Welcome to the 2nd thread of the 3-part series 'Radical Optimism: The Tankage', where we shall be covering the promotion rollouts of each single of the era as they evaporate, vaporize and TBA off the Spotify charts one by one! The final thread of the series should be coming any day now, with Training Season being the only remaining song on the chart, at #187(-37) as of today. Check out the former thread in the series, 'Illusion' evaporates ! Let's get right into it! Dua Lipa began teasing 'Houdini's release by doing what she does best: serving a beauty shot on Instagram. The post seemingly gained a lot of attention for her standards, as the likes count (2.6M) is about 4 times the amount of likes of her posts nowadays (700-800K) The singer, known for her Spotify shenanigans, started practicing her antics rather earlier than usual, changing the Spotify covers of her entire discography a month before the release. This way, innocent people looking for songs such as One Kiss (feat. Dua Lipa) by Calvin Harris or Prisoner (feat. Dua Lipa) by Miley Cyrus would stumble upon these new cover arts and be alert of her upcoming release. The song then came out in November to what has become synonymous with a Dua Lipa release: an immediate #1 placement on Spotify's biggest playlist, TTH, with the cover. The track was also sent to radio on release day with a radio deal The song showed signs of underperformance right on: it failed to outstream then two months old Greedy on release day, flopped out of the Spotify Global top 10 in a week, failed to go #1 at her very own home market the UK, failed to go top 10 in the US and spent only 1 (one) (UNO) week in the top 20. But under Warner's very generous funding, Dua Lipa continued following the footsteps of 2019's Don't Start Now and promoted the track well into 2024, spamming various new versions to streaming platforms weekly while continuing the reign at the top of TTH. And then And THEN... ... Including a brand new visual for it And THEN......... Dua Lipa had also performed the track numerous times during the period, most notoriously to millions of people watching the Grammys. Warner finally dropped the track from TTH after over 5 months, on April 12 (only to make space for 'Illusion' topping the playlist starting that day). The song is still enjoying a playlist reach of mostly over 100M since then, currently sitting at a whopping 92,276,575 while still missing the top 200 of the Spotify chart. In comparison with the playlist reach of some singles by her peers from last year, that are actually charting right now: #62 SZA - Snooze (81M reach) #78 Sabrina Carpenter - Feather (111M reach) #88 Billie Eilish - What Was I Made For (89M reach) #122 Sabrina Carpenter - Nonsense (57M reach) #137 Doja Cat - Paint The Town Red (116M reach) #139 The Weeknd - Popular (47M reach) #153 Olivia Rodrigo - Vamprie (66M reach) Houdini is more recent than all of these songs, yet fails to make the chart with a similar playlist reach or more. It is also noteworthy that Houdini's parent album was released only 3 weeks ago, and that the song sits at the front of the tracklist as track #2. So, ATRL, why?

Let’s keep the narrative clear. Israel wants to continue the war. Biden thinks Hamas is bad but we can’t kill people of Palestine because of Hamas. He believes they have a complete right to attack Hamas. The support is contingent on limiting the harm to the innocent. Trump thinks Hamas is bad. He thinks everyone in Palestine is Hamas and that we should level Palestine. Nuclear options are possible. He loves selling weapons to foreigners from Saudi to Israel it’s one of his favorite things. One has limits on what they want to support and the other wants him to destroy it.

I wish people understood that those trying to leverage their vote against Biden to get him to stop enabling genocide do not need convincing that Trump is a monster. These people are already why Biden won in 2020 and whom would never consider voting for Republicans to begin with. Just watched the HBO special and wow what an incredible show. I'm obsessed with the songs with live instruments. Just Dance with violins had me shook. So good to see her having fun and delivering such a high quality spectacle. When she was performing Babylon dressed in gold with that backdrop and lighting I lowkey forgot I was watching a concert and it felt like I was watching a movie, it completely changed the stage with such simple decisions. She's come a long way since the The Monster Ball HBO Special, which was very good at the time, but here she took to another level. Everything was on point. What an iconic week

Okay, review time! Where to start? I know I've been very... critical () of Ms. Swift in the last few weeks, but I actually do like her and I can say this show was something I'll NEVER forget. The production. The hits. Her. That first hour and a half of relentless singalongs and SMASH after SMASH. She's really improved her performing since 1989, tho I'll admit her with a guitar or a piano is still the style that most suits her. LOVED getting YOYOK and Long Live as surprise songs. The former is one of my fav Taylor songs and one I've always felt a special connection, so imagine how much I freaked out when those first notes started playing. The Rep section... the girls DEMAND another album of stadium bangers like DBM and RFI. Even Look, which I never liked, went OFF on those stadium speakers. If you saw me bopping to YNTCD, no you didn't! Also, the audience was on fire the entire night. We even gave her a 3-minute standing ovation after Champagne Problems. Chills. The TTPD songs were never a fav of mine, but I gotta say they sounded a LOT better with boosted production and on stadium speakers. TTPD (Live on the Eras Tour), when? There's so much more I could say, but I can't fit it all in one post. I just also wanna point out how much I respect her work ethic. 3 hours of performing + recording two albums + re-recordings + a directorial debut + God knows what else... y'all know I like to troll the Swifties sometimes, but she really is an inspiration. The only other pop girl concert I've gone to was Dua's FN tour + Ethel and Florence at a festival last year and while I loved them, I feel like as an EXPERIENCE, yesterday won't be topped for a very long time.
