MLD's Top 100 Songs: 30 - 21

30. Jonas Blue f. William Singe - Mama

I believe I came across this song one day on YouTube while it was playing through some EDM songs. I had already liked the Fast Car cover from these guys. And I knew William Singe from X Factor Australia's The Collective. So my curiosity did take a peek. And after a few plays I was hooked. I'm surprised this song didn't chart in the US despite being a success in other countries of the world. But what I find even crazier is that William Singe is the only X Factor Australia alumni to chart in the UK top 40. Anyways, this is a tropical EDM highlight.

Only appearances by Jonas Blue and William Singe

29. Steve Aoki f. Lauren Jauregui - All Night

Steve Aoki's second music collab with a group member from a popular group makes its appearance. This time, he collaborated with Lauren Jauregui of the ill-fated Fifth Harmony. Lauren's crisp and pure vocals make this song pop in a way that Louis Tomlinson couldn't with Just Hold On. The beat of this song is calmer which allows Lauren's vocals to shine. And the final chorus where Lauren has those high notes add to a perfect finale. Hope this becomes a 2018 hit for Lauren.

Final appearance of Steve Aoki. First of two appearances by Lauren Jauregui

28. Charlie Puth - Attention

Charlie's pop music has really taken a notch this year. Or at least he did it with this song. One Call Away and Marvin Gaye aged like milk. We Don't Talk Anymore is ok every once in awhile but not something you could really get into. Attention however - this song slays. The guitar riff throughout the entire song bringing you in from start to finish really gets your attention and I love the fact he dragged Bella Thorne with this song. I never liked that bitch in the first place.

Final appearance by Charlie Puth

27. Bonnie McKee - Thorns

Even though Bonnie didn't get the mainstream success she deserved earlier on in her career, I still appreciate the fact that she releases music when she wants to. This song in particular is very interesting and unique. I like the message it sends that she has scars and imperfections - but that her boyfriend should embrace them instead of dismiss them. I also like how dark this song sounds. Pretty good for fall around Halloween. Regardless of chart success, Bonnie rarely disappoints.

Only appearance by Bonnie McKee

26. Fergie f. Nicki Minaj - You Already Know

The Nicki Minaj collab that we waited three years for. Honestly, I feel like it wasn't worth the wait COMPLETELY, but I do think this song slayed to an extent. The chorus is the best part of the song as well as Nicki's verse. It's nice as good as L.A.Love or M.I.L.F$ but it definitely is still a bop. Too bad Double Dutchess completely tanked.

Only appearance by Fergie. First of two appearances by Nicki Minaj

25. Katy Perry f. Migos - Bon Appetit

Katy is finally making another appearance and we have finally reached the Big 3 of the songs she released this year. And deservedly, Bon Appetit is the lowest of the three. This song was and still is at times a bop. But Katy can do better. This song was lacking that magic it needed to be as delectable as her TD and PRISM singles, or even Roulette and Witness. But it still gets better as the song progresses. The final chorus makes up for the lack of magic in the first one so this song redeemed itself in the end.

Fourth of six appearances by Katy Perry. Only appearance by Migos

24. Cheat Codes f. Demi Lovato - No Promises

I slept on this for most of the year, but I finally got into this last month. This song is very crisp and makes me think of the pacific coast of California. Demi's vocals on this song are very memorable and I like she goes from being more restrained to letting it out as the song progresses. The male singers are great too and the breakdown has enough energy to keep the song moving. Demi really came through with this EDM song!

Only appearance by Cheat Codes. Second of three appearances by Demi Lovato

23. Liam Payne f. Quavo - Strip That Down

I definitely wasn't into this song that much at first, but the more I played it, the more I liked it. It's also a very good masturbation song because it's a nice soundtrack to looking at the racy pictures of all the men I like. #nofilter. Plus, Liam was smart for the single cover to show skin because he's serving sex this era. I don't care how generic his stuff is. I'm digging it now and y'all can kiss my bitch ****.

22. Halsey f. Lauren Jauregui - Strangers

The lesbian equivalent of Somebody That I Used To Know has arrived. I believe this is the first time that not one but TWO bisexual pop girls have collaborated according to my knowledge, and the end result is magnificent. Halsey and Lauren both singing why their relationship has become nothing more than just two strangers is very similar to how Gotye and Kimbra sing about their relationship deteriorating in Somebody That I Used To Know. And the chorus with them both coming together to sing works so well as Lauren has better harmony with Halsey than she ever had with the gals from 5H. And lastly, the equal amount of time for Halsey and Lauren to sing makes this even more so magical. Both this and All Night are why I'm rooting HARD for Lauren's solo career now and this is another reason why I've really liked Halsey this era.

Second of three appearances by Halsey. Final appearance by Lauren Jauregui

21. P!nk - What About Us?

Just shy of the Top 20 is P!nk. It's been awhile since I have really enjoyed a P!nk single. The Truth About Love era as a whole just had very lackluster and overrated singles. Try is the only song from that era I'd still listen to. But even then, that song hasn't that well either. So for P!nk to come out with this song and for me to continuously become more and more in love with this song was a very good thing. I love the more mature approach she took with this song, something that I think a lot of people want right now with the scary times we currently have in the US. This song is about to spend it's 20th week on the Hot 100 which for her age and for how long she's been in the industry, that is a great thing. And I must say, the bridge is one of the best bridges in pop this year. Very inspiring and anthemic and it perfectly gets the final chorus set into motion. Welcome back P!nk, and well done. This was her best single in 6 years.

