In the last 10 years, Shakira has focused on Spanish-language music. This has brought her huge success and has allowed her to remain relevant even with new competition like Karol G, Rosalía, and Becky G, but I feel like it has turned her into another local america's star when she's more than that Releasing collaborations with the trendy reggaeton artists and predictable music to make hits. Also, Shakira has lost a lot of power in Europe and other parts of the World because Spanish-language music is only successful in the majority of the Americas-The States. Is harder for Spanish songs to get top chart positions in Europe-Asia-Africa-Oceania If y'll check karol g is massive but her songs rarely chart big in Europe Non-english music also get less hype from the American Media-Stan Community Honestly, I miss Shakira's English music a lot. I had burnout from Dua Lipa with Future Nostalgia reissue, but with the current rollout performance of the three singles and the streams(plus i actually love the album moreso than FN since im more into chill vibey music and These Walls >>>>), it feels like she's my best kept secret sauce artist and I'm so happy because it's not like a Taylor post-folklore-to-TTPD situation where she's too big where it's annoying

I've been thinking a lot about this in relation to Dua's Radical Optimist era. She followed the traditional album rollout like a rulebook: it was a six month long promo campaign with 3 singles, remixes, live versions, playlisting. She performed in every award show, went to every TV show, internet show, podcast, Tiktok, several magazine covers, red carpets, new boyfriend. She played every move there is to play. And yet... nothing. Of course, there is something to be said about the music itself which is lackluster and did connect with audiences. But I feel like back in the day, the promo and strong rollout could at least get you a decent first week and a top 10 hit. When we look at the recent most successful eras from mainstream stars, most of them had very little promo. Can we say that the traditional album rollout system as we know it is obsolete? Does it have more to do with the specific artist and the music? What is the best way to go nowadays?

I'm not talking about the music but just about her image. I think the video of New Rules is the main reason that song (and her career) exploded. She was serving indie looking girl making commercial and generic big pop music. I think her appeal was that and what made her "different" as brand between the other big pop girls around. Then the girl give us nothing meme happened and she turned more and more in a sort of pop performer with visuals and staging very generic and already seen million times. Like the kinda of performance the 80% of every act on the Eurovision stage can make. She went from having that "different girl vibe" to be dragged on reviews for having no personality and being "just an instagram model". I think it was a bad idea going from generic music to being generic also in the way she presents herself and the music. She made the biggest mistake you can make: trying to be interesting for the GP (gay) men stucked in the 2001. So shoud Dua going back to her roots and old big eyebrows?
