Everyone talking about the numbers, irdgaf, let's take a moment and talk about the MUSIC Can we take a moment and APPRECIATE the artistic growth she's made when it comes to choosing album closers? This is MILES AHEAD of Boys Will Be Boys and Homesick. This is a BEAUTIFUL moment, the reference to Anwar

Two timeless tracks, Spice Girls' "Goodbye" and Avril Lavigne's "When You're Gone," stand out as dignified pop ballads, frequently chosen to accompany final goodbyes. "Goodbye," penned as a tribute to their departed bandmate Geri Halliwell, carries a tender resonance, its lyrics a bittersweet ode to loss and gratitude. Conversely, "When You're Gone" marked a pivotal shift for Lavigne, unveiling a more vulnerable and mature facet of her artistry during the Girlfriend era. Both songs, despite their differing origins and contexts, share a common thread of emotional depth and sincerity. As mourners seek solace in music's embrace, the choice between these two masterful compositions poses a poignant question: which resonates more profoundly as the ultimate funeral pop ballad?

I'm not even trying to be shady How the f*ck she debuts with 15.8M streams? How the f*ck RO does half of what FN did, despite she being more popular now and having a bigger following? What exactly did Dua and her team do wrong? How did they destroy all the hype?

My prediction 60k-70k full week . She needs a deluxe version

Would you say your favorite girlie has a wide range of topics represented in their discogaphies? Or do they have their niche and stick to it? Madonna, for example, has songs that cover: Domestic violence (Til Death Do Us Part) Loss/death (Mer Girl, Mother and Father, Promise to Try) AIDS (In This Life) Neglect/trauma (Oh Father, Live to Tell) Ballroom culture (Vogue) Motherhood (Little Star) Fame (Hollywood, Drowned World) Teenage pregnancy/abortion/adoption (Papa Don't Preach) Materialism (Material Girl, American Life) Divorce (Love Spent, Best Friend, Miles Away) Aging (Falling Free, This Used to Be My Playground) Self-reflection (X-Static Process) Coming out (Deeper and Deeper) Love (Love Profusion, True Blue, Angel, Beautiful Stranger, etc.) Sex (Where Life Begins, Best Night, Erotica, Justify My Love, etc.) Family (Keep It Together) Homophobia/racism (Why's It So Hard?) Janet Jackson: Infidelity (Son of a Gun, You Ain't Right, This Time) Domestic violence/abuse (What About, Lessons Learned) Racism/homophobia (Rhythm Nation, New Agenda, Free Xone) Bisexuality (Tonight's the Night) Depression (You, Empty, Better Days) Loss/death (Together Again, Broken Hearts Heal) Love (Miss You Much, Love Will Never Do, Because of Love, etc.) Sex (Moist, Warmth, That's the Way Love Goes, Throb, etc.) Masturbation (If) Empowerment (Control, Can't Be Stopped) Drug abuse (Black Cat) Social injustice (State of the World, Black Eagle, Livin' in a World They Didn't Make, Shoulda Known Better)

DL3 is over, done for and making zero noise, are you ready for the "real comeback" with DL4? And what do you want/expect from Dua for DL4?

Imagine an album full of this type of songs:

Two powerhouse vocal besties with a pen that cuts, who both saw the ghost of Rebekah Harkness. Which introspective and reflective album about the dark times we live in is better?

What is your fav line in the song? One of her best lyrics in my opinion I'M HAVING HIS BABYYYYYYYY at 5:20 The delivery of that line is just Miss Swift can EMOTE -
I'm not talking about the music but just about her image. I think the video of New Rules is the main reason that song (and her career) exploded. She was serving indie looking girl making commercial and generic big pop music. I think her appeal was that and what made her "different" as brand between the other big pop girls around. Then the girl give us nothing meme happened and she turned more and more in a sort of pop performer with visuals and staging very generic and already seen million times. Like the kinda of performance the 80% of every act on the Eurovision stage can make. She went from having that "different girl vibe" to be dragged on reviews for having no personality and being "just an instagram model". I think it was a bad idea going from generic music to being generic also in the way she presents herself and the music. She made the biggest mistake you can make: trying to be interesting for the GP (gay) men stucked in the 2001. So shoud Dua going back to her roots and old big eyebrows?

base talk Radical Optimism debuts with less than 16m streams. What's next?
Relampago. posted a topic in Base
Well it's official, Radical Optimism is a devastating bomb. After the hype of Future Nostalgia, it failed to crack more than 16m streams. How can Dua recover? What direction should she try for her next album? What can be done? -

base talk Selena's boyfriend constantly mocked in social media for being ugly. Thoughts?
Space Cowboy posted a topic in Base
Some examples I stumbled upon JUST TODAY without even looking for it: Like… I don't even care about Selena or his bf, but why are aso many people collectively ugly-shaming and bullying this guy?? Am i missing something? Is he problematic? Or all the hate is only due to her fans not finding him "attractive enough" for her? -

It appears Dua's new album is getting a mixed reception by tasteless listeners. Many (due to long-term Covid) have complained about Kevin's "rawer" production in particular. Should Dua pull a Mariah and remix the tracks for a club setting, with re-recorded vocals and maybe even some added lyrics? She could even delve further into the UK dance sound she talked about in interviews, taking inspiration from genres like dubstep, garage, funky and DnB: Are you here for Dua's club era?

base talk How do you think people will remember Taylor Swift in 50 years?
Strawberry Bubble posted a topic in Base
We are in the year 2074, how do you think people will remember Taylor Swift? Is she going to pass the test of time?. Do you have any artist from the past who had a similar career trajectory than her? Will she be a legend? Or just another pop girl with amazing numbers? -
And when i say solid i mean it, like going all in, without caring about charts or sales and just give us those dark, sophisticated, cult spooky, campy bops The current queen of Halloween is Kim Petras, Gaga should make a Turn Off The Light ON STEROIDS It might not chart on the H100 but if quality is delivered people will stream it for decades to come during Halloween Imagine this with Gaga's vocals from Scheiße:
