Zay Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 GFOTYBUCKS is a really diverse body of work that I really enjoyed. Need to listen to it more but when I heard the "Unbreak My Heart" interlude my jaw dropped
TRF. Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 GFOTYBUCKS es... messy creo que las canciones que ya había escuchado de ella envejecieron un poco para mi pero igual hay otras que me gustan mucho lol
World Eater Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I'm a OGFOTYH but I gotta admit that Friday Night is still on my PC Music top 3
Uncatena Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 GFOTY is a mess but I would be lying if i said i dont enjoy some of her stuff, USA is a bop
Glassmouth Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 BEST ALBUMS OF 2017 #23 Pharmakon Contact Quote Margaret Chardiet's 3rd album as Pharmakon is a lot more focused than the 2 that lead to this piece of industrial noise. Starting with Nakedness of Need, Contact starts in a high and epic noise note dragging us to the depths of hell, a hell that is restrained, a hell that feels like it was completely meant to happen as it does, Chardiet is known for her rehearsed performances and for the lack of improvisation in her work, she meticulously chooses the sounds and the structures her songs are going to take and it shows since this record is a slowburning masterpiece of noise that is shaped and sculped in an elegant way, never loosing and always mantaining a delicate state of tension like in the two tracks that follow the opener (Sentient & Transmission). Her voice sounds like a more loose Diamanda Galás at points and the screams only add to the intoxicating dark atmosphere that the blippy and bloopy headphone-drilling sounds create on their own. BEST TRACKS Nakedness of Need, Transmission, Sleepwalking Form, No Natural Order #22 Goldfrapp Silver Eye Quote Unlike the last two Goldfrapp albums, Silver Eye regains what I thought was lost: the perfect blend between experimentation and pop music that this duo is known for, starting with punchy 'Anymore' and being followed by the equally pleasant and poppy 'Systemagic', Silver Eye starts unfolding like albums like Supernature and Black Cherry but as we move forward this record reveals its true colours with a more dark and experimental approach in songs like Beast that Never Was and Faux Suede Drifter, Silver Eye is the best return to form for a band that knows how to work with different genres and blend it perfectly with Alison's vocals (I mean, yeah, maybe Tales of Us and Head First might not be as enjoyable but they did blend folk and italo-disco pretty well, and as experiments they kind are okay), this album is joyful, is dark, is sexy and sultry and overall a complete prove that this duo has still a lot to offer. BEST TRACKS Ocean, Moon in Your Mouth, Beast that Never Was, Anymore

Wondervisions Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Neither of those albums made my list Tbh I thought of GFOTYBUCKS more like compilation rather than an album but it's really good and the best thing PC have dropped in a LONG TIME. The Goldcrapp album was good but all the tracks were too same-y? idk it just didn't stick with me. Contacts scurred the **** out of me tbh I've never been able to get into Margaret's music :( Can't wait too see the rest of the list! xo

Sunderland 4ever Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 "Morningside" was good, but a bit monotonous towards the second half. Little Uneasy made my Top 100 last year.
World Eater Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Contact was good btw, although I prefer her first two releases
Glassmouth Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) BEST ALBUMS OF 2017 #21 Hammock Columbus Quote Columbus is a spacey and really emotional film, the way the loneliness created by the cinematography and the lowkey gray-ish colours captures and also enhances the arquitecture shown throughout the film, with that we also have on top of all of this Hammock's drone-y and emotional score, 45 minutes of emotional electronics that paints the world gray, emotional, spacey and echo-y; sounds that not only make sense in the context of the film, but that also sound good on their own. Hammock's sound palette for 'Columbus' is as lonely as the film itself and is, in my opinion, the best film score released in 2017. BEST TRACKS: Eliel, Meier, Jimenez, Saitowitz #20 Vaya Futuro Tips Para ir de Viaje Quote This mexican's third album departs from the heavy shoe-gaze inspired Perro Verde y Triste (Sad and Green Dog for my fellow Muricans) and meanwhile there is still some of the shoegaze influence all over tracks like the epic closer 6 AM, Tips para ir de Viaje is a more indie rock focused record, with some acoustic ballads here and there and most straight-forward song structures without losing the emotional touch that made me fall in love with these guys, in songs like sweet ''+&+'', the vocalist Luis Aguilar looses and creates a heavenly and tender atmosphere that recalls Goldfrapp's Felt Mountain with the wonky outro and alien sounds here and there alongside Aguilar's echoed vocals. This band is totally underrated and I hope some of you gives these guys a chance. BEST TRACKS: +&+, 6 AM, Cuando tu Eco se Apague, Tips para ir de Viaje Edited December 25, 2017 by Glassmouth
