ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 13, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 loved Burn it Down
Bubble Tea Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 "Now or Never" is good by Halsey's standards.
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 13, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Updated the OP with a recap of the first five songs obviously not too useful yet but later on down the line
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 13, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 Halsey's change in direction paid off but she shouldn't have released such a rehash of a Rihanna song as a lead even if its really not that bad.
Lazuli Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Quote This is Camila's best song so far imho I don't even like Canola but... Now Or Never is tragic
sumthintoxic82 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Now or Never grew on me toward the end of the year
Diarrhoea Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 OMG and Now or Never are cute, Dead is a bit funny
Wondy Lust Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I liked the Daughter song the best out of those, thought the rest were not for me. Excited for your EP's tho
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 13, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 13, 2017 UNORIGINAL'S BEST OF 2017 2017's 50 Best Singles 50 - 46 #45 Sigrid - Strangers We love a nice bit of pop perfection greatness. The lyrics and the song's basic premise are pretty self explanatory and it's actually very similar to Halsey's Strangers in the way it plays out (there would've been two Strangers on this list if Halsey's was a proper single but alas). Kind of a laugh-and-dance-at-the-same-time song that works very well. The production borders loud for being the sake of loud but it doesn't cross the line so I'm a fan. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Sigrid in 2018 with stuff hopefully just as good as or better than this. listen here #44 Ry X - Bad Love I really like this. Bad Love gives me dark Years & Years vibes and Ry's voice is like a more emotive darker Olly too (no shade to Olly I like Y&Y a lot). The buildup to the chorus is very slow but equally so rewarding. The entire song exudes a feeling of deep want and it's just so simply yet stunningly effective and the by the end of the song another play is pretty much guaranteed. listen here #43 Allie X feat. VÉRITÉ - Casanova In all honesty I prefer the solo version to the VÉRITÉ version because the solo feels like it has a bit more oomph but the collab was the single version so there's not a lot I can do about that. Casanova's an excellent slice of deep snythpop that's dense and heavy and has some excellent use of vocoder effects. In a way, VÉRITÉ almost overshadows Allie slightly because her vocals are that tiny bit more powerful and VÉRITÉ seems to give her verse her all but I can't really bash either one for it. The Xs truly won this year with back to back entries huh? listen here #42 Drake - Passionfruit Drake's musical output in 2016 was a no from me but Passionfruit was less a step in the right direction and more a leap. I honestly love this. Nana Rogues' production is easily (and obviously) the highlight of the song but Drake's lyrics are also pretty decent (maybe the similes are slightly odd but it's a petty minor complaint. I'm really only talking about the picket fences bit) and the chorus is essentially guaranteed to get stuck in your head on the first of the tenth or the fiftieth listen. Tropical-infused dancehall done perfectly. listen here #41 Kesha - Praying This was such a stunningly triumphant return for Kesha and completely not the route I was expecting her to go down. In all honesty I wasn't even expecting a proper single and album release but here we are. I had no expectations playing the song for the first time but it's so emotional and so powerful and an amazing '**** you' to everybody that tried to screw her over backed by a simple but beautifully effective piano. Kesha hit the mark here with a song that ATRL rightfully raved about. If Woman was a properly released single Kesha would've hit the top 35 won't lie. listen here I quite like this set tbh so I hope it's agreeable for you too. 40 - 36 tomorrow though it might be slightly/quite late because I'm going to see The Last Jedi and I have a **** ton of homework due for Friday. Either way I'll see you tomorrow!
theblackestday Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Casanova is a bop and probably the only song I actually liked from Allie X's album. It's kind of a The Weeknd' Secrets rip off though Passionfruit is excellent and my fave from the bunch.
Mark Rih Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Ahhhhh Passionfruit I also love Strangers.

World Eater Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Passionfruit is a hell of a bop but I won't admit it because I've become a Drake hater ever since the release of Views Praying tho
Dom Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Passion fruit omg omgg, a song, werk a bit, and Praying color me bald.

Remmy Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Casanova and Praying Invented the words "bop" and "ballad" (respectively) Yeah, definitely agree that the solo version of Casanova is superior. VÉRITÉ isn't bad on it, but she just doesn't really bring anything to the table for me.
Eeveelution Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Passionfruit. Yeah, the album version of Casanova stomps on that remix. That Verite girl's voice is... not the tea.
SLIME Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Praying was crazy tbh, I could barely even listen for the first few months because of how hard it hit that first time... defo left an impression. I'm team anti-Drake too but PF was hard to deny + I objectively only know Havana still from CC but I'll go off ur rec. Will be good to know if she's got the guds for real
Buddy Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Passionfruit and Praying Imo, though, Need You by Allie X >>>>>
Lazuli Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Passionfruit is cute! Praying is a little too low tho
