I will fight you on a few of these but more importantly, Breeda Wool is on another series?! I thought she just did UnREAL lol

Yeah the show's almost worth watching just for her performance! She also had a cameo on Vice Principals S2.

Liar sounds like a complete mess too :doc:

It has that thriller-y vibe, but even then it's a tough watch

I love South Park, Broad City, Veep, Kimmy and AHS but I agree this year was not great for any of those.

Does Chewing Gum have a second season? Like it's a COMPLETE mess but it gave me some kiis.

omg how did you hate UKS. Titus Lemonading had me weak.

I'm so behind on Power. I'm not sure if I should bother to catch up. I always get mixed reviews

Yes it has a second season! it's kinda the same as the first one.

He's never beating Pinot Noir imo, and i'm not sure if any of the characters are worth following for this long...

Power is fine if you could tolerate Tariq and Kanan.

Okay let's do this!

Drama #15-13

#15. Manhunt: Unabomber - Discovery Channel

manhunt-unabomber1.jpg?w=700&h=393&crop=1

The miniseries is a retelling of the true story of the FBI's hunt for the terrorist known as the Unabomber. Overall it's consistent, intriguing, has all the expected elements (FBI agent leaves his wife and kids for an important case, finds some hardships, overcomes those hardships, fails to get the terrorist the first time, succeeds eventually etc...) The acting was fine (s/o to Paul Bettany who overshadowed the rest of the cast) Easily one of the revelations of this summer, and that's something!

#14. The Bold Type - Freeform:

bold_type_gal_pals.jpg

If you go to the TV Fanatics thread, you’ll see how much i trashed this show (it’s A LOT). And what a mistake has that been.

At first, I didn’t get the hype, TV twitter was all over it during the summer so I decided to try the first two episodes, and i didn’t like them. It felt like Freeform’s mix of Gossip Girl and Devil Wears Prada full of irritating characters, cringe social media references and soapy storylines. I didn’t notice the dynamic between the girls, I didn’t get how any of them would be friends with each other + I wasn’t on board with Melora Hardin’s mentory approach, felt like she was too easy on the girls. Seriously, they could make the biggest **** ups yet they’d still get away with it because…

So as I was deciding to drop the show, I realized I already have the second half available and I had nothing to do, so i watched the rest and I loved it! I don’t think the writers aspire to portray a grim representation of the working environment of a magazine, nor are they interested into unleashing conflict between its characters. There are ton of shows who do just that. Instead you can feel the positivity throughout each episode which I used to find absurd, it’s uplifting, empowering and very enjoyable. The second half worked really well into strengthening the relationship between the three girls, you can see each of them aiming to reach their goals despite facing some challenges (which wasn’t apparent during the first half) And yeah this show wouldn’t be complete without some romantic drama, a heavy top 40 soundtrack, and the tumblr-y feel, but you can get past that stuff

Also kudos to the writers for not making Jacqueline a Miranda Priestly 2.0! Choosing to make her character sympathetic instead of cunning or manipulative is a brilliant move which i also didn't get at the begining until the finale where she encouraged Jane to thoroughly report on her last article abt sexual assault because she was a survivor herself. The entire converstion between the two ladies is so emotional, Melora Hardin did THAT during that scene she almost put Meryl Streep to shame. Anyway it's worth the watch!

#13. Sneaky Pete - Amazon:

sneaky-pete-trailer1-700x300.jpg

The Amazon show was a surprise that stayed with me since it was released in january. It's about a scammer who takes the identity of his cell mate, infiltrates his family so as to avoid Bryan Cranston's gang, all while trying to save his brother. It's full of twists and secrets. Every episode is a delight, also the interaction between the family members was entertaining. It's really easy to binge.

Comedy: #15-13

#15. Brooklyn Nine Nine - FOX:

b99-501_sc6_jpf0061_f_hires2-e1506429012444.jpg?quality=65&strip=all&w=782

Very similar to Parks & Rec, the FOX comedy is full of heart; i never encountered anyone who hates it. Of course the humor is cheesy af, Andre Braugher is the one who usually carries the show, but this season had some great highlights, such as the Halloween special where we get to see Jake's romantic proposal or recently "Game Night" where Rosa comes out as bisexual. It's nice to get to meet these guys and watch their craziness once a week and i'd hate to see the show get cancelled given its bad ratings.

#14. Difficult People - Hulu:

difficult-people-season-3-trailer-and-po

Truly one of the gayest shows on TV :heart2: For someone who frequently browses atrl, i didn't get most of the pop culture references during this third season which offered so many one liners it's hard to count. It's really a joy following Billy and Julie trying to make it happen in New York whichever way possible, whether doing the right thing/"smiling"/lying etc... They are so unapologetically blunt it's entertaining to watch. The supporting cast is great as well, notably Julie's mother Marylin and her boyfriend Arthur, without forgetting John Cho and Lucy Liu's memorable cameos. Sad to see Hulu cancelling the show just when it had its best season yet.

#13. Playing House - USA:

Can they cancel Suits or The Sinner and give us this gem back? One of the most beautiful depictions of female friendship on TV concludes its third season with the girls going on a crazy adventure involving drag queens, Tina Turner and a Bosephus cameo. It also reimagined Jessica St. Clair's real life battle with breast cancer in such a lighthearted way. Each episode had its charm, both St. Clair and Parham are natural and genuine in their interactions together. Parham especially shines here, she can be funny and touching at the same time, i love her so much :smitten: Let's not forget about Zach Woods who's the real scene stealer. Anyway can't wait for their upcoming projects!

Sneaky Pete :clap3:I hope the next season doesn't flop.

You've definitely convinced me to give The Bold Type a go. Will catch up before the next season starts.

It helps that the writers avoided going for the predictable closure most similar shows would employ.

I'm a bit wary of season 2 since it has a new showrunner from Gossip Girl, i hope it won't affect its quality...

I really have failed to get into any show revolving around the type of stuff TBT is about that wasn't like... Ugly Betty. So... I downloaded the pilot.

I think it's enjoyable in a guilty pleasure/comfort TV type of watch. At the end you'll probably see yourself wanting more ngl :chick1:

Exactly! I like the girls but their shenanigans this year were truly uninteresting :katie: And yup, Abbi singing along with TEOG is one of the highlights of the show.