Glassmouth Posted December 25, 2017 Author Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) #92 The Horrors Something to Remember Me By Quote Something to Remember Me By is also The Horrors' closer and it does it's job in a glorious, dancey and epic way, Something to Remember Me By is The Horrors most instant track and also one of the most beautiful proves that they could jump into a more straightforward direction without losing their touch. #93 Katy Perry Tsunami Quote Katy at her best in Witness is also at her sexiest and at her less lyrically adventurous which tells you about how good she is one she is more focused on the vibe than on being a popstar, Tsunami moves sensually with amazing basses and a really good Tame Impala-ish feeling and is enjoyable as hell. #92 St Vincent Los Ageless Quote Los Ageless is (for me) the proper introduction to MASSEDUCTION and Annie does is pretty well, with a catchy beat and a catchy chorus and some crazy guitars here and there, here she presents a renovated sound without going too far from what we know her for, with a little bit more synth work than on self-title Los Ageless is effective. This would be a lot higher if it wasn't for the totally skippable outro. #91 Dua Lipa New Rules Quote I have to be honest, at first I was not completely fond of this song BUT this song grows on you like a mother****er, the breakdown is amazingly well done, I have to say, Dua Lipa serves a elegant electronic pop jam and we love her. #90 The xx I Dare You Quote I Dare You is a lowkey and sweet The xx song, probably is weird for me to think of this as one of the best songs of the record, but it totally works this time, with a sweet feeling and a totally cuter hook I Dare You moves into a more sunny feeling for the band. #89 Hippo Campus Way it Goes Quote Way it Goes is a cool indie rock song, the melodic guitars and the exaggerated vibrato coming give shape to the song and make it a highlight in their debut. #88 Bernache Your Name Quote Bernache's lo-fi feeling in her debut single 'Your Name' is impeccable, the way the guitars cry as she sings in a echoey manner make this song feel romantic and at the same time a bit distant. #87 Sabrina Claudio Belong to You Quote Belong to You is a hot electronic R&B bop, Sabrina's range is able to recall Sade and also to move along the electronic breakdown making it even sexier. #86 Fazerdaze Lucky Girl Quote Lucky Girl is a sunny, girly and sweet indie rock bop, the ''I'm a lucky lucky girl girl girl girl'' gets stuck in your head and the feeling of the song recalls days at the beach and a laugh with your friends, I love this. #85 Pinkshinyultrablast In the Hanging Gardens Quote Pinkshinyultrablast's In the Hanging Gardens is a bit more straight-forward in regards of production and feeling, the vocalist's voice moves along nicely and in a lost less spacey and distant way (unlike this bands' previous work) making an excellent electro-shoegaze track. #84 Tei Shi Keep Running Quote Keep Running (the only track I enjoyed from this girl's debut) is a synth-pop epic jam with sexy vocals and amazingly well implement synthy-basses and a good beat and that chorus... well, it's glorious. #83 Mac DeMarco My Old Man Quote My Old Man moves in a more electronic lane for DeMarco without really being different at its core, DeMarco is able to comfort himself in the lyrics (perhaps), if you're looking for something different from DeMarco this is not it but it's a good reminder of how good he's at doing his indie rock-y cute bops. #82 LCD Soundsystem How do you sleep? Quote The totally EPIC 9-minutes on How Do You Sleep? start in a creepy way (those... weird noises in the background while the percussions starts setting in and introducing itself) move away at the 1:30-ish minute and the unrefined vocals and the synths and violins come and you really start 'getting' where this song is going and THEN the chorus, what an amazing experience this was. #81 Kllo Virtue Quote Kllo's Virtue is sexy and elegant, the beats kinda reminds me of The xx's new work but with cleaner and more electronic-centred feeling, the elements used here build up nicely and it's overall an excellent pop experience. #80 Lil Uzi Vert XO TOUR Lif3 Quote To say this song wasn't, at the very least, enjoyable for me would be lying tbh, the emo trap-rap feeling really hits the nail here. #79 SOPHIE Ponyboy Quote Ponyboy is weird as f*ck, SOPHIE managed to go even deeper in her experimentation and she was also able to bring the PC Music sound to a new high. This is weird, this is dark, this is epic. #78 Sufjan Stevens Wallowa Lake Monster Quote Wallowa Lake Monster could've been easily put on Carrie & Lowell and not affect its flow (but I see why it wasn't placed in the tracklist... since lyrically, while it talks about Sufjan's mother as most of the record, this is a lot more focused on metaphors for her illness and it's less direct like most fo the records' lyrics are), WLM is beautiful, heart-hitting and the outro is one to die for. #77 Syd Shake Em Off Quote Shake Em Off is a really nice PR&B song, Syd's vocals sound effortless and sexy, the instrumental fit her voice perfectly and the chorus sounds super cool. #76 Juana Molina Paraguaya Quote I was introduced to this Latin musician this year, Juana Molina's Paraguaya is a weird indietronica song, the vocals are creepy, the build up eve creepier and the repeated beats never lose its touch in the whole 3:43 minutes this song unfold in. #75 Sound of Ceres Humaniora Quote Humaniora is The Twin's most effective dream pop song, it sounds and recalls Candy Claws' second album with a more alien-sound, this song is beachy but also extraterrestrial, I have honestly no words to describe how pretty this song is. Playa Playa Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Both them albums sound amazing??? I need to listen! (And watch Columbus soon) XO TOUR Lif3 is the best here. I don't ever want it to be forgotten!
