Taylor's highly anticipated 11th album is upon us and it'll come out on April 19th. After achieving some of the biggest debuts in history, what numbers do you think The Tortured Poets Department is going to pull? -
Let me preface by saying I like a lot of the album. However, it's not fully clicking w me and I couldn't figure out why. Then I realized this was literally the album I was asking for after Folklore + Evermore, and I was so disappointed that Midnights was a return to the pop sound when it first came out (although now I'm liking it better than TTPD bc I'm used to it. When Midnights first released, I even swapped in the orchestral and acoustic versions of songs, to make it more stripped down and Folklorevermore sounding). If TTPD had come out right after Folklorevermore (and then we had gotten SNTV, 1989TV, and Midnights now) would this album be more palatable?

poll Did Eternal Sunshine redeem Ariana to the GP after Spongegate or did they never care?
sunbathinganimal posted a topic in Base
In the months leading up to the release of Ariana Grande's seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, she was plagued by controversy surrounding her relationship with Ethan Slater (SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical). However, the album was very well-received and is continuing to perform well commercially a month on. It also feels like much of the online vitriol towards her has faded away since its release. So, did Eternal Sunshine redeem Ariana Grande in the eyes of the GP after Spongegate, or was the scandal never as big a deal as ATRL made it seem? Discuss. -
Shady post with 1.6M views aside, do you expect better production values and live vocals from a Mariah Carey Vegas residency where tickets cost upwards of $1,400?

So, I've just finished listening to Taylor's Anthology and I can't help but feel like I didn't experience anything new here. There was a lot of hype about this being a breakup album and her serving us up some classics; however it seemed like the same sounds packaged with her typical relationship tropes about how bad/disappointing the man is and how silly she is for believing in him and that it could work. I'm not entirely sure what I expected but I found it quite a bizarre experiece to be excited to listen to an hour(s) long album and then leave it feeling like nothing particularly new had been offered to me. Did anyone else feel the same way? Does it change with more listening?

now that you've listened to ttpd (legally), did miss 5th aoty make the right lead single choice??? personally I love fortnight, but is it lead single material?

I kinda feel bad for Joe It seem like he got an album dragging him and he just left because he didn't feel loved anymore. I get the feeling Taylor was too busy with her career and he just didn't get the same ammount of attention amymore. It's also clear that they really loved each other so it's just sad.

Jesy Nelson and JoJo Siwa have both been mocked and ridiculed online during a stark image rebrand and the launch of their music careers, but which was worse? Jesy collaborated with Nicki Minaj on a P Diddy sample, and came under fire for blackfishing and cultural appropriation. She also went on instagram live while Nicki took aim at her former band mates. Of course we can't forget her much maligned and meme'd Capital Jingle Bell Ball performance of her new song. Jojo had an extensive marketing campaign leading up to the release of her single, only to release a Disney channel/kids bop song. She's since gone on to say she's pioneering "gay pop" and has had various other interview clips go viral. Lastly, the song she released was a demo from years ago and the original singer's version has since gone viral. So, in your opinion, who fumbled the bag harder? To be clear, I'm not asking your opinion on the music, but the launch of their career as a whole and the subsequent backlash.
