly reign the UK after Girls Aloud disbanded, described as "disjointed", "radio fodder" and "lifeless" during their peak, however, each mamber managed to find a place in the public's heart, with some of them venturing into radio, TV shows, and your typical GG singer turned influencer. their songs were incredibly overlooked and often awarded with #2 peaks, with the GP finally awarding them with their awited long-awaited UK #1 with the catchy "What About Us", a song led by Rochelle, Una and Vanessa. not long after dropping their Greatest Hits, the girls decided to go on an indefinite hiatus, as the GP seemed to immediately embrace their next favorite GG, Little Mix from the very beggining. do you think the girls could pull a reunion tour along with a few songs or a new EP? they had an amazing streak of songs. Up, Issues, Work, Ego, Forever is Over, Higher, Missing You, All Fired Up, Notorious, What About Us, My Heart Takes Over and even Not Giving Up.

  17. I always had this feeling but it's kind of coming true The movie ended by being about Ken then a Barbie? What do you think about this? Is this actually a reflection of society we live in that even Barbie couldn't escape?
