ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #13 Girli - Hot Mess Sooooooooo, after GFOTY decided that quality is not going to be a factor in her career anymore I devastatingly craved someone new to fill that hole. JK, she's not that important, but we got that hole filled anyway by Girli. Her less experimental music probably will give her more dedicated fans who don't want to be constantly put off by obnoxious screaming and cacophony. The lyrics are a little bit more feminist (Hot Mess is 2017's "Just a Girl") and overall she does pull from Eurotrance more methinks. Anyway, nobody asked, but we have her so we might as well enjoy. The first and final tracks are the strongest.

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #12 Sleigh Bells - Kid Kruschev Sleigh Bells basically threw away whatever was left of their reputation with this dream poppy EP but I still think it has some good stuffs in it especially the first three tracks. They've always been underrated after their debut anyway. Give it a fair chance OKAY?
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #11 Fatima Al Qadiri - Shaneera I'm not sure I understand this concept by obnoxious noisy electronic musician Fatima Al Qadiri. It's supposed to be like her version of arab gay club bangers? It's useable for 4-5 listens but then gets old. It's strength is its consistency since every song is pretty much equally enjoyable. There's no one song that makes it or one song that you have to suffer through so good for her!
theblackestday Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Loved Sleigh Bells' EP. Don't know the other ones
TRF. Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I love Shaneera though I think it's her strongest project by faaar. I love the concept too! And Rainmaker is good, the rest of the EP is a bit too soft for me though I guess.

Sunderland 4ever Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Nice to see spotify links. Now that I have an account I find it so much easier to listen to other people's favorite songs. How come I forgot Sleigh Bells' release. Will check!
World Eater Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 That Sleigh Bells EP was kinda all over the place, still haven't decided if I like it or no nn
SLIME Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 that fatima cover is still Sleigh Bells and I have a complicated relationship. But guess I owe them at least shot
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #10 Dreamcatcher - Nightmare Really isn't much of an EP since track one is an intro (a good one) and track 4 is an instrumental version of track 2. So basically the strength lies on the lead single which will do very well in my songs list. Is it the Kpop answer to BABYMETAL? I think that's a shallow comparison. It's basically pop-rock kpop done right by a slight metal influence that ups the tempo and keeps the energy high. The b-side is good enough for this to be a solid EP so therefore I put it on my list. But these girls have a lot of talent and a unique approach to kpop. I enjoyed their other releases too and they're ones to watch out for when they put out a full album I guarantee they snatch!

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #09 Buscabulla - EP II Cute Spanish chillwave EP for the kids. It's trendy enough for most people to enjoy it but not overwhelmingly faceless. There's definitely a unique viewpoint at the core of this but I kinda wonder if they'll ever gain enough traction to do magical things with their career. I hope so. Did Dev Hynes produce this? I think he did! Well anyway most of the chillwave legends disappointed this year and this group did better than them all so let's give them props!

I didn't know it was actually her, but like, could you blame with me that cover? I mean, how do you go from Telly tubby policeman to thaT
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #08 Alice Glass - Alice Glass Finally we get a solo Alice Glass release. This felt like almost a decade in the making, and the idea seemed too good to be true! Well, luckily for me, it's a good release. Is it great? No, but definitely this is the turning point of my EPs list where I feel like as a whole its a body of work that stands on its own instead of one or two songs or some potential for the artist. There are a lot of directions she could have gone on tangential to the CC aesthetic, and she explores a lot of them. She does a Purity Ring imitation better than that one song they released this year, some more experimental screamy songs that you know she loves, and about two CC+art pop songs that are basically what she should be doing for the rest of her career (or for one album). Good for her!
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #07 Danny L Harle - 1UL Danny L Harle is the best songwriter in PC music. Like, by far. His least adventurous EP **noisewise** is probably his best EP overall. Me4U and 1UL are pop bangers backed by euphoric choruses and well, the other two, I'll reserve my thoughts about them Whoever he hired to sing vocals did a very good job on all the songs.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 #06 Red Velvet - Rookie OK, this is basically carried by one REALLY REALLY REALLY good song. The other songs are good too but yeah I don't really need to say any more.
Dom Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Finally I know smth..gosh. Alice Glass listened to that Ep but it really didn’t connect with me or made me listen to it a few more times, for a basic bops lover like me it was different but I really liked white lies from that ep, gr8 track.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I liked Half of Danny's EP, but they're great songs. I only remember a couple of tracks from Alice & Sleigh Bells. Buscubulla was on my to-do list but never got around to it.
K$Ellie Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Oblivion being #1 over Genesis tho When I Rule The World was that bop Art Angels #1 two years ago so many bops (except Scream ofc, eww)
