Mr. Loco Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Something just like this is a great combination! I don't know how people can hate it Love is also really beautiful, Lana actually slayed with this one Scared to be lonely is great too
K$Ellie Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Love is too low Only You would be cute without the horrible lyrics Scared To Be Lonely Younger Now, Good Old Days and Fetish
Admiral Bobbery Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 60-51! 60: No Distraction - Beck My favorite song off of Colors is really Dreams, but seeing as that was a single two years ago (and was already on my Best Of that year), I can’t really include it on this list. This is a kinda distant second. I love the hook in the chorus and it just has a very cool, effortless vibe to it. 59: Jump Up, Superstar - Kate Higgins Yes, I’m including a video game theme song here. Sue me. It’s a very fun, jazzy, jam that’s honestly better than what many mainstream acts were putting out this year. It’s just so catchy, fun, and uplifting all the way through. 58: 3Am Pull Up - Charli XCX ft. MO Interesting production that builds up as the song goes along. The chorus is what really makes this song. Mo’s verse isn’t bad either. 57: Software Upgrade - Poppy A really fun pop bop. Can’t really say anything more than that. 56: Dearly Beloved - Kiesza Not the biggest fan of her overall, but this is a good song. I like the emotionality to it and the emphasis on the guitar. It’s a bit of a sonic departure for her considering her debut was very house influenced. The bridge and key change at the end is what really makes the song though.
Admiral Bobbery Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) 55-51! 55: Florets - Grace VanderWaal This is a fun and breezy song. Has a nice breakdown in the chorus. The melody really soars in the buildup to the chorus. Coupled with an interesting voice and solid lyrics (especially given her age) and you get an interesting album highlight. 54: 13 Beaches - Lana Del Rey This has some really lush production. There a bit of a synthpop influence in parts. This has a building and moving melody that complements the production. The thing that really draws me into this song is her use of her head voice. That’s always a winner for me. 53: HIM - Sam Smith A emotional ballad that resonates more than Sam’s material usually does with me. I feel like this song is more honest than some of his other material. You can really feel it in his vocals. 52: MIC Drop - BTS I love the intensity this song brings. The production is pretty fire too. 51: On The Loose - Niall Horan This song has a decent groove with some interesting guitar strums thrown in at just the right time. His voice is very pleasant on this song. The chorus hook is petty strong and the lyrics are solid for what they are trying to go for. A very good opening track. That's it for today. However, I do have to amend something. It wasn't until I was doing today's update posts that I realized that I had included 2 Lana songs from the same album on this list, thus breaking my main rule for the list. So, for record keeping sake, think of Love being bumped off the list and Mary J Blige being moved up to the top 100. Whoops. Anyway, thanks for following my list. Tomorrow's update will happen at the same time, 6pm. Edited December 20, 2017 by Admiral Bobbery

Lazuli Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Beck's album was sorta cute I guess 13 Beaches is the best song on LFL
TheWayWeWere Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 3AM is kinda underrated, it's a Dearly Beloved was incredible, should've smashed everywhere 13 Beaches
Admiral Bobbery Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 50-41! 50 : Poor Me – Shania Twain A bit of a rip off of Don’t Let Me Down but I like this song much more. I love the double entrende going on in the lyrics (though it took me a shameful about of time to realize it) and the production really complements Shania’s vocals. Out of all the songs on the album, this one stood out to me the most. 49: One More Light – Linkin Park This is a really sad song in retrospect of Chester’s death. This was always the standout of the album to me even before that though. It felt like it was the most “real” song on the album. It’s just so raw and honest, though some of the lyrics are a bit clumsy. The emotional impact of this song really hits home at times. Chester’s voice is the main draw of this song. 48: Any Party - Fiest Her vocals on this song are interesting. The melody is interesting and the production has an unpolished sound that works. A fairly interesting love song overall. 47: Passionfruit - Drake Sometimes I find Drake’s music to be overrated. This song is not one of those times. I love the chill and dreamy vibe this song has. The production is what really makes this song along with the melody. It would only be better if the singer wasn’t so monotone. 46: Disco **** – Tove Lo One of the few Tove Lo songs I can get into. The melodies throughout this song are great and I love the dark take on disco. Her voice sounds very sexy on this track.
Admiral Bobbery Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 45: Zoo – Red Velvet A very interesting song from a composition standpoint, especially with the animal noises in the background. It does toe the line with me about how much sugariness I can take in a song, but the melody and the composition keep me very interested. 44: Killing A Little Time – David Bowie This is a dark song. The production is intense and very rock oriented. Very much fits at home on Blackstar. The lyrics revolve around the anger and confusion around dealing with one’s impending death. Really wish this song had made the album. Kind of sad thinking this is probably the last time David will have a song eligible for one of these. 43: Same Day Different Bottle – Lauren Alania Never been the biggest fan of this girl but she really wrote a great song here. It’s a cautionary tale about the ravages of alcoholism. The lyrics cut deep. A good sign of promise from a young country artist. 42: Free Me - Sia Sia really delivers on this ballad. It’s very reminiscent of her 00’s material. A very bittersweet cry for freedom. 41: Tell Me You Love Me – Demi Lovato A song that really shows off Demi’s vocals without taking her into the lowkey screaming territory she sometimes goes into. I love the more R&B focused production. I love the horns on this song too. One of her most interesting songs overall. Today's update a little early because of family coming in to visit. Anyway, tomorrow's update will be early. Probably sometime after 8am. If it turns out I can't do it tomorrow (and there is a chance I won't be able too) I will update ya'll then. Thanks for coming by!

Admiral Bobbery Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 40-31! 40: Love Is Pain - Fergie Fergie’s Album was underwhelming overall, but this song is one exception. Her vocals on this song soar (if a bit screechy at times) and I love the melody and vibe. It’s very Prince to me. 39: Diving – Bridgit Mendler This song has some very spacey production. It really helps set the mood. The chorus has an interesting melody. Her voice really complements this kind of sound. One of her strongest songs. 38: Finder’s Keepers – Mabel ft. Kojo Funds This is just a really good bop. The beat is interesting and I love the way Mabel and Kojo harmonize throughout the song. The biggest highlight on her mixtape from this year. 37: Where We Go – P!nk I love the folk/pop vibe of this song. I reminds me of a poppy version of a Of Monsters and Men song, which to me is not a bad thing. The chorus is one of the strongest on her new album. 36: Not Today - BTS Might be my favorite K-Pop song I’ve heard (mind you that’s not too terribly many). The production kind of gets loud in some places but I just love the intensity this song has. The video also probably plays a role in me liking this as much as I do.
Admiral Bobbery Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 (edited) 35: Everybody Knows - Kimbra This is a really great song, I love the mystical vibe it has. It’s nice to see Kimbra again after being away for a while and to see her be so happy. 34: New Year’s Day – Taylor Swift Basically represents what made Taylor’s good material good in the first place. Just a simple, sweet, emotional song that paints a really beautiful picture. 33: Two Ghosts – Harry Styles This is a really breezy, but sad, song. Lyrically, it’s very nice and Harry’s vocals on this track really help make it. The melody is simple, but very effective. 32: Drew Barrymore - SZA This is very chill. The vocal melody in the verses is interesting. I especially love the harmonies. The chorus is interesting too. Her vocals remind me of Amy Winehouse a bit. 31: Location - Khalid This is such a smooth chill song. His vocals are just like velvet on this track. The beat is also interesting. The lyrics revolve around young love and manage to reference online communication without coming across as corny or instantly dating itself too much. Ok, just managed to find enough time to update this today. Tomorrow's update will probably come sometime in the morning, say 11am or something like that. Thank you all for coming by!
