theblackestday Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I'm surprised The Twin didn't make it considering how much you hyped it Also you stanned for Masseduction so I'm surprised it didn't make it either Kelly Lee Owens, Process are my faves from this batch
World Eater Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Eek, so many great albums! I lowkey hated Coexist and thought Halsey You would be the final nail in the coffin for The xx but it turned out they made a pleasant comeback Pixx would have been a thing (but like, on Tumblr ) if she'd released this album in this form 4 years ago It was an enjoyable record nonetheless.
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 15, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 MASSEDUCTION, I See You and Pure Comedy
Eeveelution Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I See You, Drunk and Kelly Lee owns are good. Masseduction deserved better though obviously.
Vilppu Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I See You and Process were good but not too mad at HM for them, Masseduction deserved better though
Pink Matter Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Whoops haven't posted in here for a bit. Loved pretty much your entire Pop Songs list and from your main list I enjoyed these the most: Sip O' Poison, Alan, LUST., Hologram, How We Met, The Long Version, Love Galore, Utopia, Dum Surfer, Frontline, Friendzone, and Sign of the Times As far as your albums list goes, it's all pretty much heat! Process, MASSEDUCTION, I See You, Sick Scenes, Pure Comedy, and Drunk Keep em coming

Tom Vercetti Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I'm surprised by some of these mentions, but hey, it'll make the main one a little less predictable~

Glassmouth Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 #149 LCD Soundsystem Call the Police Quote Call the Police is one of American Dream's lead singles and as such this track is almost instantaneously catchy and enjoyable. I absolutely love the vibe and the amazing synths in the background. #148 Mister and Mississippi Mirage Quote Mirage is a dreamy and almost psychedelic rock song, the vocalist moves like velvet through the guitar and trippy synths, this is a really vibey bop and one that everyone should get to know. Super enjoyable and I'm thankful I stumbled across this band by accident. #147 The Undercover Dream Lovers Come Home Quote Yet here we have another indie rock song that has a super amazingly well produced bass, the guitar work is super cute and the mellow voice the vocalist serves puts everything together to make a great chill psychedelic-inspired rock song. #146 Ruby Haunt Destroyer Quote The lo-fi 80s-inspired vibe of this dreamy rock cut is atmospheric as hell, this is a perfect song to just drive around and look at the world, honestly I love it AND then the vocals come in and add the final perfect note to this song. Ugh, amazing. #145 HAIM Want You Back Quote Okay, these girls' album was a total disappointment BUT Want You Back is a cute anthem that reminds me of the sweetest moments of Days are Gone. #144 Porches Find Me Quote The way Aaron's depressing and gray voice moves through these dance beats achieve to colour this song in a really interesting way, if you liked Pool you'll love this amazing dance bop. #143 Soccer Mommy Allison Quote Another vibey and kinda sad indie-rock track was served this year, I'm glad women were able to be the ones to serve the best indie-rock cuts and albums this year and with that being said.... Allison could easily be in a movie soundtrack, the vibe, the way Soccer Mommy's vocal harmonies move through the guitar and the atmosphere that they create together is simply amazing. #142 Miami Horror Leila Quote Miami Horror has been able to produce really nice dance-pop since their earlier days and with Leila they do it again, with a sound that reminds me a bit of Cut Copy, Leila moves in a disco-tinted light and it works perfectly with the vocalist's voice, I've said the word 'vibey' a LOT but.. hell, this one is also vibey as hell, I can't help but headbang every time this comes on shuffle. #141 SACRED PAWS Everyday Quote SACRED PAWS' art-pop-punk music recalls a more dreamy Talking Heads, an instant dance anthem if you ask me. #140 The Babe Rainbow Peace Blossom Boogy Quote AND HERE IT COMES AUSTRALIA AGAIN with its amazing and underrated psychedelic rock bands, this song sounds straight out of the 70s!
Tom Vercetti Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I wasn't too into Call The Police at first compared to American Dream but not bad. Find Me has a groove That Babe rainbow track is neat. Sounds like an Oldies nod.
Glassmouth Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 #139 - #126 #139 Sheer Mag Need to Feel Your Love Quote Need to Feel Your Love sounds like a classic rock song from the 70s, the way the vocals flow is amazing, the singer has a kinda raspy voice that suits the guitar work perfectly and adds a gritty soul to this song. #138 Future Islands Ran Quote Future Islands' Ran, like much of this bands' songs, is enjoyable since the very start of your very first listen and it also has a kind of nostalgic soul underneath that synth-pop sound. #137 Wavves I Love You Quote I Love You recalls a more rock-ish and surf-rock-y Beach Boys, it's enjoyable, sweet and it kinda bangs too, this song is a perfect midtempo ballad. #136 Bonobo Kerala Quote Despite the fact that this was released as a single last year I'm adding it to the list because the record was released this year and honestly this song deserves it, the hypnotic atmosphere created by those angelic sounds combined with the beat and the insane repeating atmosphere that goes amazingly well with the video (one of the best music videos I've ever seen too) makes this track super super enjoyable. #135 Cut Copy Standing in the Middle of the Field Quote Cut Copy's Haiku from Zero doesn't really bring anything new to Cut Copy's table but it reinforces their pop game, Standing (refering it as just 'Standing' because I ain't writing that big ass name again) is a perfectly crafted dance song with dancehall vibes and a chorus that is holy and bright. #134 The Shins Fantasy Island Quote I hated the album but this song in particular is a highlight (I'm trying to not say ''the only good song'' but eek), this is some excellent and sweet indie rock. #133 Destroyer Tinseltown Swimming in Blood Quote Tinseltown Swimming in Blood is a lowkey track but it is very effective too, the bass goes along perfect with this man's vocals and the dreamy vibes just adds to the synth work that flies throughout the song (saying fly because that's what it seems these sounds do hehe) #132 The Megaphonic Thrift No Sleep Only Dreams Quote The Megaphonic Thrift is a really underrated band and No Sleep Only Dreams proves it, this song is dreamy but agressive at the same time (yeah... it's weird), it's also a bit anthemic and the dark sounds go perfectly with those vocals, I don't know, man, this is just good. Shoegaze-y. #131 Geowulf Get You Quote Geowulf's vocalist has one of the sweetest female voices I've ever heard in indie rock, this song is effective and catchy, the electronic organ is amazing and the percussions just add to the song making it a massive indie rock hit imo. #130 Pale Waves There's a Honey Quote Pale Waves is like The 1975 but with a female vocalist and with some more gothic aesthetic, so you can't definitely guess how this song sounds like, this an indie-rock/pop fusion that sounds straight out of the 80s but not quite. You know what I mean. #129 Gorillaz Andromeda Quote Gorillaz' Humanz was disappointing BUT Andromeda is a good ass song, this is a super well crafted dance song, it's kinda spacey but it hits hard too and like a good dance song should do, it's really punchy and conquers you at first listen. #128 Priests Nothing Feels Natural Quote This post-punk anthem has a lo-fi vibe that I can't quite describe... but it's amazing though. #127 Bloody Your Hands Definitely Twisted Quote Found this band randomly through TIDAL and wow, I enjoyed it, it's really mellow and ready-for-a-soundtrack kind of indie rock, the vocalists' voice is saddening and while at times they could get cheesy with those lyrics at the very core this song in particular is just really soft and cute. I loved it and I'm waiting for their next record. #126 Yumi Zouma Us, Together Quote Us, Together is dreamy, is vibey and it's every other word I have been saying already... just kidding, this Yumi Zouma song is sweet as hell but also sounds like the kind of electronic-ish indie rock that you know it's kinda inspired by the 80s but doesn't REALLY sound like it, I don't know if that makes sense but yeah... that's that on that.
Vxspertine Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Whew, so many great songs Geowulf is really something, can't really put my finger on what thing though
