Talent won. Tell Me You Love Me is more experimental than The National's discography. Also that belting in last chorus, Matt ain't doing it. Not even Raingurl? Everyone loves that song. I think she still has a lot of her potential and her debut will stomp over her EPs I'm sure. 1 hour ago, madonnas said: Your Bad Liar description People who prefer Drink I'm Sippin On is better than Raingurl are dumb. Some people prefer Drink I'm Sippin On?? Even I'm not that edgy. 1 hour ago, Unoriginal said: Hmmm the Susanne shade Jk she's a cute girl. Great gowns, beautiful gowns

Where could she possibly go next? No one could have predicted this. Sampling a beloved Talkng Heads track was a bold and risky move that only artists with a vision as clear as Selena’s could convincingly pull off. But sample or not, it is Gomez who undeniably ties this song together: when she sings lyrics like “If you're the art, I'll be the brush” her inimitable tone and cadence, along with the multifaceted and oblique style of lyrics reminds us that we can never truly understand an artist so chameleonic and envelope-pushing: is the art / brush metaphor a playful come on to a potential lover, or is it a more loaded critique about how women of colour are often reduced to mere vehicles for the artistic whims of powerful white men? We cannot possibly know. the can we focus on the love bit stressing the need for discourse but using a tape recorder effect to mask it in an aura of doubt, as if it's a relic or distant memory.
Vxspertine Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Born To Beg One of the best tracks on the album for sure Cool Your Heart Raingurl

Eeveelution Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) 40. Arcade Fire - "We Don't Deserve Love" From: Everything Now Where do I begin? Arcade Fire are / were one of my favourite bands, like, ever. So I feel like this era should have disappointed me more, but I kinda don’t care? At least it was an entertaining trainwreck. I do feel like some were a little too eager to drag them though, like they had been patiently waiting for them to **** up for some time, but at the same time they kind of deserved it so. Anyway, regardless of how the era was executed, and the creative choices made, underneath it all Win and co still know how to craft a darnn good song. We Don’t Deserve Love has everything I like in an Arcade Fire song: evocative and well-written lyrics, great vocal dynamics between Win and Régine and a well-earned, highly-rewarding build up. More of this and less “infinite content… we’re infinitely content! ;)”, please. See also: "Electric Blue" 39. Jessie Ware - "Your Domino" From: Glasshouse Call me pretentious, but Jessie Ware was so much more interesting when she was a mysterious pitchfork darling. With every album she slips further into radio 2, Emile Sande’d balladry and I lose more and more interest. I do still have a soft spot for Jessie’s MOR mumpop, however, and Your Domino is a highlight. The song so effortlessly flits from verse to chorus to verse again and the effervescent synthpop production compliments her voice far better than Ed Sheeran’s guitar work ever could. See also: "Love to Love"; "Thinkin About You" 38. Kali Uchis - "Tyrant" (feat. Jorja Smith) From: TBA I hate youtube autoplay, if I wanna listen to a song I’ll chose it myself, dammit! But I keep it on still, cause every so often it helps me stumble upon songs I wouldn’t have listened to otherwise. Tyrant is one of those songs, a breezy cocktail of weightless R&B and Kali Uchis’ soft tones: the perfect soundtrack to a summer where I did, well, nothing interesting.. Also Miss jorja her best feature of the year (soz Drake). See also: Jorja Smith x Preditah - "On My Mind" 37. Vince Staples - "Yeah Right" From: Big Fish Theory One oft-quoted thing Vince said about Big Fish Theory is that it should be submitted into the Electronic category at the Grammys as opposed to Hip-Hop, and it’s hard to argue with him. The production on Yeah Right is immaculate. Never satisfied with staying in the same place, zone out for a few seconds and it may as well be a different song. Kendick and New-Zealend singer Kucka do their thing here, but their presence can’t overshadow Vince, who delivers some of his most effective and memorable bars on this track. Regardless of the category, give him a Grammy already! See also: "SAMO"; "Love Can Be..." 36. Haim - "Walking Away" From: Something to Tell You Repetition has always been one of the most easy, surefire ways to build an effective hook, and no one believes in this method more than Esta, Alana and Danielle Haim. While it often comes across as lazy songwriting on other Something to Tell You songs, Walking away feels masterfully and painstakingly constructed: Ghostly distorted vocals fade into the mix, layered harmonies rise and fall, while a subtle beat shift during the second chorus is one of the most satisfying musical moments of 2017. Something to Tell You is unlikely to be remembered as Haim’s best album, but this makes a strong case in being their best song.
