  2. She described Witness and Chained as purposeful Pop but it was only covered in the lead single and some songs on the album, barely scratching the surface as to what she wanted to showcase as purposeful Pop. In a way, American Poe by Madonna is what Katy should have done for her lead Chained to the Rhythm, in that it was still able to capture the state of America and the cultural zeitgeist, but still be palatable to the American GeePee. American Pie ticks all the boxes of what Katy wanted to achieve with Chained to the Rhythm. It had political undertones that were subtle yet to the point. It had visuals that was not too on the nose and has diverse imagery without being overstuffed. It was dignified and classy and showed America for what it was in a pre-9/11 climate. The only truly great moment in the Chained video was the ending shot of Katy looking into the camera, which was the only authentic moment of the music video and showed the purpose of her pop.
  3. The best song on Oops!… written by Mutt Lange and Shania Twain based off of a few random chords Keith Scott was working on and forgot about months prior. A few months later, Mutt would call Keith to let him know he’d be receiving a writing credit on a Britney Spears song. Britney recorded part of the song with Mutt in his recording studio above horse stables at his house in Switzerland around the time Jive decided to push the album version of Born to Make You Happy as the fourth single from …Baby One More Time. Britney and Mutt would later complete the song in New York. Shania wasn’t present when Britney and her A&R, Steve Luntz, visited Mutt in Switzerland to work on the song. “With the first album, I didn’t get to show my voice off. The songs were great, but they weren’t very challenging. This song is incredible. It’s going to surprise people in the best way.” – Britney on Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know Via Billboard (1999) Have you streamed Britney’s most recent studio album to cross a billion streams on Spotify yet today?

    Kelly Clarkson Vegas Vocal Range

Queen really just keeps getting better and better!!!! Those F#5s and G5s were INSANE That G5 at 15:02 might be one of the sickest G5s she's ever hit

    Your Glory ranking?

