Albums - Honorable Mentions (pt. 1)

These were the albums that didn't make the top 50 cut for various reasons but I still feel were worth the listen. Am just gonna put em up in bursts as I have the time, in some order approximating the furthest calls leading up to the closest.

Digging a lot of past #1s. And that HM's list is pretty reasonable.

Alt J was pretty forgettable for me tbh.

Arca deserved tbh  but yeah I'm cool with the rest not being on the list. Cashmere Cat and Feist were interesting though!

Never listened to Ken.  I think I could have enjoyed a song or two from it too.

Didn't bother with Arca/Alt J cause I don't like them.

9 has well produced songs that are mostly teribly written.

Boo Boo and the Ariel album are cute, but yeah I ended up tossing them aside after a few weeks.

Really wanted to like the Feist album and it probably deserves another try, but that first listen was ... not the move.

They've never been a great band for me but they get at a nice sound sometimes. Wasn't exactly itching to dive back in tho

Haim and GB were kinda disappointing, Rina kinda deserved tho :/

Loved Grizzly Bear, liked Feist, Rina and tried to get to Ariel Pink's album but only like two songs sticked, one however was brilliant.

haven't heard most of the others but Haim definitely sucked nn.

Shabazz Palaces did a lot for me, but I found the 2nd album they released this year a bit more satisfying. Saturation 1 had some killer singles. Wasn't a fan of haim or *****graphers.

The only good thing about STTY was the font they used on the cover, which I stole and used on my graphics :dies: And speaking of disappointments, Painted Ruins did nothing on me. Quarz and RINA were so good tho, Saturation also had its moments but II is clearly better :chick1:

There was nothing bad about it for me, just underwhelming to the point where I found myself second guessing if their debut was really that good after all... and then I went back and realized that wasn't the problem :skull: a Disclosure tea.

STTY was clearly underwritten and too repetitive. Like, I can't believe they spent almost 4 years working on it :rip: And don't let me even start on Disclosure :skull:

Woo, there's part 3 :eatpopcorn: That Hoops album was really good, it reminded me of early Wild Nothings. I feel like I need to revisit Gang Signs & Prayer but from what I rihmember it was nice. Shut Up is still that song :katie2:

kinda crazy having Skepta at 15 last year then Wiley/Stormz bubbling under when they could show him a LOT lyrically,,,.......

but I guess that's the power of delivery and/or grime overload
