Kimmy Schmidt :clap3:

I actually haven't watched any of those but I love comedy... if it's not like Modern Family and more like Ugly betty!

Veep will always be one of the best shows of all time but this season was a dud. i really liked a lot of the elements, even Selina being even more heartless than usual in the context of her mental health issues but they should've delved deeper into it and it was uneven, not as funny and quick as usual.

Loved the new Kimmy season, had some minor issues but very good and funny overall.

I only watched Trial & Error from these. I'm still on S5 of Veep, and I dropped Kimmy for good.

Trial & Error :dies: Nicholas D'Agosto works great as the straight man 'center' of the show to all the silly characters around him.

S5 is still the best!

Nicolas D'Agosto really does. He got a lot of laughs out of me.

And no, I haven't watched OJ's 30 for 30 yet. I hope to this upcoming winter break!

I need to get back into Veep, stopped watching it like last season for no reason.

I haven't heard of Trial & Error before but it seems good from the sound of it.

And it stars Nicholas D'Agosto :smitten:

I never got into Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt but I should probably give it another go.

I agree with what you said about the anti-PC stuff without even seeing it, Tina never gets stuff like that right.

I only knew Nicholas D'Agosto from his small role in the classic film 'Election' so he surprised me!

Yeah, it's not a problem for the most part but Tina can't seem to fully shake away them tendencies.

That's exactly how I feel! It made complete sense for her to become more heartless and bitter following the events of S5 and with the talks about her mental health issues, but I agree, it just didn't go anywhere deep enough to make it worthwhile. We just got an extra mean character that I found difficult to root for and laugh at. I don't expect the show to ever go there now but I believe next season can rectify the "uneven, not as funny and quick as usual" missteps with the cast being close-knit again and Selina involved in politics. I really hope they hit it out the park with it being the final one.

omg i watched like the first one or two eps of veep this season and kinda just forgot about it. i guess the gravity of the humour has kinda been cushioned by the fact that satirising the current government is kinda redundant :skull:

28. The season never quite reached the heights it was capable of reaching with the frustrating decision of keeping all storylines separated for the majority of the season, yet the constant jumping around different storylines never took me out of the show or resulted in a loss of focus. Each one highlighted the multiple types of modern-day slavery–forced immigrant labour, sex trafficking, domestic servitude–that can't be ignored. They were all were engrossing to watch too, with the writing extending beyond the limits of network television and more strong performances from Felicity Huffman, Benito Martinez, Regina King and the ensemble. I also felt the ending satisfyingly tied up a lot in a thematic manner. So while the season did have its faults, I appreciate it all, and applaud ABC for airing this ambitious show for three seasons.

27. Definitely the show’s weakest season. I think parts of it suffered from the premature cancellation, but I didn’t entirely enjoy many storytelling decisions that much either, and I don’t think it will change on a rewatch. Storylines involving Jay, Ryan and Christina introduced new situations but seemed to retreat over emotional beats from the previous seasons that ultimately didn't bring anything new. I also thought the new main character Dom was useless and took valuable time away from the more interesting material. It wasn't all bad though as the season still definitely felt like “Kingdom”, with its great characters and performances intact. Exploring Alvey as a fighter with his psyche at his lowest was a highlight, and the series finale was a wonderful heartbreaker that set up a lot of exciting things for the next one (unfortunately).

26. Season two of Misha Green and Joe Pokaski's slavery-era drama widened the show's scope by incorporating the gorgeous Sea Islands landscape and Gullah-Geechee culture; bringing in historical figures such as Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, and exploring the varying ideologies and practices of the Abolitionist Movement. The results were mixed: It felt like there was too much story to tell in a short amount of time (10 episodes), which meant some character development and storytelling got pushed aside. But then, the show would drop it all and give us incredible singular episodes like "Ache" and "Minty", the latter of which was unlike anything that's ever been on TV before. Similar to last year's episode about the children's perspectives, they were the show at its best as they, anchored by powerhouse performances from Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Amirah Vann and Aisha Hinds, deftly focused on personal experiences with brutal contemporary relevance.

All 3 shows that didn't deserve to be cancelled in 2017! Kingdom peaked last year with it's incredible second half of season two.

But Underground and American Crime both had sparks of brilliance and so much more potential. How can they cancel a slave narrative just before the raid on Harpers Ferry? Everyone sucks.

I enjoyed American Crime, though it would've probably been better had they added more than 8 episodes to deliver their message.