Since we can't do anniversary threads unless they're in increments of 5...I thought it would be cute to revisit and see what everyone's Glory ranking is after having lived with this album for 7 years (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISS GLORENE!) My ranking: I still believe DYWCO? should've been pushed as an official single
  7. Lover era: ME! (#2) You Need to Calm Down (#2) Lover (#10) Cruel Summer (#3) Meanwhile, 4 albums since including Red (Taylor's Version), evermore, folklore and Midnights all snatched #1s with All Too Well, willow, cardigan and Anti-Hero. Cruel Summer looked like it was going to break the "Lover" curse and become a #1 once they released it as a Summer single. But Summer is almost over and it is peaking in points. Is the universe still making Taylor pay for her sins of releasing ME! as lead single of the Lover era?
  8. Hey, now that summer is about to be over, which bops by the queen would you say were your favorite to listen to?
  9. This comeback global smash by Bebe that went #1 in 25+ countries It peaked at #4 in the USA, outpeakong the original "Blue" by Eiffel 65 It is still charting to this day in 30+ countries and has over a billion streams on Spotify - a SMASH hit
  10. 20 fun facts : - Originally, Telephone by Lady Gaga was going to be called “Underground.” - Dua Lipa worked as a door supervisor at a club in Mayfair (“It was awful,” she says of the experience.) - The "Baby One More Time" video almost had a "Power Rangers" theme. ("They had this really bizarre video idea, this animated Power Ranger-y thing. I said, 'This is not right. If you want me to reach 4-year-olds, then OK, but if you want me to reach my age group …'") - Dua Lipa went to the same school Amy Winehouse attended - Doja Cat’s first job was at Starbucks - Beyoncé is allergic to Perfume - Gaga's fifth album "Joanne" was originally going to be a very different album with a very different concept, but Gaga deleted it - Katy Is the First Female to Have 5 Number 1 Hits From a Single Album - Rihanna Wasn’t the First Choice for “Umbrella” (Initially, the songwriters wanted Britney Spears to sing it, and their second choice was Mary J. Blige.) - Google Images Exists Because of Jennifer Lopez - “Torn” Isn’t Natalie Imbruglia’s Song - In 2014, Taylor Swift accidentally released 8 seconds of white noise onto iTunes and it almost immediately went to No. 1 on Canadian iTunes. - Jennifer Lopez was the first choice to perform alongside Britney Spears and Madonna in the famous 2003 MTV VMAs opening performance. - According to Gaga, her dad pioneered installing Wi-Fi in hotel rooms in 2002. - As of 2007, Rihanna's legs were insured for $1 million. - Nicki Minaj worked at multiple Red Lobster restaurants, and during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she revealed that she got fired from all of them. - Dua Lipa's first name means "love" in Albanian, and it was suggested by her grandmother. - Born This Way by Lady Gaga debuted atop in various major music chart worldwide, including the US Billboard 200, where the record sold 1.108 million copies in its first week - Ariana Grande's favorite movie is "Bruce Almighty" - Lady Gaga costumes she wore during her Monster’s Ball tour left her $3 million in debt.
  11. Years ago, it's a common knowledge that the aspect Katy excelled compared to Taylor is the singles Katy had 4 solid monumental singles, Dark Horse, Roar, Firework, and California Gurls, and some big singles like E.T., Teenage Dream, and Hot n Cold meanwhile Taylor got only Love Story and Shake It Off However, Taylor got entire catalogue boost with The Eras Tour for instance, Blank Space, meanwhile got 3B+ in Youtube, 5million digital copies in iTunes, it has surpassed 1B streams on Spotify too Also many of her singles got 1mil+ daily update on Spotify, like Style and Wildest Dreams, which despite not hitting #1, they feel as big as Katy's #1 hits like Teenage Dream and Last Friday Night also she managed to get more hits in streaming eras, like Cruel Summer, Lover, cardigan and Anti Hero Do you think Taylor's hit singles are in pace on surpassing Katy's too or Katy will remain the bigger single artists?
  12. I found it very interesting when Kylie Minogue said during her recent Zach Sang interview that listening to Tension on shuffle or in order works either way. It reminded me of when Adele was telling people before the release of 30 to listen to the album in order (and got Spotify to change up their UI), because that's the way it was intended to be listened to. It got me thinking about the different ways people consume albums. I know some people that only listen to albums in order, and I know some who think that's weird and only listen on shuffle. I personally listen to albums in order most of the time, but when it's a more upbeat album that I'm already pretty familiar with I might listen on shuffle every now and then. So, do you listen to albums on shuffle? If you do, is it only for specific types of albums? Do you only listen to albums in order? Do you think listening to albums out of order is sacrilegious? Are people really taking in an album when it's not listened to in the intended order? Let me know!
  13. Both debuted in the 90s. 4 Decades of Domination. Both are facing significant competition, including Doja Cat, SZA, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Ice Spice, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Karol G, Rosalía, and Becky G, among others. However, they manage still to capture the attention of Gen Z, Millennials, Older Generations and even some from Gen Alpha. Larger than life Performing Skills. Both with roots from AFRICA AND MIDDLE EAST. Where human civilization was born and everything started Theyre the best representation for Black and Middle Eastern people today They come from the Black and Latino communities and have been slaying the music scene for decades in countries that are predominantly White. For proof, you can check the official charts of those countries. Shaki and Bey stats Things didn't look great for Beyoncé with 'The Gift' and 'Everything is Love,' but she found a way to make a comeback and achieved success with her singles and albums again. Similarly, things appeared challenging for Shakira with her flop tiktok song 'Don't Wait Up,' but she rose above it all. Nothing is over till its over....Never really over. Beyoncé's albums and singles were both commercially successful and critically acclaimed. Nr1 in the Hot 100 again. The perfect comeback. Sadly she didnt release her visuals. Drowning the potential of the album. Her tour became the largest ever for a Black entertainer. Shakira also scored two top 10 hits on the Hot 100 with spanish songs. Some of her English singles gained significant views on Youtube too and achieved great chart positions in Europe, such as 'Girl like me' and 'Don't You Worry.'" and her tour will be a big success probably So many of their peers from the 90s-2000s-2010s faded but Shakira and Bey are still around Are u impressed by them? how these ladies managed that? Ask me what I learned from all those years Ask me what I earned from all those tears Ask me why so many fade, but I'm still here
  14. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, breaking the record for 1st week sales by a female artist at the time selling 442k it is one of the most acclaimed eras of all time, being nominated for 10 Grammy Awards and winning 5. It is the best selling female rap album of all time and is the only female rap album to go Diamond in the USA
  15. ChartMasters: 'SOS' - 7,063,000 (+20,520) *This figure does not include the vinyl sales. is she simply thee moment?
  16. The album is so rich lyrically, melodically and in terms of compositions. The instruments and the vocals are super crisp. Like wow. I can see the Grammy committee eating this up easily.
