"Mary" was originally there but GOD, it slayed me like nothing I can think of in such short span of time 'Capacity's' centerpiece is a bittersweet ballad filled with melancholy, with an unusually long, but extremely satisfying chorus. Whew! Reveal hidden contents Dragging Obama and delivering at the same a total BOP? ANOHNI can't relate Mad as hell is THAT song
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 29, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 29, 2017 I still didn't listen to the other US Girls song but I loved Mad as Hell oops
World Eater Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Little update: #8-6 today, #5-3 tomorrow and #2-1 on NYE
World Eater Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Spoiler A stunning progressive sing that is also a nod to "Running Up That Hill". Kate Bush found...comfortably sitting by a fireplace while listening to this and drinking hot chocolate, y'all THOUGHT. Spoiler What can I say, Sheer Mag have mastered their crafts and came up with a perfect rock song Spoiler Hundred Waters have always been pretty lowkey. "Wave to Anchor" proves that they can get out of their comfort zone and in fact can only gain from taking risks. This atypical banger shines like nothing they've done before
World Eater Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Spoiler Equally personal and political, 'Nothing Feels Natural' is only a reminder that the DIY scene is alive and well. Spoiler Yet again I didn't plan to have the same rtist twice in the same update but w/e. I loved Sheer Mag ever since the EP days and I'm still convinced they haven't released a bad song. With their proper debut album (s/o to last year's awesome 'Compilation LP') you can see how they've already evolved. They've sort of gotten rid of the distorted effect to expose Tina's powerful vocals but also kept all the things that made them so unique and made me love them so much in the first place. Spoiler Never was big into Alex G but he caught my attention with the pre-release singles, which were diverse to say the least. There was a rewarding, folky "Witch," "Bobby," a slow alt-country jam, an exceptional straightforward anthem called "Proud," a beautiful autotuned mess that was "Sportstar" and the best Death Grips track since 2013, "Brick". They represented 'Rocket' perfectly - as something that is simultaneously all over the place (there's also a song that samples a barking dog and another that sounds like a lost 'Wowee Zowee'-era Pavement track) AND is strikingly simple.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 29, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 29, 2017 Interesting PG pick, don't remember it! Wave to Anchor amazes me, although it's really only a slight change from their comfort zone love the way the synths sound like the wavy ocean.
Playa Playa Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Wreath is everything Duet of the year? Probably. Edit: Just noticed I mixed up Wreath and Sides fjahfa. Wreath is a nice solo song! Priests got a few listens from me. A very nice album they released. Edited December 29, 2017 by Playa Playa