I agree on Titus being the star on Kimmy (along with amy), and tbh that's about it. The rest of ladies aren't interesting enough to follow (it pains me to say this abt Jane Krakowski)

T&E was a really fun watch, i liked it.

Everything on WGN had to go, tbh blame Oprah for being rich as hell but claiming Underground was too expensive. Girl bye. You got $3B.

AC S2 will just remain the best for me.

I did watch some of the new Kimmy w/ my sister, it's a little much sometimes but I'm a fan. And I'm not caught up with Veep yet but even in a disappointing season more Jonah sounds like a good bet

19. Much better than season 3, which left me feeling like I had outgrown Broad City or became bored with its very specific appeal. But for all the bizarre and escapist qualities, the new season is marked by newfound maturity and nervous exuberance. Abbi and Ilana are experiencing a new set of struggles as winter comes for New York, and something even more sinister and cold: the Trump presidency. Both aspects are implemented successfully, with the change in temperature providing much comedic material and the political content being far more suited than Hillary Clinton's guest appearance last season. It also gave way to explore universal themes, albeit to mixed results, such as depression and anxiety, seasonal affective disorder, fear of getting old, which has been the show's most traditional effort to include character development.

18. This was by and large a scattered season (again) that would have been better if the writers came prepared for how to handle the separation of its couple and ensemble. Even though Chris Geere and Aya Cash's chemistry is one of the show's strong suits, Jimmy and Gretchen breaking up at the end of S3 was a sensible move that had the new season off to a very fresh and strong start, but around the midpoint, things started to falter with far too many plot threads running and never finding their footing. Though as always, the show shines with standalone episodes like “Not a Great Bet” that delve into the character's psychology. It didn't quite reach the heights of say “Twenty-Two” or “LCD Soundsystem”, but it was a much-needed high point for the season that isn't achieved again until the finale.

17. The middle of the season kinda spun its wheels but the first few episodes and the penultimate one were all wonderful. “Terms of Service” in particular was done so well by presenting the show's formula in a hilariously different context but in doing so reinforced the show's most frustrating issue for me. I don't mind the reset button technique the show's always going to use, it just would be ideal if they allowed the change to occur for longer than it usually does. The writers are more than capable enough to make it work without invalidating the premise of the show. It's not even to give it dramatic, high-stakes either but there's so much comedy plot material there to match the consistent jokes and performances by Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods and Martin Starr, who are some of my favourite TV actors working today.

I didn't even give S4 of Broad City a chance, S3 was just too much of a struggle for me.

You're the Worst is frustrating... Hopefully its final season will follow in the footsteps of its FX predecessors and be fantastic.

That's a good spot for SV. I have more than enough faith in Mike Judge anyways. King of the Hill had its down/samey/stuck in the mud moments but bounced back, SV can do the same. I still liked the season though.

The two belong in the same sentence? I really don't think that is possible.

They have a lot of similarities, FNL is the better show though for obvious reasons.

I don't watch that shows :alexz:

YTW improved from S3 despite a dodgy second half, i hope it gets a satisfying conclusion.

Jared was the MVP of Silicon Valley but Richard's evolution during this season was interesting to follow.

Broad City should end by next year, don't think they have anything else to offer

You would be right! The new season was nowhere near as insane or foolish as the real US government. Lol.

Same but I was very excited for S4. The focus would've been even more relevant now.

Also you should definitely give Kingdom a go because it's the best of the bunch + what Wicked said.

Thank you for participating anyway! And yep Timothy Simons is a gift in the role

Give it a go! It's an anthology series so you can watch any season you want.

S1 focuses on race, class and the judicial system; S2 (fave) focuses on male rape, sexual orientation and socioeconomic disparity, and S3 focuses on types of modern-day slavery.

Well I thought S4 was much better than S3 but a lot of people are sharing the feelings I had for it for this season instead.

It has the potential but I think the show's been too inconsistent to expect it to happen. S5 is the right time for it to end though.

Yep! It's not entirely a bad thing either. Even though I think it would be better if they drew more out of the new circumstances, Mike Judge is amazing at setting up a joke and making it land in just 1 episode. Dinesh becoming CEO and then stepping down & the team's failed Skunkworks project made "Terms of Service" and "Meinertzhagen's Haversack" as great and memorable as they are.

Hmm I don't necessarily disagree with that. I wouldn't miss it...Abbi and Ilana can do other things.
