OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Era Istrefi - No I Love Yous (feat. French Montana) I honestly can’t wait for her album so I can label it R9 in my iTunes library. I still can’t believe she had the audacity to snatch me a second time after my edges JUST started to grow back from Bon Bon. The real Albanian queen, Bebe, Rita, and Dua are shaking
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Kendrick Lamar - LOVE. (feat. Zacari) This was my instant fave when the album first dropped and it’s still just as good as the first time I heard it I’m not gonna lie though, this was a little bit lower on the list before the video dropped. Kendrick always serves the best visuals Edited December 29, 2017 by OnikaSlays
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Camila Cabello - Crying In The Club I think I’m in the small percentage of people who prefers this over Havana. Havana is still a bop (I cannot what for this girl’s album omg) but CITC is excellent. Sure it’s a SOY/Cheap Thrills rehash, but it still didn’t deserve to flop. Like the melody, the GIAB sample, the instrumental, how was this not a smash?
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Katy Perry - Chained to the Rhythm (feat. Skip Marley) I just thought about how this wasn’t a #1 for weeks and I’m pissed all over again. Y’all know this is her best lead single right? The Trump/conservative shade, the hidden meanings in video, everything went over the GP’s head and it’s so frustrating lol. Oh well. Edited December 29, 2017 by OnikaSlays
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 GoldLink, Brent Faiyaz, Shy Glizzy - Crew I really expected the Grammys to show their lack of taste and not nominate this, but they pulled through. This was literally my anthem for Summer 2K17
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Cardi B - Bodak Yellow I really did not expect this be a hit the first time I heard it. I was like “ok Cardi this is cute” and thought nothing more, but the good sis really let this blow up. I’m so proud of how far she’s come. The best glo-up of all time
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne - Changed It I don’t care, this is Nicki’s best verse of 2017. Motorsport, Plain Jane, and No Flags were great, but Nicki really snapped on this track. ”I’m in my mansion rocking pink drawers, I leveled up bitch I switch flows/floors *switches flows*” DONE
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Dua Lipa - New Rules The minute Dua’s friend wiped the heart she made off the mirror, I knew this was gonna be big. It’s crazy how everyone hated this song until the video came out though
SebaMonster Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 New Rules, Bodak Yellow, Changed It, Love.
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Calvin Harris - Slide (feat. Frank Ocean & Migos) Ok but why is Calvin’s production ever? How did this not go at least Top 10? Why is this so catchy? Why didn’t they give this a video? Why did y’all pay this dust? I have way too many questions Edited December 29, 2017 by OnikaSlays
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) DJ Khaled - Wild Thoughts (feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller) Rihanna’s first verse is so legendary the Maria Maria sample and Rihanna serving SEX. I can’t even say this song deserved better, because it was already huge, but this was really something special Edited December 29, 2017 by OnikaSlays
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Sigrid - Strangers If this song isn’t a hit in someone’s country next year, I’m going to go insane. This is pop perfection and Sigrid deserves nothing but the best.
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 SZA - Love Galore This is gonna be one of these songs that come on the radio 10-15 years from now and still goes OFF. Literally I can’t wait to ask my kids what they know about this but Solana and Travis DELIVERED. Whew!
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Lorde - Perfect Places This entire album had me in tears, but this song ****ed me up honestly. It’s so relatable and it’s such an anthem. She really deserves AOTY.
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 These songs also deserve recognition, but they weren’t quite top 50 or I forgot them while I was making the list
OnikaSlays Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Kelela - LMK THIS. SONG. DESERVED. TO. BE. BIG. I really thought y’all were gonna let Kelela have her Ctrl/ASATT moment this year, but I was so mistaken. Kelela should’ve never given us this glorious bop because y’all don’t know how to act and when to support good music
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 29, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 29, 2017 Wild Thoughts, Strangers, Paper Love, Groupie Love, Perfect Places, Love Galore and Bodak Yellow whew serving taste LMK is so ****ing good too a very worthy #1
grandewhispers Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 OMG SO MUCH TASTE SERVED HERE Crying in the Club being acclaimed whewwww I agree with everything! How did it not smash? It's excellent! Better than Havana! Slide, New Rules, Changed It, Love Galore and Perfect Places Wild Thoughts deserved to be lower btw