MLD's Top 100 Songs: 20 - 11

20. Lady Gaga - The Cure

I don't think I was ever expecting Lady Gaga to chart this high on my countdown again. After the trashpit that was ARTPOP and the borehore that was Joanne, I was just honestly not expecting Gaga to deliver anything I could genuinely enjoy a longer term basis anymore. But then this song got released out of nowhere and she proved me wrong. This is her best song in 6 years. It also shows that when she wants to deliver a quality pop bop, she still  has that magic. I wish she hadn't paid this dust. But oh well, Gaga gave me some of her old magic back this year.

Only appearance by Lady Gaga

19. Katy Perry f. Skip Marley - Chained To the Rhythm

Katy came back with this song. It's a grower and it does have an important message, with an interesting video. And it's catchy. I was into for awhile, then it was put on the back burner, and now I'm into it again because it's one of the superior singles of the era. Flop or not, I still enjoy Katy's music even when I know it's her weakest era.

Third of four appearances by Katy Perry

18. Demi Lovato - Sorry Not Sorry

If I'm going tbh, this is probably my least favorite lead single of Demi's, only losing to Get Back, which aged like milk :skull:

It's still very catchy though and has very badass and savage lyrics. But it doesn't hold a huge candle to Here We Go Again, Skyscraper, Heart Attack and Cool For the Summer. But like I said, it's still good for a lead single and she finally managed to outpeak This Is Me with that song! It was about damn time. 9 whole years of waiting.

Final appearance by Demi Lovato

17. Kygo f. Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me

Leave it to Selena to give Kygo his best single yet. Something a little more upbeat than his usual work and Selena brings so much energy to this song that it needed to be that bop it needed to be. Selena is only getting started here in the Top 20!

Final appearance of Kygo. Second of four appearances by Selena Gomez

16. Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared To Be Lonely

I knew I was going to really like this song when I first heard the LQ version from Coachella or wherever it premiered. The HQ didn't disappoint. Martin's production here is restrained but powerful when it needed to be, therefore, allowing Dua's vocals to shine on this song. The two of them together created a magical and soulful EDM track that deserved more success than it got. And it is by far the best song both of them have released this year.

Final appearances by Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa

15. Halsey - Bad At Love

If I wasn't hooked on Halsey after Now Or Never, or Strangers, this song got me hooked with that one-two-three punch. The entire song from start to finish is very captivating - with the verses leading into the chorus talking about very interesting relationships with both men AND women, as well as the delicate production and Halsey's flow. It has resulted in an addictive track that gets better with each listen!

Final appearance by Halsey

14. Selena Gomez - Bad Liar

This song is very unique and interesting to come from Selena. With that guitar and handclapping riff leading the way for Selena's very interesting delivery of the verses, it was hard for me to not get this stuck in my head most of the year. That is something that Fetish failed to do. This song stood-out for the right reasons. Hoping her album comes out next year.

Third of four appearances by Selena Gomez

13. Rachel Platten - Broken Glass

ATRL's most hated kindheart released a new album this year. Broken Glass was the lead single. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only true standout of her album so far, based on the previews or the few songs I've had a chance to listen to completely. I feel like this time around, Rachel's album was a true definition of a sophomore slump, both commercially and quality wise. Yet for some reason ATRL seemed to enjoy her album this time around...almost as if it pulled an Emotion. That being said, this song in particular is great and it's a nice child to Fight Song. It's catchy and still inspiring. I just wish the rest of the album was as good as this song.

Only appearance by Rachel Platten

12. Madison Beer - Dead

Madison really grew up this year. And this song proved it. It's a very dark song about coming off of a rocky relationship and the minimalistic production allows Madison to show off her vocals. And that bridge is EVERYTHING and leads back into the chorus with avengeance to finish the song off right. I hope one day Madison can actually release an album, but at least right now, her singles show how much of a journey she has gone through since 2013.

Final appearance by Madison Beer

11. Taylor Swift - Call It What You Want

I don't like putting promo singles in my Top 10, in case they end up becoming actual singles later. So this is as far as I could put CIWYW this year on my countdown. Had it been released as a single, this would have been Top 10, no questions asked. This song is my favorite off of Reputation, and I just love how triumphant Taylor sounds on this song. It's songs like this, that shows how she does her own thing without letting the media get to her in the end. And it shows that she doesn't care anymore and she's happy regardless on HER call. Also, the bridge to this song is the best one of the year. The references to Love Story are just over the top great and a full circle moment :jonny:. Hopefully if this becomes a single it can be part of the 2018 best of.

Fifth of seven appearances by Taylor Swift

The Top 10 is next. Make your predictions! Who do you think will  make it and who will be #1?

@potent @Inner Insanity @Remmy @K$Ellie @Kavish @Mr.Link @Ghostlysnaker @TheWayWeWere @Ant @Green @Ivan_brit @prézli @Queen Conchita @Denis Stoff @thecptz @Temporal @lhdang2000
